It’s the ghost of an animal. What a snake-ghost would be doing
in a hospital is beyond Idi, though, not to mention the
transformation it must have been through to get wings among
other weirdness.
That means there’s probably an Avernian Gate nearby.
Whatever it was, it probably shouldn’t be roaming around the
hospital freely to begin with. Or maybe that was just a
justification for following her impulses to hunt it -- either
way, she started like a cat stalking something that was just
slithering out of sight, and she pounces like a cat once she can
see the thing.

Idi manages to catch the snake by surprise, and it twists around
in shock, instincts causing it to bare its fangs, until it
suddenly stops when it sees who has it.
"Wait! I'm here for you! To show you something!" it hisses out
at her. Barghests don't often talk, although it's not entirely
unheard of; in this case, it's probably not too surprising that
whatever altered it made sure it could communicate too.

The Barghest would be aware that it should lead her where she

Whatever was responsible for this creature had her curiosity.

The entity doesn't seem particularly put off by the mental
speech, which is likely notable in its own way. In fact, it
takes advantage of the mind link to not need to speed out loud.
As it slithers along, it mentally projects the path they're
taking, as well as curiosity about what she's doing shifted into
Twilight; apparently it's not responsible for it. The only
response to her curiosity about what made it is a sudden shiver
like she were in the deepest depths of the ocean.
Before too long, though, they're within the Twilight phase of
the room she's supposed to be in.
Her focus is drawn to the clipboard on the bed, where a man
seems to be hooked up to machines. It's hard to make out the
specifics due to the nature of the ghostly phase of Twilight,
though. The clipboard, though, she can read if she gets a close
enough look, but it's like trying to align the text with someone
else's glasses.
Apparently the man had gotten into a fight with his wife, a
literal one. She got out with little more than bruises but he
ended up launching himself over a banister, breaking half the
bones in his body when he fell; his prognosis isn't good.
The woman's been taken into custody because of it, for daring to
even attempt to get out of the way and defend herself; the last
part of that is a mental projection offered to her by the ghost,
rather than anything covered by the chart.

Idi shares that she has no idea what she’s doing in Twilight.
She’d never been in Twilight before. Odd that she’d start now.
She struggles to read the chart, but manages to. Between the
hazy warpedness and the atrocious handwriting, she almost
doesn’t make it to the end of the road of understanding. She
gets there, though, and the context provided by the snake
barghest makes her furrow her brow.
Why show her this? She looks to the Barghest, emanating her
curiosity.

It speaks up again this time. "Do you think he dessservess it?"
it asks, slithering closer and stretching out to look over the
man directly. If he were conscious and aware of Twilight, it'd
likely be disconcerting seeing the toothy snake maw right in
front of his head.
"Hiss ssoul? Sspirit?" it clarifies before she can ask. "Sso he
can damage it further? Taint it even more?" turning to look to
her at that point. "Do you know what it doess to the Cycle, to
the cosmoss, when a tainted ssoul returnss to it, without
purifying it?"
A mental flash in her mind, and she suddenly sees the familiar
Doctor Monthelm writing the chart out. What had seemed like a
weird chicken scratch on the side is suddenly incredibly
notable, a mark that others might recognize, that they're meant
to recognize.

The weight of the man’s sins suddenly weigh in on her.
If he’s truly guilty of abuse -- a crime she herself had been
victim to all her life before her Change -- then he doesn’t
deserve anything, let alone mercy. She, admittedly, knew nothing
of souls. But she did know how to kill a man. That predatorial,
murderous instinct came more naturally to her than anyone would
be comfortable admitting.
It was nearly alien to a mortal, yet it came so naturally to
her.
…but she was stuck in Twilight.
Hrm.

Hrm. If she stepped sideways… or found the gate to the
underworld. Either could render her physical again. The latter
sounds easier than the former.
She needs to know where the gate is, and the snake should tell
her. It does, and she’s off to the races.
She heads toward the Morgue. If she’s lucky, there won’t be any
ghosts demanding her attention in her way.
If she isn’t…

There are always some ghosts around a hospital. Few people there
are truly ready to die, and while unfinished business and
emotion don't guarantee ghosts, they certainly make it likely.
It's not a swarm or anything, and it's easier to dodge them than
a crowded living-side hospital during the day, but some care
must be taken.
Thankfully, she manages it just fine. A long trip or drop down
the stairs as she prefers, and a walk through the door into the
morgue.
Supposedly, the gateway is hidden inside a drawer among the
temporary refrigeration beds, one that's locked up because at
least one or two people down there know what's going on and can
make excuses. In her current state, the door itself won't be a
problem.
The gateway might. She'll need to get it open fast. Nobody is in
here at the exact moment, but she'll have to be careful about
her timing.
