Look Ma, no rip cord. I did not have to bail out this time and I
even landed successfully. About half way through our route my
P-39s and a group of Yaks that were with us encountered a large
number of ME-109s. Could be the excitement of the moment but I
thought we were outnumbered at some point early on. When the
battle was done however, we had cleared the skies over Kuban of
German aircraft. Thanks to Haukka's training video and some
practice, I landed back at base. Sorry I do not have any screen
shots of the action but there was just too much going on.

I did enjoy it. The P-39 is a favorite of mine so that helped I
think. I have enjoyed all the missions for that matter.

Mission Pokryshkin 25
Date Flown 17th May 2020 in BAT383
Results 2 kills 300 pts
Debrief. Climbed out to 16000ft, ordered flight to cover me. As
usual flight did their own thing, but my wingman at least helped
when we first met the 109s after 20 minutes into the sortie.
Took one 109 out as he climbed in front of me, at 20 to 30m
range. He was concentrating on one of my flight so I got close
before he realised and evaded. Ran out of cannon quickly while
damaging at least two other 109s. Riddled one with remaining mg
and he eventually crashed as I 'danced' with several other 109s.
Received light damage but nothing troubling. Spun twice but
recovered just above ground! Ordered flight home. None missing
as far as I could tell. Mission Complete!
Good choice Otto.
ps Earlier I had been flying a MC202 against Bostons and P40s
over Egypt, annoyingly colliding twice with my targets, so it
was a relief to take it out on these guys. lol

Mission: Pokryshkin_25
Pilot: E69_Haukka
Date flown: May 17 2020
Points scored: a plaque in the cemetery
Debrief:
Congratulations to the pilots who were able to return to base.
It was not an easy mission.
After takeoff, we headed to Krassnodar, according
to the brief, and climbed to an altitude of 5,200 meters. Upon
reaching the border we kept flying near another squadron of
Russian fighters. Flying over the border to the south, the
Germans emerged from the clouds like a swarm of killer
bees. The enemies were very aggressive, and
it seemed to me that they were everywhere. I persisted in
chasing a 109 until his plane began to drop a dark column of
smoke. Soon his mates came to his aid and broke my engine, which
started to smoke. Still I tried to chase another adversary, but
my engine was no longer responding. I abandoned the battle with
the intention of descending and making an emergency landing in
some meadow. At that moment another 109 fell on me like an
arrow, shooting, and broke my right wing. My plane was starting
to catch fire. Before I could jump, the plane exploded. End of
my mission.
Now I have to go back to settle accounts with those "bad guys".
Thanks so much for the mission, J30_Otto!

Unlucky Haukka. Nice one Von. Guess I was lucky by holding off
rather than piling in straight away. The AI always seems to be
hesitant until you start firing so if you are crowded early on
turn away and get height, set up the target later and preferably
one that is alone or fixated on its target.
I returned to my MC202 v Bostons and P40s and downed a Boston.
Feel so much better. Took all my ammo though.
