What does meta mean to you
By: jachan Date: June 17, 2013, 1:59 pm

I've been playing games forever. I used to play a ccg at the
highest competitive level, so I usually relate all games to ccg.
To me metagaming is knowing what is powerful at that time and
countering it. In league there is know metagaming, there is just
metacopying. Top, Mid, Jungle, Bot, Support. There is a 90%
chance you will face a team with that comp. We need to metagame.

I think everyone playing tankish dive heavy bruisers would
wreck, because if you take out the enemy teams' ADC and AP it
gives them 2 less champs and no damage.

Right, Meta means to me being aware of what commonly works in X
(in this case League). Metagaming would be keeping close eye on
FoM, what the "pros" are doing, and also what the updates are/
will be. Metagaming also incorporates the utilizing of this
knowledge.
In League we do need to be versed in what is common
(solo/solo/duo top/mid/bot - jungle) with the duo being teams
support/ADC. Reason WHY this is is because jungle/mid provide
variable pressure anywhere on the map. Top is for those champs
who late game and need the minions to themselves. Also helps
with extra xp advantage as there is no sharing in a solo lane.
Duo bot is where alot of fluctuation happens. Meta says
support/ADC get bot as that give the ADC minion gold, and a
helper for when the lanes gets dangerous.
Why this works, it provides 3 lanes for gold gain on the end
game champs. It provides 2 champs the ability to farm and help
support other lanes. it provides the highest DPS champ a
bodyguard, initiator, whatever.
The Jungler - know why this champ is the FoM, what their
strengths/weaknesses are, and what's the newest guide out.
All this goes for every above listed role.
Thats the awareness part.
The incorporating this knowledge means either meta building to
counter that, or take that knowledge and use it to fill the
holes in your non- meta composition.
A good example is DOUBLE JUNGLE
a good double jungle team will put the ADC mid as its like bot
but without the 2 meatshie....supports.
the bot will be the champ that needs farm but can play at the
tower and still not fall behind.
the top is as normal.
The junglers - one camps blue buff half of map (divide map down
mid lane) the other, red buff. choose champs accordingly.
The using the meta knowledge here is that the non meta team WILL
know where the enemy jungler is at simply because he WILL be
following the FoM/newest guide anyway. you almost don't need
wards because of this. The double junglers will be in the
jungle ONLY when buffs are up/ the lanes are pushed out.
otherwise you are ganking a lane
any lane. both go mid, get that ADC first blood. W/E. This
works with good teamwork, and also the enemy is meta
build...they are not expecting to face 3 mid at 3 minutes, or
have a mundo-olaf invading their jungle.

Yes double post
The one aspect of meta gaming that rarely gets tossed out is
mind games.
Know how to make the enemy do what you want/ know what they are
doing regardless.
You want an ADC to rage? go bot with a double fighter comp and
literally jump on them without heed to the fact there are
supposed to be a 2v2 on bot. that support makes a good
secondary target if the ADC is twitchy (literally twitchy, not
the rat Twitch...stupid stealth) A raging ADC is a vengeful
ADC. They will do stupid aggressive things to get back you OR
not do enough reckless things (lurking for that weak/easy kill)
and end up shutting themselves down.
You want a jungler to panic? Invade his jungle, take both his
buffs, and keep yours. infact, have two champs on your team
taht make good junglers, one being a laner (like mid or top) and
have a rading aprty of 4 go get enemy blue at 1:55, while laner
jungler gets Red on his own.
Want mid to ragequit? use good positioning to make sure your
team is in a vulnerable position on top and bot
alot.
The enemy jungler will go to those lanes to try and get kills.
Gank mid
ALOT.
Want top to be worthless to his team? Go duo top, give smite to
mid, and just amke sure you never
ever
push top. last hit ONLY, and if ANYONE comes top
kill them.
this will mess with tops strategy enough, they may even change
their build path. leave them alone? they will try to free
farm, ensuring you ALWAYS have a 4v5.

FOM = Flavor of the Month in league time a month is 2 years.
Lots of good stuff. I think different stuff like double jungle
or double top smite mid is good. But whats really helps doing
the crazy stuff is making sure to push objectives also. like
towers and dragon. We played against a team that did double top
and ultra aggressive bottom lane. We played ultra passive and
focused on getting objectives. it was close until about 24
minutes when we took baron and aced them, and aced them a couple
more times before we finished. They were scary early/mid, but
they never pushed towers that hard and didnt give a crap about
the jungle, so our gold lead had to be really high even though
kills were close.
I think Ray is right about greifing lanes until they cry, but we
need to take towers off the back of their rage.
I think we should test some double jungle comps and try and get
early dragon and early mid tower

more posting ??? I remember back in the day Ray and I going
forums nutzo
I think there is alot of articles that enforce a crappy meta. A
lot of us have played MMO's for a long time. Think how stupid it
is to have a character (support) that is completely useless in a
team fight other that 1 ability. Random Noob well guys im half
your level and I can only cc someone once per hour and I'm
wearing the gear from my level 3 quests, can I join your group?
There is no way you would let this person into your group, the
ONLY reason this works is because the other team has a
completely useless person on their team. Warding is important
and objective control but why not have someone who can also
fight.

I'd like to mention the "support" should be anything but a
worthless addition to a seemingly 4v4 game.
A Proper support may not be a team fight bursty nuky, or ultra
tanky champ, but what they are is the team coordinator, the map
awareness enhancer (not just wards but by actually LOOKING AT
AND MAKING PEOPLE AWARE). They provide sustain,DPS,CC or some
combo of all the above. They enhance the Carry(ies) in someway
(Cait or Vayne/Nunu works wonders because bloodboil is OP).
Some support simply provide poke for the whole team. take lux
as support and taht means your carry on bot has a sheild for
scary/did-it-stupid situations, has ranged poke of a billion
miles, and provides the team with an effective AP AoE damage
with a snare. Just remember, you need to be careful with your
buys as support or you wont have gold to get whats needed. Some
(*Ahem* blitzthresh) may not have alot of one or more of the
above attributes, but they make up for it with making the
enemies day worse.
All in all, a good support should be an invaluable asset to the
meta team. meaning that shutting down the support is actually
a hindrance to a well meta'd team.
The alternative to a support/ADC bot is KILL ALL THE THINGS
LANE. Get you a couple fighters that have gap close and/or hard
CC and then proceed with the forced submission of bot. This is
countered by skill and/or alistar. Raging cow. rage him. in
the rage.
