ARN ANDERSON ON MAKING IT TO FINALS OF WCW WORLD TITLE
TOURNAMENT AT STARRCADE 1995 (after beating FLAIR in semis on
first Nitro of DEC 1995):

"Well it's like this Gene. The difference between Arn Anderson
and Hulk Hogan is that one of us is a former World Champion.
One of us had an empire laid out in front of him while one of us
had an empire built on his back. One of us stood by and watched
as others did the dirty work while one of us couldn't hardly be
seen for the dirt. One of us held a title for years while one
of us defended a title for years. One of us showed up here and
there on the white horse to save the day while one of us looked
up from pile of bodies and said WE DON'T NEED SAVING ...
... night in and night out I busted my hump and MADE the WCW
Television Title a hot property. I MADE the people tune in to
see just how was going to get beat up next. I got scheduled on
every danged card because the NWA and WCW couldn't afford NOT to
have me out there putting in the work. The whole thing just
didn't go off unless The Enforcer was out there making it so.
While you ride around in parades on the back of fancy cars I'm
continuing to bust heads. You NEED a production Hogan but The
Enforcer IS the production here in WCW. You put on a hell of a
show Hogan but around here you've got to put in the work, get
yourself dirty, and earn it each and every day of the week. You
might have had a red carpet rolled out to get you on down here
but let me set it straight right now. The only red on the
carpet now is going to be coming from someone's lip and between
the two of us I know who I'd be putting money on. I think it's
quite appropriate you wear yellow Hulk because that's all I see
running up your belly and down your spine. See, the difference
between 'ol Arn Anderson from Hogan is that 'ol Arn here ain't
afraid to get knocked on his backside. Not only that, but after
I've had my butt planted - AND I HAVE A TIME OR TWO - I get
right back up and in the face of who did it. I look 'em dead in
the eye and dare 'em to do it again and after I dare 'em, I make
'em or they're the ones looking up at me. You see Hogan, you've
NEVER had anyone do that to you. Yeah you got the better of me
at Fall Brawl and whalloped me but good. Thing is, better men
than you haven't kept me down and lesser men have hurt me worse.
If you think, for one second, that I'm staying down you've got
another thing coming. Because HOGAN, the man that keeps Arn
Anderson down YOU ARE NOT. You ain't as bad as the Russians,
you wish you had the tenacity of Magnum TA, you sure as heck
ain't as good as Curt Hennig, you don't have the bite of Rick
Rude, you don't have the brute strength of Luger, and no matter
how many times you lean over that top rope cupping your ear you
can't channel the energy like Sting, you certainly don't have
the heart of a Warrior, and by God you can't hold a candle to
Flair. Come the final of the WCW World Title Tournament at
Starrcade you'll find out just what the difference is between
'ol Arn Anderson and you. Just in case you might not know
somehow, I'M THE MEASURING STICK and come the end of the night
at Starrcade you'll know first hand what you don't measure up
to."
