PERFECT
PAGE 1/PAGE 2
{Panel 1}
Full two page spread flowing left to right w/top down view. Top
left corner to 1/4 of the spread w/low, pale glow light of
bathroom. Woman sitting back against bathroom door. Wall
divide/bathroom door gives way to man on knees facing door
w/head down. Clearly distraught and almost defeated looking.
"light" from under door casts glow across man and fades to edge
of right page. Bedroom furniture misc in various forms of
visibility.
[CAPTION]Left side in open space of bathroom by woman -The world
burns all around us and that's just inside our bedroom. More so
than I can recount we've waged this war. Battle after battle
neither of us have managed what you'd call a win. Even in
winning there is nothing but hurt and loss. Knowing the outcome
the battles still have to be fought. Sometimes the only way
that you're love and caring can be believed is by standing
there, taking hit after hit and hitting back.
HER: "Just go ... I never should have said anything in the
first place. Go be a hero. Go save the world. Go be perfect."
HIM:   "I'm not ... baby I ... I'm not perfect."
HER: "Yeah yeah. You're so pitiful. You're right you're not
perfect. I'm sorry. You can only see half way across the
galaxy.  How stupid
of me to forget"
HIM: "That's not what I meant. I'm saying that there's plenty
about me that isn't ... Look I just want ..."
HER: "Save it. Or do you want a pity party? Yeah let's do
that. Instead of getting your ass where you need to be and
saving the **** world ... yeah
let's sit here and cry about how not perfect you
are.
Go ... get out. You want?! YOU WANT?! Sure,
because this is about YOU"
[CAPTION]Right side of page, top with following single word
captions going down page -She knows exactly what I mean but I
fall into the same damn traps
[CAPTION] Every
[CAPTION] Single
[CAPTION] Time
PAGE 3
{Panel 1}
Half page. Several heroes in air with various energy beam type
attacks all hitting a gnarly "underground" beast sort of
monster. Beast is still emerging/only partially out of ground.
Large half of panel in size. Heroes are all 1/3 scale in
reference. Our hero is center of grouping with female hero to
far left, male hero next to him, two female heroes flanking on
the right.
[CAPTION]It's the same thing over and over. People ... HEROES
afraid to make a hard decision. This Subterranean Selbsthass is
only a threat if you let it get half its body through to the
surface. They all KNOW its scales act like solar panels for all
practicalities. Why would they even let it get this far? Just
a couple of us can easily keep it contained even if we're caught
of guard by a break through. Its light sensitivity gives us
more than ample time to ...
{Panel 2}
Half page. The Subterranean Selbsthass makes a desperate
attempt to push through the ground and completely out onto the
surface. Two of the heroes are caught up in the whip of a
tentacle. Our hero, the other male, and the third female have
all dodged and are looking at the others in an "oh ****"
fashion.
PAGE 4
{Panel 1}
The three heroes pour on the power blasts and the beast is
clearly feeling it. It is roaring mightily as the energy beams
crash into it. The faces of the three heroes reflect the energy
they're pouring out. The scales of the beast can be seen
"shining" or "charging" despite its throws of pain. The beast
is fully out of the ground and up onto the surface. There's a
large hole with "cracks" in the ground off shooting from it.
The landscape clearly shows/feels the effects of the emergence
of the beast.
PAGE 5
{Panel 1}
Full page panel divided into "slits" that run diagonal/outward
from the top right corner of page. The beast is now fully
"charging" up and it is displayed with crackling "energy" and
"glowing" throughout its scales. The heroes are "larger" than
the scale of panels firing in toward the panels/beast. Very top
is heroin, our main hero is center page, 1/4 below him is other
male. Two females caught up in tentacle hit are at bottom of
page. They're in various stages of trying to pick themselves
off the ground.
PAGE 6
{Panel 1}
Beast is rearing up to unleash huge attack. Heroin is screaming
in from left physically and dialogue. Main hero is mid panel
urging on his two fellow heroes as he pours on the energy.
Other male hero is rearing back to try and beat the beast to the
punch with the big shot.
HEROIN: "LOOK OUT he's charged up too much! You're
just feeding him and making him stronger!"
