says to ALL: She who had once been Ydril ze Omun had emerged,
eventually, from the tent of the House of Lycus, to stand, in
want morning light, collared, branded with the mark of the
north, clad in naught but a tunic of white silk, that which she
had been given by Marcus Lycus the night before he and his party
had left the post of Lycus on Freeport for the Fair, she
included in that party of course.
The streets and alleyways of the Fair were known to her, of
course they were, but this day they felt utterly alien,
unfamiliar as she navigated a path along the main thoroughfare,
looking on everything with different eyes now, for she no longer
trod the path as who she had been, instead walked it as who she
was, felt dirt and small stones under the soles of bare feet,
felt the morning breeze caress thighs and arms as she walked,
her head help upwards, for after all, had she not resolved in
the House of Lycus that she would not show weakness in these
coming days, only strength?
That, at least was her intent, her resolve perhaps now about to
be put to the test as she was no longer within relative
sanctuary of the House of Lycus, now faced this World called
Gor.

says to ALL: -The time had come. Two entire years had passed
since that day in the vart caves. Stabbed. Left for dead. The
rich Isle of Tyros. A tropical paradise to some, mostly the
wealthiest of Merchants. To me, it had been hell itself.
Scraping out a living on the docks. Spying. Performing weird
errands. Looking the other way and never asking questions... or
at least making sure to ask the right ones. All to not have to
pay with my body or my neck. Hell. But I'd clawed my way Free,
gotten an apprenticeship. Earned my Caste robes, ones of white
and gold. The Merchant's Caste. But I was admittedly adjacent. A
Bounty Creditor that shared their colors, their escort, their
wares. My booth was of fine goods from all over the world. I
worked with men that had ships that ran Thassa and the Vosk. A
modest empire. It wouldn't do to get TOO well known after all.
It allowed me to have exotic animals and foods of the Tahari.
Furs from the plains, gathered by riders with the Tuchuk brand.
Fine leather goods. Yes, my booth was diverse and always did
well at other markets. How would I do here? It was my first time
being so bold as to attend the Fair. But it was time to tighten
the noose. The scent had been found. The hint that remained upon
fabric long since forgotten brought to life in the presence of
an actual trail. Nothing followed a trail better than a mountain
sleen after all. She was here. Somewhere. -
-Id arrived with so many via the Pilgrim Road. Set up shop and
laid out my wares. Had a few fellow merchants to handle the
actual sales. Merchants loyal to the good wages they were paid,
much like the escorting guards. That wasn't the only tether
though. It helped to have knowledge. Yes, those of my Caste
wielded blackmail as easily as a warrior might brandish a sword.
One day it would catch up with me, but so far that day had not
come. I wouldn't let it. Not before I took everything from her.-
I left the stall behind and meandered into the Fair's avenues,
seeing the various sights. For now, I was just a random fairgoer
like any other. But it was a hunt, and I could feel my prey
here. But... I'd been certain before. Careful to not get too
cocky. It always ended poorly, usually in the bottom of a bottle
of wine. Hopefully optimistic. Yes. that was the goal. Icy eyes
were watchful above the line of my veils as I walked.-

says to ALL: Even at this ahn the street was busy, people moving
about. Free men and women. Slaves. Like the blonde. She looked
about, at the stalls that she passed, the array of wares on
display, the delicious food being cooked on open fires,
flavoured with spices from all over Gor. But she had no coin
purse of her own any more, could not purchase a tasty skewer of
bosk meat or fresh baked bread that had come from the ovens only
ehn ago, these things were no longer within her gift to have,
for she could have nothing, was herself the one that was had,
owned, by Marcus Lycus.
Enough days had passed that her thoughts were no longer consumed
by the events of that night, the wager entered into, one that
she had come within a heartbeat of winning, for had the fickle
finger of fate pointed in a different direction then nothing
would have changed, Ydril ze Omun would still have walked this
street. But fate had chosen to act in a different direction and
so she did not, for she no longer existed, in her place a slave
named Yana.
Whether this meant that she was still in danger or not she knew
not, for Ydril had been instructed to return to Asperiche, there
to face her Mother's displeasure, that displeasure manifesting
itself in choice of dagger or collar. End her life at her own
hand. Or kneel and live. Ultimately she had chosen neither, had
ignored summons to her Mother's home, had made a different
choice. The wager had been placed. Had her gamble paid off she
would have had an ally, security,
But she had lost.

says to YanaProperty of the Hous: -Not that I knew this yet, but
your loss... would be my gain, or so I hoped it went. Fortune
usually did favor me in the long game I played. I turned a
corner of sorts as I looked at a stall with some nice gems. I
didn't buy any, but I DID almost run into you.- "Watch where
you're walking, slave!" -I barked imperiously. At first, eyes
did not recognize. I saw merely a slave that I had run into, but
in the true entitled fashion of a Free Woman, I placed the blame
upon her. Such was the way of the world after all. I attempted
to knock you out of my way with a quiet scoff from beneath my
veils, pressing to get around or past you in the already
deepening crowd.-
I almost missed your face. Almost. Then recognition flared. I'd
found you! At long long last. My optimism and sheer stubbornness
paid off. Now the years of plotting could begin. I bent down
some, a gloved hand reaching towards your collar, that arrogance
evident in every motion. That way of behavior that belonged to
Free women, and not base creatures like yourself. If I got ahold
of your collar, I'd read it.-

