When did you decide that you would dedicate yourself to being an
illustrator? Was it your dream profession as a child? The truth
is that yes, i always wanted to be a cartoonist . I drew from a
very young age and it is what i have always liked to do. The
natural process was to professionalize it, even though my father
was not very happy about it. You know, it usually happens with
the "liberal professions." in the end i did what he wanted, as
it could not be otherwise. And my father, delighted.
Do you remember what your first serious assignment was as a
professional? If i remember correctly, some illustrations for a
textbook publisher. I have them at home and they are horrible
laughs . I don't understand how they could pay me! Carla

visibility and recognition and that begins

advertising, editorial illustration... What type of work do you
enjoy the most? With everyone. I always try to take the positive
part of an assignment and motivate myself, learn something new.
I like to try new things, face drawing challenges. Things that
make me grow.

Do you think that in our country the work of designers and
illustrators is valued enough? No, there is still a lot of work
to do. Especially in the rest of professional fields. You have
to know our profession and start giving it value. It is one of
the personal struggles that i have most deeply rooted in me.

out, and more graphic novels made by women. Can we talk about a
movement or a generation of female illustration in spain today?
Illustration is not the same as comics.