MAIN HERO: "PUSH IT ... he can't take much more. Only
reason he's not down yet is because he's managed to break the
surface."
{Panel 2}
Heroin has hit main hero with a shoulder block, has other hero
in energy lasso, and is flying away from beast "upward towards
panel." Beast is lurching forward and beginning to let out
massive attack.
HEROIN: "Please let me have been in time."
MALE HERO:     "Oh shiiiiiii"
{Panel 3}
Beast let's loose a gnarly, overly large attack that "shakes"
entire panel. Scales, eyes exhibit another level of "being
alive." Beam pierces top border of panel and goes into left
edge of page. Main hero hands out putting up just enough of a
shield to deflect brunt of attack but not enough to keep from
feeling it. Both he and the heroin are shielded but body
language shows they feel the blast. Third hero takes brunt of
blast. Head flung back w/blood spat from mouth/nose and 'burn'
type of coloring on portion of face hit by beam.
PAGE 7
{Panel 1}
Heroin and main hero are hovering over third hero. They're
behind a wall/building? Third hero is "smoking" some w/uniform
not torn, but disintegrated? in parts across chest/shoulder from
beam. Portions of chest/arm/face show radiation type burning.
Other two Heroins entering frame from left.
HERO: "He's breathing. He'll be ok but he took a hell
of a shot. Good thing this bastard hasn't been above ground but
for a few minutes.
Anything bigger than that and this would be
really bad. How are you two?"
HEROINS:     "Yeah"
HEROIN: "What were you thinking? You KNOW better than
that. In its charging cycle it can absorb energy at a rate
almost a hundred
times what it can normally. We need to end
this ... NOW. Your head on straight?"
HEROIN 2: "Not the time ..."
HEROIN 3:     "Look"
{Panel 2}
Peering out from behind wall/building? Heroin and Hero are
sizing up approach to the beast. Color/vibrancy of beast is
clearly more dull than before. Huge expenditure of energy
evident. It has turned and is heading towards city. There is a
trail of dug up/plowed ground showing its trail very clearly.
HERO: "Yeah ... yeah I'm good. Thank you for that a
minute ago. I had blinders on. Not really sure why. I just, I
... there's not time for any
explanation right now. We need to end
this as quick as possible. You two, come with me. Go high and
sting it on top of it's head. Get
it looking up. You come low with me.
When it rears up get that lasso around its head as best you can,
give it leeway but hold tight. I'm
going to come right up under this ugly
sun'ova and hammer it. When I do you pull and you two give max
burst straight down on its
head.  It's night night time.
{Panel 3}
The two heroins are up top pelting the beast who's head is
turned back and up towards the annoyance. The third heroin has
thrown out her energy lasso towards the neck of the beast. The
Hero is flaying low to the far right of the panel towards the
beast. He's low as to avoid detection and get in the proper
position.
{Panel 4}
The beast is fully reared up and towards the two flying Heroins
who have "moved out of the way" upward to get in position for
their second act. The Heroin on the ground is "pulling" has
hard as she can at the lasso that is around the beast's neck in
order to completely flip it's momentum.
HERO: "H1 H2 get ready. Heroin PULL NOW with
EVERYTHING you've got!"
HEROIN:       "UUUGGGGHHHHHHH"
PAGE 8/9
Two page splash. "Background" is of beast's head slamming
against/into the ground. 3 Panels diagonal cascade from top
left to bottom right.
{Panel 1}
Heroins above had of monster readying to let loose full energy
blasts. Heroin on ground yanking with entirety of might. Hero
double uppercutting beast under bottom jaw. Clear impact from
punches and effect of lasso being pulled on neck.
{Panel 2}
The follow through of the punch sends the beast hurtling up in
the air. He's also yanked backward by Heroin's lasso and the
mighty force of her pull. The two Heroins in the sky unleash
their beams directly into the side/back of the beast's head. It
is clear the beast is in pain and feeling the full brunt of the
actions taken by the heroes to stop it.
{Panel 3}
The impact of the beast's head is jarring and spills out into
the other panels/page. All three Heroins are still exerting
their efforts even at the point of impact. The beast's
head/expression wears the impact loudly. It's body/tail? also
relay the force with which it is pummeled into the ground.
