I don't mind the new members seeing my comments--as Tom Hanks
says in 'You've Got Mail' : "It's not personal, it's business."
;)

Lord you didn't have to accept me if you were so "cautious"
about my editing and judged me halfly on my username.

Please understand that we had to at least TRY and be selective.
Each of us gave our HONEST opinions, in order for me to be able
to decide who we would accept. If we had been THAT cautious, you
would not be here. You're here because we thought you deserved
to be. Any criticism you find on this thread is intended to be
constructive, which you are also welcome to add when new
auditions are submitted.
[sub]Wow, ok that sounded really formal :P[/sub]

I'm glad that I was accepted. Happy to read some objective
opinions haha. I hope not to disappoint. As for my lack of GoT
vids, I'll try to change that. There was just always different
stuff to vid. ;)

It wasn't anything personal, mate; just a knee-jerk reaction.
When I see a username like that, my expectations are raised
because I don't share a humour where I find that sort of handle
cute or funny--I see it as a blatant statement of either true or
false superiority.
As I said in my little blurb, I was prepared to be underwhelmed,
but from a knee-jerk reaction standpoint only--and, besides
that, I found that I wasn't (underwhelmed). Whatever my thoughts
about your handle, they don't continue on in my thoughts about
your editing. That's all just me doing my best to be objective
and honest, because I want this group to be even more awesome
than it already is and to constantly grow and succeed.
But, like I said, wasn't anything personal.

Well it's not intended to be 'cute' or 'funny' lulz bc god
forbid a vidder project anything but false modesty 'oh I hate my
videos!' and actually take pride in their work, though with that
said you don't even know what my username is referring to. Look
at the end of the day, I don't really care, I'm confident in my
editing abilities and if ppl don't like them that's fair enough,
however this judging system you guise have could have been
handled much more professionally and more objective than it was
- I just feel as if it was neither.

We always have to accept that when you apply for anything,
you're going to be judged, that's the nature of auditioning. I
personally feel really flattered by what you guys said (though
kind of apprehensive about letting you down, but I always am).
But anyway what I really wanted to say was that I really admire
your honesty and selectivity. I've known a lot of groups that
have fizzled out because of letting in too many people who
weren't really suited to the task, and they lose their spirit if
there's discord about who likes who's style, so I think it's
pretty important that people be honest about how they respond to
people's work. Not that that necessarily defines whether someone
is good or not, just whether they work with what the group wants
to be, you know.

Well, first of all it was never going to be professional. This
is a forum for making videos about a work of fiction that we
then upload on the internet for people to laugh at and mock and
occasionally appreciate. If this is was a profession, I'd be
getting paid :P
Second, members gave their opinions about auditions, but at the
end of the day, I made the final call (being leader and
everything means I get to be bossy like that sometimes :P).
I made that call, because I LIKED your editing. It flowed well,
your clips choices were perfect, your pacing was good, your
colourings were pretty and all your videos seemed to be
well-rounded, finished pieces, which cannot be said for a lot of
videos on youtube. Your entry into this group was based upon
those things, not whether or not your username was intended to
be 'witty'. So yes, I was very objective when picking you all.
I would just like to add that if you are unable to or feel
uncomfortable about accepting criticism, this may not be the
place you want to be, because I personally place other peoples
opinions and advice about my work very highly, because I think
it's the best way in which I evolve and improve as an editor,
and encourage it in this group. We are also all individuals, we
aren't just nameless, faceless icons floating around on the
internet, so we all have our opinions and this is a social group
as much as it an editing group.
Good lord, that was an essay!
So that was my official 'leader' point of view.
Personally, I think harrypfanmcc was wrong to judge you on your
username, but if you actually read her comment, you'll see her
final 'yes' was based upon your editing abilities, but on the
other hand, you may be over-reacting just a teeny tiny amount.
:)
Peace out, brethen! I'm going off to watch the Hobbit
now....again...<3
