Solomon leads Rebus through a merry journey through the
traffic-infested streets of Boston, and at some point Rebus will
feel their peripheral sight picking up on something when Solomon
is at his angriest. Hopefully they don't check what it is while
driving, given the distraction of such things.
They're lead to a mid-range apartment complex, which Solomon
waits at until the other Awakened pulls in, at which point he
leads them inside, one of the mid-floor apartments in the middle
of the complex. Need to stay average and out of the way when
you're, well, technically stealing.
It's all about doing a lot with a little. Inside, he leads Rebus
through a pretty typical living area that seems like it sees
little use, and past a kitchen and a hall leading to bedroom and
bathroom, into the larger, expanded out room that works as his
Sanctum (and Hallow). It's not big, but he seems to have done a
lot with it.
It seems to be split around a central point, with
correspondences to each of the hermetic planetary bodies (Sun
through Saturn) eating up a portion of the room. Colors change
through each segment, like the greenish colors around Venus to
the deeper reds of Mars. Robes hang on hooks, all of which match
the colors, symbols, and seem to be trimmed with metallic
threads that match that planet.
They all shrink down into triangles that come together to form
the circle in the center. "So, we'll want a mixture of the
affinities for Mercury and Jupiter for our first ritual. I think
we can also include Venus, given that our ultimate target is a
living creature," he starts to explain, speaking as if Rebus is
just going to understand what the hell he's talking about.
"Put this on," he says, handing them one of the green robes
laden with the symbology for Mercury.
Yes this is going to be a bit of a thing.

They caught on to the basics of the other mage's set up, though
not the down and dirty details. Enough to work together. They
led the cat along inside, and looked to Solomon. "He is not a
familiar, but is a emotional support cat in training. If you
don't mind, I promise he is very well behaved."
If he soid no, he'd tell the cat to sit outside the room.
Otherwise, the cat would sit where he was told. Rebus put on the
robe and moved to the appropriate place. "Lead the way,
Solomon."

"The cat's fine," he assures them.
Solomon gathers everything they need, though as he's starting to
get things set up, he gets the information sent to his phone
with the exact address. He frowns a moment, "That's not close
enough," he says, looking mildly concerned. "We're going to have
to take a short drive and set this stuff up closer, even with a
ritual this size," he adds on.
"Sorry to give you the run around, but help carry those bits
there," motioning to some of his ritual tools he'd gathered, "If
you don't mind. I'll cast what we need to make sure nobody will
pay us any mind once we get there." He doesn't bother asking if
Rebus can, figuring it's simple enough to just get it all done,
"And keep any spirits with bright ideas from being an issue."

With that done, he gets back into the car to lead Rebus towards
the area by the gas station. Thankfully the cars themselves are
not affected by the magic so people on the road don't ignore
them.
He parks them a few miles away since they don't need to be
directly in the spot, just close enough for the area to
encompass it, and he sets up the ritual. Mercury leading into
Jupiter and back, circling around the casting point which ends
with the sign for Mercury. They each wear one of the robes,
Rebus with the green one and Solomon with the blue, at the
matching points around the circle. Of course, High Speech gets
woven into the entirety of the process.

It's a long process, and the day's turning to night by the time
the ritual completes. But it goes particularly well, their
peripheral sights ringing with the force of the spell reaching
across the Gauntlet, commanding any gaffling or jaggling spirit
that knows anything about their target, who he is, or what he's
done around here to come and tell them. And then leave without
any hostile interactions. Not every spirit appreciates being
told what to do, even by the Thrice-Great, after all.
"And now... we wait," he explains, more or less collapsing
against the grass and shifting his senses to be able to take in
the spiritual.