Page 10
First six panels are "same" square 3/per line with just various
expressions of conversing as our Hero is interviewed by various
news/online outlets about the event. Seventh panel is
rectangular panel across bottom. Dialogue goes from left to
right/top to bottom across the outlets.
{Panel 1}
VUE-TV tag banner. Female interviewer with back to panel. HERO
is in frame.
HERO: "This is a perfect example of not taking things
for granted. Normally these Selbsthass surface breaks really
aren't an issue. Most of them
are just confused and end up coming up
because they get turned around on themselves."
{Panel 2}
LIVELIFE tag banner. Young kid, hat backwards, phone up
streaming live.
HEROIN1: "Kind of sad in a way. They don't mean to be ...
mean but you know"
HEROIN2: "yeah there's not really an option that isn't
forceful."
{Panel 3}
NNTV banner..
MALE: "Still though, we've got to take the action
necessary you know?! This one happened to break all the way
through and when that happens
the game changes entirely. Regardless of
intent the nature of the beast, so to speak, takes over."
{Panel 4}
NewsINT banner.
HEROIN: "It's just animalistic. It's a natural response
you know? You and I can't help your biology any more than the
Selbsthass can.   I hate that
we have to end up handling it this way
sometimes. Still though, the safety of all involved is ...
ALWAYS the most important thing."
{Panel 5}
SkyBabble banner.
HERO: "We never, ever intend to harm or hurt, in ANY
way ... our nature is not to do anything like that. The call to
action is what it is
though and the situation dictates the
response, you know? We've got to do what we ..."
{Panel 6}
LOCALSPOT banner.
HERION: "... have to do. Ugly sometimes sure. In the
end though, it's about helping and ensuring the lives of
everyone ... ESPECIALLY the
the Selbsthass. Things happen and they
can't control what happens next. They just end up a passenger
on a ride they don't really want
to be on ..."
{Panel 7}
Wide panel along bottom of page. Hero is a 'moving' image.
Full/complete image speaking to reporter w/transition to
'turning and walking away' w/transition to 'flying off panel.'
GloboNews banner.
HERO: "... yeah it's kind of like that. They're
buckled into the passenger seat of a car on the highway and
there's someone that looks just like
them behind the wheel, flooring it."
REPORTER: "The Selbsthass, are we still talking about it?"
HERO: "... they can see it all, feel it all, and they
KNOW what's going on but .... but they ..."
REPORTER:     "I don't follow what you're uh ... hey!  Don't
take off we're still ...."
HERO: "... they aren't in control. They're being
used by their own ...."
[CAPTION] Inset on last panel - Every. Single. Time. Just when
you think you get it. Just when you think there's a break
through. Just when you think you find an answer ...
PAGE 11
{Panel 1}
Worn and weary hero is back home. Woman is embracing him,
loving look on her face. Kind and gentle aura about her.
They're in the living room/tv room of their home.
[CAPTION]... the Goddamned questions get changed on you.
HERO:             "Baby I ... while I was out there I ... I was
able to see something that I ..."
WOMAN: "ssssshhh you let me hold you honey. That was
crazy out there today. You never know when something like that
is going to rear
its ugly head and attack. So much is
buried underneath the surface and we just never know when or how
it's going to boil over
and spill out everywhere. I LOVE YOU.
{Panel 2}
Woman and Hero facing each other. She has taken his hands in
hers and is hold them. She is staring up lovingly and sees ONLY
him. I wary but sincere 'smile' is on his face as he gazes back
into her yes.
[CAPTION] One minute you're being torn down. You can't do
anything right. All of your efforts only make it worse. The
next? You're the single most amazing thing that exists.
HERO: "You know that no matter what boils over out
there or in here, I am standing right here, love."
WOMAN: "I know that. I do."
{Panel 3}
Same panel as previous but 'zoomed in/over' to TV where news
announcement is on. Hero and woman are still in same pose/hand
in hand.
TV: " .... which all appears to be related
to the events earlier today that saw the Selbsthass erupt
through the surface outside of the city.
