High level players and Tier IV
By: EdTostanoski Date: May 15, 2016, 7:02 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Well, our attempt to play two tiers of raids for both the top
and bottom half of our guild is a work in progress.
I attempted to use chat to highlight the four high level players
trying to win the Tier IV raid.
If any respond by stopping and understanding our reasoning,
there should be no consequences.
Otherwise, we're left with two options. We can only run Tier V
for now, and let the bottom half of our guild flounder, or after
enough warnings, Nate concludes the offending high level players
are not team players, and they go. Those who remain make our
whole guild stronger.
Note nobody is asking our high level players not to participate
in the Tier IV raids. You need to participate to get some
return on the guild coins you generate and we, as a guild, spend
on these raids. But that participation should be minimal,
allowing our lowest level members a chance to shine and crush
the raid. Otherwise, what is the point of our lower half being
contributing members? They don't have the resources to rank
highly in Tier V. In the last Tier V raid, the highest level 74
or less player ranked 21st.
That's the logic. Please let us know if it doesn't make sense.

I agree, and I know I'm on that borderline of scoring to high,
but I swear i didnt mean too :-\
I guess we can cross the "kicking members" bridge when we get to
it, but we'll jut see if they tone it down next time. I'd even
be willing to skip this tierV and do another tierIV just to see.

Vader85, I'll never ask anyone not to participate, because you
get no rewards for not trying, and we all work to earn these
raids. I'm trying now to set a 250,000 cap for all level 75+
players this Tier IV raid. If this works, great. If it's too
high or low, we can tweak it.
Eventually, our median will rise, as will the damage cap on the
low tier. I look forward to, and am working my toons towards,
our first Tier VI.
We're playing for the long game. One blip doesn't matter.
Repeated behavior is what we want to curb.
You are a great guild mate. I look forward to a long
partnership.
Skirata.

agreed, and honestly to me, being active on these forums is one
of the best qualities to a guild mate for me

So, in case my idea isn't clear, if your a high level playing
Tier IV, try to limit yourself to no more than 250,000 per Raid,
not per night.
That gives us some fun playing around with lower level, unusual
combinations, but leaves the bulk of the scoring and damage for
the rest of our guild.
When we play Tier V, all bets are off.

This has been updated, as we get more experienced. The limit is
now 350,000 damage for the raid, and only level 77 and higher
players are capped.
For the most part (Jen, Mol Eliza being the exception) this is
working well.

Looking at all the gear need to keep leveling up my teams, and
the difficulties of Tier 6, I'm torn between two options.
Keep doing the tier 4/5 rotation and slowly earn the gear
through rewards and slowly earning the guild money to buy more
gear......
Or...
Do tier 4/4 rotation, one for the lower level members, then one
for us all...we should knock them out crazy fast and earn more
currency to buy the materials we each need.
Thoughts?

4/4 might be ok once, after this 6 just because we'll have a
guild stockpile, but normal 4/5 are timed perfect with us
gaining the guild coins for the next, 4/4 will be us doing one
then sitting around for a couple days before starting the next
