Me too. They did a little gem when building SandsOfTime map: I
think North African desert is just like that, reddish, with
dunes and mountains (even with snow, during winter). Its sole
drawback is reduced dimension, but it is representative of any
part of that region, from Tunisia to Tobruk.

Here are some screens from my newest campaign. I'm roughly 3/4
done with it, however these screens depict the campaign from
very early on. Once finished I'll post it here as well. :)

Looking good, buddy! ;D I like the looks of that sort of
pinkish/grayish landscape there... Dive Bombers? Oh wow! I am
SO b-a-d with dive bombers. :'( I almost always end up
missing the target with my bombs but somehow CRASHING into it
with my plane.
It's absurd but I seem to have this knack with a dive bomber for
diving into the ground just as my dropped bomb load impacts, you
know, ---for that good ole DOUBLE whammy killing effect.
Perhaps your campaign will enable me to fly fighter support? Or
recon? Or just stay at the air strip and drink beer? :-\
Hahaha! It'll be great!
Nice screenies by the way.
Beo

I'm pretty terrible at dive bombing as well … had to resort to
doing the dive at 1/2 speed, I'm more accurate at that speed.
:)

Hey buddy... you hit the boat and didn't crash into it right
behind your bomb... I'd say (compared to me) you're VERY good at
dive bombing!
;D ;D ;D

Nice screenies, GB... :)
Sadly, I am weak in this particular history... Russia of course
versus Japan, correct? I have heard of Khalkhin-Gol but don't
know much about it. Sounds very interesting though. How did
the super maneuverable Russian bi-planes hold up against the
Japanese fast climbers?
I have heard of Khalkhin-Gol but don't know much about
it.
You may find thorough info about its aerial warfare
here:
Khalkhin Gol/Nomonhan Incident 1939
HTML http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/nomonhan.htm
I used it as main source to build this campaign, integrated with
relevant entry on Wikipedia
HTML https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Khalkhin_Gol.
Russian called those happenings "Khalkhin Gol" (which was the
river along the disputed border), that were for Japanese "The
Nomonhan Incident" (Nomonhan being a small village close to the
river), in the will to minimize that war at a diplomatic level.
How did the super maneuverable Russian bi-planes hold up
against the Japanese fast climbers?
Well, the Japanese fighter was the Ki-27, featuring pressure
carburator (allowing negative G maneuvers) and fairly unmatched
by the Ishak on all other performance characteristics (even turn
time, with combat flaps). About I-152/153 they were absolutely
no match for the Nate.
Aircraft losses
HTML https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Khalkhin_Gol#Soviet_aircraft_losses,<br
/>although showing a quite advantage for Japanese, are not so
decisive to say the Soviets were overwhelmed. The war was won by
USSR, although its end was similar to a stalemate, since war in
Europe subtracted attention by Russian, which failed to
consolidate their position.
Thank you very much for allowing me to hint something about
campaign background; it requires much work and passion and
seldom there's anyone interested to know.

No, it's not a night hunting mission! :D It's five o'clock in
the afternoon and we are in Courland, in December: at those
latitudes it gets dark early (but the twilight lasts much longer
than in the tropics!). The Henschel Hs 129B-3 "Waffentraeger"
pair went out on the hunt for Russian tanks!