It reared its ugly head and was on
the brink of doing very real damage to itself and potentially
countless people's lives.  Thankfully it
was taken care of by our .... WAIT
... WAIT A MINUTE I'M GETTING A BREAKING ALERT HERE ...
[CAPTION] And then the world, karma, and everything else
conspires against you.
{Panel 4}
Small inset on panel 3. Close up, from "behind" heads of woman
and hero as they've turned to look at the TV.
PAGE 12
Whole page is singular picture with four panels \two on right
and two on left/ flanking main image of enormous Selbsthass
emerging from the hole made by the other earlier. This is
clearly an entirely different beast. It comes from the same
place but is so, so much more. Four panels contain smaller
versions of the creature in various states of 'attack' on the
surroundings. There's one flying, one releasing fire, one
tearing up the ground, and one chasing after people that had
gathered to check out the scene from earlier. The four panels
sit in the top half of the page. The bottom of the page is the
original hole being ripped open by the new beast. It is the
original emergence intensified and amped up 100 fold. It has
tentacles emerging in other spots and is pushing up other spots
in the ground. Cracks in the surface are running all over the
place.
{Panel 1}
The one tearing up the ground is just devouring everything.
Plant life, soil, and road.
{Panel 2}
The one releasing fire is flailing wildly with no rhyme or
reason. No direction. Everything must burn.
{Panel 3}
The one flying is searching for something. It is aiming.
{Panel 4}
The creature chasing the people is lashing with tentacles, mouth
gaping open. The people are fleeing in absolute fear. This is
very direct, very targeted
[CAPTION]Everything you thought you knew goes right out the
window. That grasp you thought you'd gotten on how things were?
It wasn't even a loose grip.
PAGE 13
Soft lighting/sepia to color tones. Panels set up as a window
from behind our Hero 'looking out' of the window but 'seeing in'
and seeing events from the past.
[CAPTION] Before ...
{Panel 1}
Woman sitting on couch looking up at our hero. Clearly yelling.
Hands up in rage, tears in eyes.
WOMAN: "It isn't JUST ... I FEEL BAD. It's SO MUCH
MORE"
{Panel 2}
Woman and our hero are in a vehicle. She's despondently looking
out her window as he's trying to look at her.
WOMAN: " ... it never really goes away. It's always
there just sitting and festering."
{Panel 3}
The two are laying in bed facing each other.
WOMAN: "It builds and builds. No it wasn't just a
bad day today. It's always a bad day even when it's good."
{Panel 4}
They're in the kitchen sitting at the table. She's clearly
agitated.
WOMAN: "No, you can't understand how that is. To
have such a wonderful day but have this **** voice nagging you
telling you how you don't deserve it
... you don't deserve to have good things or to feel good at
all."
{Panel 5}
Her hand is holding a picture of two young boys age 10 and 5.
Only hand and picture in panel.
WOMAN: "... and then the damage it does to those
good, beautiful things. I can't keep doing this. I can't keep
hurting
the people I love. It pisses me off
that I do these things even though I don't want to."
{Panel 6}
Woman is standing 'hunched' slightly screaming at the top of her
lungs as our hero stands there, feeling hurt.
WOMAN: "... and it Pisses me off you're too ****
stupid to get out of the Goddamned way! MOVE. LEAVE. LET GO."
PAGE 14
Another full page shot with inset panels. One top left and the
other bottom right. Big page view is pulled away and from up
above as an 'eye in the sky' news helicopter would see it. The
two female heroins are both in the air hitting the biggest beast
with energy beams. The four other smaller beast can be seen
wreaking havoc in various states across the page. There are
local security forces on the scene as well.
{Panel 1}
News reporter on TV.
REPORTER: "We are live on the scene here as a
Selbsthass the like of which we've never seen before is
unleashing all sorts of ... hell"
{Panel 2}
Heroin and male hero from before are rushing to the site.
HEROIN:               "... where is he?"
MALE H:                " No clue."

PAGE 15
Three panels on page. Two run parallel to each other 3/4 down
the page. Third panel runs across bottom of page. Woman on
left and our hero on the right. Their hands still clasped
breaking panels and coming together in middle of page.
