Questions, questions, questions . . .

The most important part of this program is the "mentorship"
part. This is your chance to bombard a pro with plenty of
questions about photography! I'm here to help you in any way I
can, and the more you ask questions, interact, and share with me
and the group, the more you will get out of this. So fire away!
If the questions get a little too overwhelming, I'll let you
know, but in the meantime I want to make this an incredible
learning experience for you.

Sometimes it's pretty obvious where to set the focus point, like
the eyes in a portrait, but other times, not so much, at least
to me. I seem to be making a lot of mistakes in that realm. Can
you give me a starting point for deciding where to focus in a
landscape, a streetscape, a seascape?

OK...this may be a question perhaps outside the realm of the
course...if so, let me know. I am taking this course in advance
of a fall foliage trip to Vermont (possibly first week in
October, trying to understand potential peak period). I am
having issues understanding where the best
foliage/landscape/building locations may be to use what I learn
in this course. I am thinking focusing on a few sections of the
state may be the best as this is my first visit. Any
suggestions?

Hi Jay, I haven't really done any shooting in Vermont, so I
don't have any ideas for you. You might want to post this in the
discussion forum and see if any of the other participants have
shot up there.

I was back there a few years ago. Had the dates all set as I
was going with my daughter. We were lucky in that we had great
color in Woodstock, however when we drove north to the border,
most of the leaves were on the ground. There are "leaf peeper"
web sites that will keep you up to date. There is a definite
difference from north to south, but it is drivable in a few
hours. If you miss the peak in one location, a few hours in the
car can get you where you want to be.
