Mission results 04/06/2020

Mission Finland Poltava
Date flown 4th June 2020 on BAT383
Results 3 kills 600 points Survived!
Debrief
Enjoyed one of Poltava's busy airfields. Took off and circled,
waiting for my wingmen to join me then increased throttle once
formed up. Checked map for direction. Crossed the border after a
few minutes and spotted SB bombers with I16 escorts at a lower
level below the clouds. Ordered wingmen to attack bombers and my
number two to cover me. Increased throttle and dropped onto an
SB flight. On the first pass I set one smoking then turned, wary
of the I16s. My wingman told me I was clear so I made for the
bomber flight again. This time I set two on fire and smoked the
second engine on my first victim. Ran out of ammo. The gunners
at some stage hit my engine which began to run rough. Although
the engine was misfiring I made it home. Mission Complete.
I believe my wingmen finished off another SB and an I16 for no
loss.

Results: 1 kills, 200 points. Mission Complete in base.
Debrief
We took off, and without wasting time, we headed for the border,
very close to here. We stayed below the clouds. Soon after, my
boys saw a pair of biplanes heading north, flying low over the
treetops. We attacked them, one of them was shot down, the other
I stopped seeing him and didn't know anything else about him.
It seems that after the encounter with Lars, neither the SB nor
the I16 wanted to return. I waited five more minutes, since the
russians did not show up, we returned to base. Thanks Otto.

Results: 3 kills, 60 points but did not survive
Debrief
The Soviet bombers returned after being chased off by Lars and
Haukka. I saw some I-16s in the distance but they never joined
the fight. Well, at least they did not join the fight while I
was alive.
The SBs remind me of Japanese Betty bombers. They seem to ignite
rather easily. I got three on fire but the third exploded when I
was too close it disabled my plane. I was unable to bail out
even and that was it.

Unlucky Von. Maybe some beautiful Finnish nurse will pull you
from the wreckage and bring you back to us, after having her
wicked way of course. Haukka and I will raise a glass or two for
your safe return.

A question for you guys. How many of you have SCW or the planes
from that time??
I have some missions for SCW I could post here for the FUN...
I love those planes of SCW ..... ;)
