I’m sleeping when the phone buzzes. Not my usual phone, the
Burner I bought. Only one person has that number. I grunt, and
roll over, ignoring it at first. I can’t answer it then, Ganax
       would be too interested.
I wake up a few hours later...
       --- Quote ---
       > Composure 3 + Subterfuge 2 - Vice 3 = 2 dice to fool the demon
into thinking nothing is happening. Would spend a WP, but I
assume concentrating on it would be the opposite of lulling the
       demon into a bored state…
       > 10, 7 = 2 successes
       --- End Quote ---
No sudden movements. Which is easy, I’m hung over.
The stranger next to me in the bed is still tied up and bruised
from the night before. Guess I forgot to untie them before I
passed out. Oh well. Not like I give a shit anyways. I stumble
to the bathroom and brush my teeth, looking at the phone while
Ganax is convinced I’m just stupidly getting through my morning
       routine at 15:00.
::Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior?:: the
first message says. Irony. I’d say I would actually burst into
flames if I went into a church, but I already tried to end it
that way and it was no good.
What follows is a meeting time and place. I’m already late.
::OMW:: I fire off real quick, before rummaging around to find
my pants, putting them on and heading out to the visitor’s
parking at the side of the apartment building I’m in.
I think I forgot to untie the stranger.
       Oh well.
I climb into my car, plug the address into the GPS, and start
       driving.

Technically speaking, he had this information days ago, but he's
been busy. Today was his first actual day off, and there was
always a chance this would become a whole Thing™, so he wanted
to be sure he didn't have to play off a super-long lunch or
anything while people were bleeding out.
It also would help account for things like the person benefiting
       from this being late.
       Buzz 'OMW'
       Definitely made the right call.
When she finally shows up, the address is the empty side of a
parking lot in a barely-trafficked strip mall. Not fully
abandoned, because that's obvious and interesting, just a spot
where nobody's going to be parking or walking, even given the
holidays. He's dressed 'casually' for him which is business
casual to most others, at worst. And a jacket, of course.
Oh, and of course he has a small kitchen fire extinguisher held
behind his back. Can't reveal that until he needs to.
Technically, that's not what his research brought up; how could
it? But the demon's bane shifts towards the most modern public
archetype of personal fire-fighting, which he imagines must be
       an extinguisher's contents.
More visibly, he's holding a spiral notebook and a cheap usb
dongle. He waves with that full hand when he sees her pulling
       up.

I pull up in my ferrari. This isn’t the best part of town, but
if it was, we’d be back to square one with the demon reading my
thoughts and urging me along into something it wanted to do. So.
My car sticks out like a sore thumb out here. Just means I can’t
wander too far from it, is all.
My boot crunches on the pavement as I step out of the vehicle,
and slam the door behind myself.
“Whatup, Doc?” I say. He’s obviously holding something behind
his back, which could be a gun… but do I really care? Either it
can’t kill me because Ganax won’t let me die, or it CAN kill me
and I’m finally fucking free of this shit.

Leaning forward, he offers her the notebook and the USB drive.
"Here's the information on Ganax," he says rather loudly.
Apparently he fully intends on the demon being aware for this,
because there's no way saying its name won't pull it out of its
       stupor.
Before it gets any ideas, though, that's when he pulls the fire
extinguisher out. "Foremost among my findings is that it should
be fairly afraid of the contents of most modern fire
extinguishers," he explains to her right afterward, though,
perhaps as a way to warn the demon against deciding to impose
itself over her to lash out at him or the like.
He figures that should set the mood for all of this. She hadn't
sounded too interested in a typical exorcism, or at least the
risks involved, so 'renegotiation' is likely her best bet.

       ~Eh? What now?~
“Keep it pointed at me,” I instruct. “Fucker can burn shit.
Might need to put the book out.”
       ~why you little--~~
I take the book, and flip through it while he’s got me covered.
Ganax is confused, and angry (big surprise, there) but he can’t
do anything as long as that thing is trained on me, right?
He could try to make me run, and get hosed down. He could try to
burn the book, and get hosed down. He could try to set Doc on
       fire, and get hosed down…
Doc’s got his attention, and control of the situation.
Once things are under control, I read what he’s got here, and
assess whether or not I can memorize it on the spot. If it’s too
much to memorize, I skim it instead.
“Alright, Ganax,” I say aloud. “I’ve got leverage, now. Time for
       a little negotiation.”
”INSOLENCE,” I suddenly belch out in a demonic growl. Hoo-boy we
       must have pissed him off.
“Get fucked, Binky,” I retort. I motion to the Doc that he can
       kick this off.

He has it at the ready and pointed at her pretty quickly. The
conjurer's gaze is nearly unblinking, but clearly focused
nonetheless. He knows what he's doing, knows what he's dealing
with, and is at least giving off the impression that any sense
of fear, if it exists, will have no effect on him. He's not
going to take a demon's shit.
"Yes, insolence, technically," he says somewhat coldly. "But
think of it as renegotiation. Since your 'vessel' here had no
chance for it in the first place. Which means you came from
somewhere," he mentions, though doesn't actually a demand an
answer to that lack of information.
"We can keep this simple enough, though. Clearly, she now knows
all of the 'best' ways of dealing with you if she needs to.
Clearly I do as well, and I could possibly have informed any
number of other individuals. So, you can either learn to behave,
and learn to act more as part of a team instead of a controlling
possessor, or expend all of your energy each day trying to keep
her from finding any given building's 'break in case of fire'
box and going nuts. Or, I guess, finding the few truly believing
priests out there that haven't touched anyone they shouldn't."
One is likely easier than the other.
Demons don't suffer stress in the same way humans do, but their
very natures tend to recoil at their Banes in a way that's
       likely worse than stress.

He nods in appreciation of that last add-on. "Yes, that would be
ideal as well," he agrees. Regardless, it seems it's starting to
get through to it. "But I'm going to need a verbal agreement.
Sorry, Faye," he says, the apology being that he's demanding she
be controlled for another moment there; he doesn't have any idea
how that may or may not feel.
While he can't exactly bind a devil's words, he certainly will
feel better if they at least make the claim that they'll do it.
"Really, you could have run into a worse roadblock," he mentions
to Ganax, "We're talking a bargain, a deal, working together.
We're not suggesting she entirely take over and enslave you
instead, nor are we discussing casting you out with a violent
exorcism or summoning and binding. There are ways she can give
into her anger and make use of fire without completely spiraling
or giving up all control," he says, nodding to her as if to
leave it to her as to how she'd like to get into that part. He
doesn't want to make an exact offer for how she'll behave.

None of it is a bluff, of course. It's all backed up on his
phone and copies are on his higher-ranked cultists' drives too.
Plus the original paper research notes are all kept safely
elsewhere as well. Can't be a good doctor or a good conjurer
without covering your bases and backing up your position.
"Sounds like we have this worked out, then," he says with a nod.
"Just to be safe, of course," he walks over and slips the
extinguisher into the back of Faye's car, motioning for her to
unlock it if needed. Would be rude to hand it to her after
they'd just completed the negotiation after all.
There's the risk it might suddenly want to take the opportunity
to attack or light something up, but he has another in his own
less-fancy car and has his usual salt in his pocket.
"Anything else you need covered?" he asks Faye.
