The Set Up

World Conflict had nearly destroyed Earth and all its
inhabitants. The physical destruction had laid waste to once
prosperous civilizations. The fallout of war had rendered once
luscious lands barren. The natural balance of the way of life
was on the brink of extinction. The remaining collections of
people banded together into new countries and nations. In the
tragedy and destruction there was an awakening within the Earth
itself. New veins of resources and precious jewels never before
seen opened up. As the new found riches were explored things
began happening. The jewels in the different lands bestowed
great powers and abilities to certain people in each land. The
jewels themselves had mystical properties all their own. It
changed everything.
The vast majority of the countries and nations did not want to
wipe out life. They banded together and a near global harmony
and cooperation was reached.
The Sovereign Nation disagrees. The nation holds many of the
key remaining lands and does not see the point of or necessity
in cooperating.
A level of conflict would always exist as long as life did. It
is the nature of life. A compromise was made. A tournament
would be held every three years and the results would determine
the political standing, help shape policy, and provide an outlet
to resolve conflicts rather than see them escalate to war.
The Sovereign Nation has won the last two tournaments. A third
in a row would effectively give them a political stranglehold.

Opening round of the tournament. Kyushinawan (...) VS Sovereign
Nation (...)
Battle going well but SN fighter pulls out ability shouldn't be
able to (one of the powers of Kyushinawan gems). "We are
evolving" everyone shocked. Gets in bear hug and K'n fighter
sees the truth in the stone (soul of fighter from K'n in gem)

(last tournament they began taking the foes they defeated *found
out that the souls of the 'defeated' can transfer into the
shards they derive their power from*

OUTLINE
ESTABLISH SOVEREIGN NATION
Sovereign Nation marching on/destroying a city/township/whatever
(Oberlin Grasslands) .... display power of gems and show
moves/use that aren't native to them. Folks of place being
overtaken are bewildered before being subjugated. Several pages
of war mongering and setting up SN's might and stance of power
first.
At end of sequence show ships out in sea (Vilkhomen traders that
were en route) witnessing and turning around. "Let the run and
tell of what they've seen ... we hide our intentions no longer."
BUILD OTHER NATIONS
Over to Kyushinawa. Warrior training going on, show harmonious
use of land/resources folks just being good. Overall serene etc
... Hato introduced here. Go into Kyushinawa a bit and portray
their overall approach. Intro the current history of the
tournament (coming up) and why Hato is personally gunning for SN
fighters and to win. Elders/Nobles/whatever try to warn him that
the approach must be delicate and that the SN's real power isn't
from their political state or the one they could attain if they
win this upcoming tournament. Big new generation vs old
generation way of things arguing etc ...
wonder if the Hildurs of Vilkhomen deal with this ...

Soverign Nation actions of aggression:
Uses water shards to divert river underground to washout the
foundations of CALEO.
Uses fire shards to set OBERLIN GRASSLANDS aflame.
Uses stone shards to cause fractures/earthquakes in CRAITA.
