       Premise

       Not war, famine, or any other typical apocalyptic event brought
       the end times for man.  It was the universe itself.  Abruptly
       (in relative terms) Earth's sun began to change from our live
       giving ball of light to something else entirely ... pale
       blue/purple and giving off cold rather than heat.  Man was
       pushed up against the proverbial brick wall of survival.  The
       change was gradual in terms of man's time/lifespan but as with
       anything else, the slow steady crawl ends up at the finish line
       quicker than you expect.
       Several different societies were able to find solutions and
       (again, relatively) adapt to a new way of living under the new
       conditions.
       Not everyone was afforded that luxury, not everyone was in a
       part of the world with the means, and not everyone remained ....
       human.  Nature is adept at finding a way.  Life perseveres in
       the harshest of circumstances.  Evolution is the greatest trick
       in the bag.  Now, after countless ages the sun is changing again
       ... it's growing warmer as it was before.
       The children born of the sun are returning ... the children of
       the night sky are the main inhabitants of the Earth now.