Murder By Moonlight
---------------------------------------------------------
The gas station is on the highway outside of the city, so
there’s plenty of woods to hike through and a particularly
flat clearing makes a good place for the ritual to be cast.
The two mages engage in their rite, putting out the call across
the Gauntlet for anyone, or anything, that has any information
at all. It’s a broad call to a massive area, and they run
the risk of bringing entire spirit choruses crashing down on
them.
But they manage to avoid that fate, by sheer luck: There is no
stampede across the Gauntlet. Instead, there is… nothing.
Nothing but the feeling of being watched. An unsettling feeling,
to be sure -- the Boston area isn’t the safest Shadow you
could find (which is saying something, as in general, the Shadow
is already a dangerous place to begin with.) Between the Wound
of Salem, and the cannibal hicks that permeate the woodlands
surrounding the Massachusetts countryside, the bent of spirits
likely to exist in the area around Boston itself is… well,
dangerous.
Eventually, someone turns around and sees it at the edge of the
casting circle. Staring at them. Faceless and emaciated, wrapped
in bloody bandages that sway in the non-existent wind.
Murder-by-Moonlight’s wings fold up behind itself. It
silently watches the two mages, tilting it’s hooded,
shadowed head with a sinister curiosity.

When Solomon decides this calls for a road trip, Rebus and their
cat are willing to follow to the optimal location. They play
their part in the rite, as led by Solomon. TGhen, when the
spirit arrives, they send out a subtle mental query directed to
the spirit.

They do not react strongly to what they sensed, though inside
there was a skipped heartbeat. Almost absently, Rebus kneels
down to pet their cat, Caesar. They also look to Solomon, as the
main summoner, to see if he has any idea what he summoned. Rebus
was willing to assume he knows.

After managing to spot the entity himself, Solomon takes a
moment to study the spirit that appeared nearby, brow furrowing
just slightly at the difficulty of his magic and the strength of
the spirit it reveals to him. Here's where he hopes that the
command and his spirit shield are enough to keep them safe, he
supposes.
"Well then... go ahead, Murder-by-Moonlight. Tell us what you
know," he says, addressing it by its magically-deduced name. A
bit of a show of knowledge or power. A necessary thing when
dealing with the denizens of the Shadow.
He crosses his arms, a look on his face like he simply expects
to be obeyed, almost a hint of impatience to it.
It's clear enough that Rebus did something too; he'd felt it
within his periphery and saw the reaction from the other mage
(if only in the form of cat petting), but he's not about to
bring any attention to that.

“The boxes,” it says. It’s voice is a whisper, right against the
mages’ ears, despite how far away from them they are (wisely)
staying from Murder-By-Moonlight’s physical self.
“They flow to and from the little human’s play place,” it says.
“My nest there has been disturbed.”
“No matter how much I feed, he replaces his minions, and the
boxes continue to flow. I hate them. They are poison.”

Rebus stood with their cat winding between their feet, waiting
quietly for the exchange between Solomon and the spirit. It
isn't clear to them why they got a murder spirit responding to
the rite. Solomon was handling the questioning though, so Rebus
kept their piece.
The cat settled down and sat on Rebus' feet, and Rebus refocused
on the spirit, watching for any sudden moves.

"Boxes... what sorts of boxes? And where is this play place?" he
asks as he tries to process all of that.
He makes a mental note to come up with a spell to translate the
vague ways spirits communicate into direct messaging. Mind and
Spirit together, perhaps?
"The poison... I'm sure that's something we're going to be
trying to take away," he then adds on. This isn't exactly a
negotiation, but it might be good to point out the intention to
solve its problem nonetheless.

Murder-By-Moonlight heaves a sigh, and from beneath it’s paws
rumbles a thick mist, billowing out and covering the ground with
fog up to the mage’s ankles.
From the mists emerge images -- little playing figures, at
first. Like ghosts of children made from the fog. Then a truck
made of mist drives by, and figures are then unloading crates
from them. Finally, the children and the trucks vanish, and
what’s left is a sign: It reads Boston Children’s Museum.
“I have no home, now,” it whispers again. “No home, the boxes
have poisoned the well.”
