A place to discuss CC in league of legends, one of the most
important things in league.

A little training when it comes to CC, coming from an MMO
background...
Crowd Control is the bread and butter of team compositions. This
fact hasn't changed since the early days of gaming. If you can
lock down an opponent long enough you can win, typically. Of
course there are a few exceptions to this rule (e.g., super
tanky 1v5).
When it comes to CC there are two types Hard CC and Soft CC
hard CC is the control that forces a player to be unable to do
anything. These are your stuns and fears. When building a team
comp with hard CC in mind, you would want to follow up with a
heavy burst to take them down in the time they are CC'd. An
example is our death ball. This team comp focuses heavily on
hard CC (Galio ult, Amumu Ult, Sejuani Ult) to keep the team in
place long enough to widdle them down to death.
Soft CC is your slows and roots that still allow players to
actually do things like attack or run away. When dealing with
these types of CC you'd want a team comp that can sustain when
giving out heavier damage, not necessarily burst. The issue is,
if you have a heavy burst team and they can still move and you
can't finish, you're done. So you would compensate by having a
quicker run speed and consistent attack. Pairing these up with a
soft CC is almost essential. In Death Ball we compensate well
because along with our hard CC we also have a couple slows
(e.g., Galio Q).
In the world of LoL the CC doesn't last very long one way or
anther so it's important to think "If I land this ability, can I
kill them in ~2 seconds?" If the answer is no, wait for backup
that can assist.

Hard CC works great for that "useless" support on bot with the
ADC.
For those moments of "Can I kill them in 1-2 seconds?" play
sion. The answer is normally yes.

Back on the topic of CC:
When playing a taunt champ, BE WARY OF THE TARGET YOU TAUNT.
Rammus taunts sion? Well, Sion needed another kill, my bad.
Shen taunts Nautalis? Ya we didnt need our tank to peel the
enemies off the carries anyway. Shen being snared at point
blank range by naut is no problem...ETC
When playing a channeled ability champ - HARD CC WILL STOP YOU.
Wait until the enemy can't CC you easily, or even at all.
EXAMPLE: playing galio, you press R in the middle of the other
team, failing to watch closely to Xin Zhao's triple shot
knockup. WHEN HIS SPEAR IS GLOWY, YOU DONT WANT. it WILL cancel
your ult. Ditto on taunting garen.
Soft CC wins fights that aren't decided by the nukes. Don't
rely on soft CC to keep them from getting to who they want.
What soft CC lets you do is poke and isolate them. It's really
not designed to prevent the enemy from fighting, only make it
harder for them.

Thinking about the chenneling champs it reminds me of our DONG
build. Basicly Fiddle has a dong and so does karma and we run
about using them on people. it makes a really good double jungle
roaming type of thing, and you get to say dong alot, There is a
3 champ coming out in the future who can dong people it will be
funny

Don't forget Nocturn. He has a scary dong. Also malzahar. He
pukes dong onto teams. Swain uses his bird's dong to dong
dongers. Not that Swains dongbird can be interupted while its
dongs people.
The non interuptable dongs are OP. Garen and Wukong like
swinging their dongs around and slapping everyone in the face.
Wukong gets so good he knocks everyone up. Viktor's burning
dong is a pain.
