Nice! Particularly interesting to me is again the tall trees so
close to the Hell Cat Tarawa strip... and the 'just barely
coming into the picture' of the metal pre-fab lattice-like strip
on the Mustang's Iwo strip... really looks different from the
metal 'add on' strip surface in the game. Also notice the
bushes and scrub grass and such growing around.
Yet another interesting thing Is that in a lot of these pics (so
far) we see the planes 'right on the edge' of the landing
strip... VERY close. Also, we see them lined up perfectly' also
right along the strip rather than distributed out in groups of
two or three or spread out singly.... this is REAL LIFE pics.
So...what's the deal? This is war and wouldn't that make the
airplanes PERFECT for an enemy STRAFING run??
       :o
       Beo

Look at this will ya? ??? My vision is bad but that looks
like Corsairs... (is that a single P-47 or a Hell Cat on the far
left rear it's wings look different from the gull types? My
vision is so bad this morning I can hardly make anything out.)
This is a GREAT shot of some distant Pacific Theater field..
look at the tents all jammed together and the single shed... man
it's right by the sea and some of the fighters in the distance
look like their almost to the tide line! G'oh!

Wow... check this out! The tiny (and I mean TINY) island is
practically ALL strip! Again, an unknown Pacific island
strip...likely one of those small jobs that the USA dropped way
out there as an auxiliary field for a particular sector...either
as a defensive setup or particular campaign support setup. No
way for me to know and the pic had no captions. Looks to me
that in a storm, the entire island might have been swamped with
sea water! (we need some of these little strips in the game!)

       Hey Beo,
The airfield, maintenance area, is a pic from Munda, showing
VMF-214 "Black Sheep", there is one F4U in the maintenance shed
getting its engine removed/replaced. The are two F4Us awaiting
work, I can make out the ammo bays open on the right wing of the
center aircraft. The aircraft to the far left is a F6F Hellcat.
There are also three RAAF P-40s in the background. :)
The aircraft either taking off or landing on Iron Range Field is
       a B-24 Liberator.

       Hey Beo,
The P-40s are RAAF, I think the Spitfire is a lend-lease
       aircraft to Russia.

Thanks DH... even with blowing up the screen I couldn't make it
out... (my specs are broken and no cash to buy new frames right
now, be a few days yet) and my vision absolutely sucks...
everything mostly just a giant BLUR/SMEAR... I got the gist of
the pics but not the fine details (even blown up.) :-\
Appreciate the assist on me poor eyeballs...lol. :D

       Great pics Beo !!!
Did you happen to notice, that in all of the Pacific pics all
units, no matter the country, stacked their planes very close to
the runways … in lines or bunches.

Yes I certainly did... amazing, as you would just surely realize
that it made for PERFECT bombing and strafing runs against
them... but yes, virtually every country seemed to do this in
the Pacific. What were they thinking? ??? Crazy!