{Panel 1}
Woman with longing in her face.
WOMAN: "I need you to stay"
{Panel 2}
Man clearly not wanting to go.
HERO: "I have to go ..."
{Panel 3}
Only their arms/hands in panel. The hands are releasing their
clasp.
WOMAN:             "Stay and save me."
HERO: "If I don't go there won't be anything to
save."
PAGE 16
Panels cascade/spiral down the page.
{Panel 1}
Over shoulder shot from behind woman looking towards open door
where fleeting view of our hero flying off.
[CAPTION]Why is it always made to be a choice? A choice as if I
don't want to stay or don't want to fix it all right then and
there.
{Panel 2}
Viewpoint as if looking in from outside. Woman has blank stare
on her face.
[CAPTION]I'm so perfect that I run off to save everyone else. I
never stay or go when I need to. It's always the opposite
action I take.
{Panel 3}
Woman's head turns and is looking at nook table up against wall.
[CAPTION]Impossible situations no matter what. There is no
winning. No getting ahead. No getting it right.
{Panel 4}
Zoom in/close up of nook table. Prescription pill bottles in
full view.
[CAPTION]Every decision is wrong. How do I fight an enemy
that's already changed course before I've even fired a shot?
{Panel 5}
Woman reaching out for bottles.
[CAPTION]Stay and her devices work against both of you. Leave
and her devices are unchecked and run rampant. Either way
damage is catastrophic.
{Panel 6}
Viewpoint from woman looking down at prescription bottle in
hand.
[CAPTION]Hole in the head or hole in the heart, those are the
options. Neither is something I want and both are fatal.
{Panel 7}
Woman with eyes closed tears streaming down her face. Her hand
closed tightly around prescription bottle. Her entire body
trembling.
WOMAN: "... one reason. Can you give me just one
reason ..."
PAGE 17
{Panel 1}
Half page panel/top half of page. Three panels across bottom
half of page. The Heroins are attempting to lasso the big
Selbsthass. It has managed to surface some more but isn't
completely out of the ground. One of the smaller ones is down
on the ground seemingly having been beaten. The other three are
giving the authorities all they can handle. The male hero from
before is is flying above the beast firing energy directly down
on it. Top right of the panel is a "flash" in the sky.
[CAPTION]Attack. Head on, full bore, uncensored attack. No
holding back. Shove this son of a **** so far back down that
hole it wants to dig deeper the next time it thinks about coming
up for air.
{Panel 2}
The authorities looking up. The downed creature in some kind
of special netting. One of them is pointing. Hopeful looks on
their faces.
{Panel 3}
Blurred streak of our hero charging head first at the enormous
Selbsthass.
HERO:                "AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH"
{Panel 4}
Zoomed out view of our hero b-lining for the creature. The
Heroins are holding their lassos stead fast while the other male
hero is keeping its attention with blasts.
[CAPTION]Full throttle. Don't hold back. Face it. Tear it
down. Finish it. Don't allow it to break free.
PAGE 18
Full page splash with our hero 'Buscema punching' the
Selbsthass. There are three visages of the hero with a 'right,
left, right' punching pattern. Huge impact energy crackles
throughout page. Pure unadulterated rage on our hero's face.
PAGE 19
{Panel 1}
The huge Selbsthass tries to mount a fight back but our Hero
musters another huge punch
[CAPTION]It is unrelenting but so am I
{Panel 2}
The tentacles of the creature sneak low and wrap around our
heroes legs. He notices but is caught off guard.
[CAPTION]It does everything it can but so do I
{Panel 3}
Our Hero has reached down and grabbed the tentacles. He yanks
the creature by its own extremities and yanks it forward.
{Panel 4}
Our Hero 'baseball' punches the creature with a double axe
handle type punch. Huge impact across the panel.
{Panel 5}
The creature is down. Our Hero is falling to his knees.
PAGE 20/21
Slightly angled, overhead view of the scene. Full spread of
aftermath of battle and damage across the land. Authorities and
scattered people in varying stages of tending/being tended too.
Helicopters (news/police) swirl overhead. The Heroins are
making sure the biggest beast doesn't/can't get up with a 'lasso
netting' while the Heroin and other male Hero are helping
contain the smaller beasts. Damage everywhere, of some sort.
[CAPTION]... the damage is never fully grasped until the battle
has rested
PAGE 22
Full page splash with clean up crews/etc all around battle
sight. Cloudy w/ray or two of sun beaming through.
{Panel 1}
Left side 1/3 way down. A couple of workers are staring at the
size of the trenches dug and holes left from the battle.
[CAPTION] You can't see the marks left by the fighting ...
{Panel 2}
Left side 1/3 of the way up the page. Same workers are
'measuring' or 'gauging' the depth of one of the holes.
[CAPTION] ... or depth of the toll taken by the fighting
PAGE 23
Full Page splash of almost completely "fixed" landscape of where
battle took place. Only a small group of workers. Sun is
shining brighter/less clouds.
{Panel 1}
1/3 of the way down the page, right side. Gravel truck on side,
workers smoothing out fill for one of the holes.
[CAPTION] ... by glossing over and putting a patch on a
festering wound ...
{Panel 2}
1/3 of the way up the page right side. Workers giving 'all
good' to each other over smoothed out patch to crater.
[CAPTION] ... and just pretending everything is ok.
PAGE 24
Two half page 'background panels' top is of entry to home while
bottom is upstairs/etc. Top half more lightly/vibrantly colored
while bottom half darker and more grimly colored.
{Panel 1}
Close up of Heroe's face, relieved and weary but ok.
HERO: "Baby we got it done. That thing was nasty
but ... we're good now. Should be the last we see of that
thing."
{Panel 2}
Withdrawn, overhead and behind a bit with the house out in front
of our hero.
HERO:               "Love?!!  Baby?!?"
{Panel 3}
Our Hero's head looks down at stand against wall where pill
bottles were. They're open, one on its side, and several pills
scattered.
HERO: "No ... no no ... no no no NO NOOOOO
{Panel 4}
Hero busting through bedroom door to see room in slight disarray
but no signs of wife.
HERO:               "BABY??!!!
{Panel 5}
From inside bathroom looking out into bedroom. Hero turns to
see/hear wife's cell phone ringing on bathroom counter.
[CAPTION] The devil is always in the details. Everyone is so
busy looking at what they want to see, the miss what they
actually see.
PAGE 25
'Rewind' of previous page. Panel for panel and splash for
splash.
{Panel 1}
Hero's face but able to see behind him out front door. No car
in driveway.
{Panel 2}
Withdrawn, overhead and behind a bit with the house out in front
of our hero. Car keys/purse not on table, closet door open and
mess of shoes on floor.
{Panel 3}
Head looking down where pill bottles were. Trail of pills on
ground towards door, phone book open with hastily written info
for clinic.
{Panel 4}
Bedroom in slight disarray. Clothes hanging out of dresser,
luggage back on floor open with a couple things tossed in.
{Panel 5}
Hero looking in at bathroom. Pills on floor, phone ringing
w/clinic number visible.
[CAPTION]We miss what is right there. We are so caught up in
ourselves that we don't see the point blank tells of the truth
we are avoiding. We avoid the truth because it hurts and
because it is hard.
PAGE 26
Full page image of yard/home/Hero flying out the door and up
into the sky. Hero 'bends up' out of front door on top right of
page, diagonally down toward bottom left, and is seen with a
determined yet worried look on his face dead center of the page.
{Panel 1}
Rectangular/long panel along bottom 1/3 of page. Hero racing
through air as fast as he can. Tear streaming from his eye.
HERO: "Please no, please no, please no"
[CAPTION]We ignore the truth because it exposes our own faults.
The issues that overwhelm us, tackle us to the ground, and bury
us under the reality of our world are always swept aside for a
prettier picture. We go searching in hopes of finding that
greener grass on the other side of the fence instead of watering
our own and making it that which we desire.
PAGE 27
Two half page panels. First one is behind hero as he screams
down towards clinic. A few people recognize what's coming and
are moving out of the way. Second panel is at reception desk
with Hero leaning over, pain across his face, begging to know
where his wife is as the receptionist is attempting to have him
calm down and speak to him but her words trail off into nothing
as he's too frantic to hear her.
{Panel 1}
[CAPTION]That's how we get phrases like the ugly truth. We've
festered it by letting it go unchecked and untreated. The
wounds get infected and are left to rot. Instead of taking the
time to nurture and assist we instead turn a blind eye and leave
it to fend. We pay no attention to anything.
{Panel 2}
RECEPTIONIST:       "She's fi~~~~~~~"  "Room 0825 bu~~~~~"
[CAPTION]Except it always comes back to us. We always have to
face it. Instead of dealing with it initially and growing from
it we turn it into something so much bigger than we could
imagine. Then it rears its head and strikes.
PAGE 28
Full page image with panels inset. From door looking into room
where Wife is in hospital bed mussy but otherwise fine. A mix
of regret/shame on her face but a relieved grin/smile as well.
Panels fall along left side of page.
{Panel 1}
Doctor putting hand on Hero's shoulder.
DOCTOR: "Your wife came to us. She didn't do
anything. She didn't attempt to do anything. In fact she ..."
{Panel 2}
Hero turning to Doctor, both hurt and anger as his eyes are
still wet from tears.
HERO: "SHE'S IN A HOSPITAL BED WITH IVs ...
NOTHING HAPPENED?!"
{Panel 3}
Doctor with the 'hands together in prayer' gesture trying to get
Hero's attention.
DOCTOR: "Nothing happened because she called a
LITERAL life line. Everything running through her head was
telling her
to do something, to take action.
She did. She took action that saved her life. She ..."
[CAPTION] When the truth strikes it never misses. It lands
painful, hurtful blow after blow square to your jaw and heart.
It takes your breath away and leaves you reeling.
PAGE 29
Full page image. Hero collapsed at side of the bed, head on bed
with wife's hands on his back/back of head comforting him.
Panels mirror inset from Page 28.
{Panel 1}
Wife looking down with loving hurt, hurt for what her actions
have done to our Hero. Hurt because her intention is never to
do this to him or anyone else.
WIFE: "Baby I'm OK. I promise."
{Panel 2}
Hero looking up towards wife.
HERO: "I want to believe that ... but you're
here. That tells me something different. I can't just ..."
{Panel 3}
Wife 'bearing down' looking Hero straight in the eye ... panel
is from viewpoint of Hero's POV.
WIFE: "I'm OK. I had to let things out. You
taking off like that ... you HAVE TO and I know that. But my
mind doesn't
like to agree with reality all the
time. I needed help and YOU needed to help ... somewhere else.
That's OK.  It
doesn't always make sense with me
and you know that. We need to talk and we need to get real with
each other ...
but I'm OK"
PAGE 30
Doctor explaining .... 72hr hold, etc.
PAGE 31
thought provoked about just bottling it up and not dealing with
it etc ....
As they all walk off a portion of the 'sealed' hole gives way
______________________________________ LATER IN
ISSUES_______________________________________
72hr hold after session with doc ... after coming out he gently
puts out his hand for hers. She wants to, hesitates not out of
unwillingness but out of fear. She knows he loves, cares, but
... but is he still THERE?. Is this hand out there out of
anger, obligation, or something else? What will happen if she
reaches out -> as the captions read the panels show her hand
reaching out and the moment it is in his they're gone ... he
takes her straight up into the sky, into a clearing the clouds.
It is just them. Nothing else but them in an embrace his eyes
gazing straight into hers. She goes to speak but he cuts her
off with "it is only us" She goes to speak again and he cuts
her off again with "JUST US" they gaze, she leans in to him and
they continue the embrace forehead to forehead with the sun
gleaming behind them/through them.
"The boys ..."
"... are always first. They're safe. You know this."
"The world is burning. You have to ... only you can ..."
"LET IT. There is ONLY you and me right now. If you're not in
it, then the world can burn for all I care."
FINAL IMAGE IN BOOK .... Hero/Wife holding hands walking down
'town square' sidewalk with two sons w/them. 'small cracks'
snaking way towards them.