-- is upon the long central dirt avenue between tents, booths,

says to x.x Secrets & Gold x.x .: How many times had she
attended the Fair? Six? Seven? One or the other. In the past she
had been about the business of House ze Omun. She presumed that
some of those that she had had dealings with then would be
present know, the Potter who had sold the vases with hidden
messages scratched into the clay before they were fired, the
butcher who was more than a butcher...but she would clearly not
seek any of them out, no, it was better for her if her presence
here was not known to those of house ze Omun, hence why Marcus
Lycus had instructs her to wear the tunic of white silk, that
the scar on her belly be hidden, the one put there by the other
she urt's blade in that cave in Tyros, where two had entered but
only one emerged....the one who had claimed that which Ydril had
gambled away, some might say foolishly...and perhaps be
correct....
Thought was still in mind as she stepped around a corner, one
formed by stalls, suddenly found another in her way, a collison
then averted, but only just...she who the slave had almost
collided with then unleashing volley of words laced with
venomous scorn.
For a heartbeat the slave remembered another moment, in another
place, when she had been the one who had collided with a slave,
had clearly been in the wrong and yet had heaped blame upon
unfortunate slave, that slave having ultimately been seated a
whipping for her perceived clumsiness...
And now the blonde was the one who stood s clumsy slave.
"Yes, Mistress, apologies Mistress." Words tumbled from lips
then, eyes swiftly averting thsmeleves in downward direction as
the slave Yana took a step to one side so that you might pass,
she unfortunately pressing to get past her taking step at same
time so that we remained facing each other, her vivid blue eyes
remaining lowered, she knowing better than to challenge you with
direct gaze as she felt your fingers close around the steel
collar that would pronounce to any that read it that this slave
was the property of the House of Lycus...

says to YanaProperty of the Hous: -Kings was I glad for my veils
in that moment. A collar. House of Lycus. Where was that? I'd
find out, and certainly not from you. My lips curled into an
invisible triumphant sneer. I was careful to keep it from
reaching my eyes, which only showed venom to this clumsy slave
that had dared to walk into me. I made great show of pushing you
away by your collar and checking my robes, as if that mere brush
had soiled them.- "An apology should be from obeisance slave..
to show true humility and a desire for forgiveness. Over there."
-I pointed to a patch of grass between two stalls, a place where
there was at least little foot traffic. You'd not get trampled.
That wouldn't do.. it was much too merciful and would put me in
debt to whoever this Lycus was. I moved toward that bit of grass
and folded my arms, clearly awaiting you to obey this command,
while beneath my veils and inwardly I absolutely DELIGHTED in
this. Oh.. "Mother" was going learn about it all.. but not yet.
No.. this was a game of kaissa, and one you likely weren't even
aware you were playing, nor what it's stakes were. Of course you
had no way to know who would be sent after you. Bounty hunters
for sure, but I had higher stakes than mere coin. I would have
your position, your prestige. All of it. At long last I would be
the daughter.. and I'd see to it that you stayed in chains until
your bitter end.-

says to x.x Secrets & Gold x.x .: The slave found herself pushed
backwards then, stumbling slightly, the grip on her collar
fierce, she still keeping her eyes lowered, knowing that raising
them to meet your gaze was only likely to make situation worse
as finger stabbed in direction of patch of grass that lay
between stalls.
"Yes, Mistress." Yana tried to keep her voice calm, to avoid any
sign of anger or confrontation, for she was well aware of her
reality now, knew that as a slave she was subject to the moods
and whims of any Free person of Gor, could be taken to task for
any reason, or indeed for no reason whatsoever other than it
pleased the Master or the Mistress. Gor, after all, was harsh,
was not fair.
And so bare feet carried the slave clad in naught but tunic of
white silk, tunic that concealed the scar left there by the
blade wielded by another, on far away Tyros, one who had worn a
yellow sash around her waist, one who she who had worn the red
sash had left to the varts as she had stumbled out of the cave
trying to hold in her innards....that slave now moved to the
prince of grass, raised eyes for the first time to see you loom
over her, your arms folded, as she slowly lowered herself down,
on to her knees on the grass, those knees tensing close together
as she lowered herself down head to the dirt, backside covered
in white silk rising up and arms slid forward, palms down, the
slave now grovelling before you "Please Mistress, Yana begs
forgiveness for her clumsiness Mistress, please, forgive a
clumsy slave." It was perhaps as well for the blonde that this
position meant that you could not see the fire in her eyes, only
hear what she hoped was contrition in her voice as she knelt
before you with her head to the dirt.

says to YanaProperty of the Hous: -That grin grew wider beneath
my veils at this whole situation. Oh the fates were cruel.. or
perhaps just. Maybe.. both? I had to wonder as to how this fate
had befallen you. I studied your placement, your garb,
committing detail of how you now looked to memory. Better still,
I moved close, bringing my slippered foot to the back of your
collar, so my robes grazed your face and shoulder some. I had a
fresh scent for my sleen to track. Yes. One way or another I'd
find you. Let you think you were safe as you had done to me all
that time ago. We'd worked together at times, and then once
pitted against one another it had all turned to avarice and
mayhem. How the times could change. But none of this joy would
be evident in my body language. No.. I was schooled in hiding
such things, a trick of my trade as it were. I stepped back and
nodded sharply-
"Quite right then. You will be forgiven this time slave, but
should it happen again, I shall be speaking to the owner of this
House of Lycus. Now begone with you and don't walk into anyone
else you clumsy girl! Shoo! -I waved my hand at you as I turned
away to head back to my tent, whereupon I could gloat freely. I
had found you. I would end you.-

dirt....she who had until a matter of days ago been Ydril ze
Omun, Daughter of House ze Omun - estranged Daughter, but
Daughter nonetheless - now knelt, grovelled, her nails digging
into her palms as she felt slight pressure on the collar around
her throat, soft fabrics such as she herself had worn but a hand
ago brushing across her face and shoulder where it peeked from
the sleeveless tunic as she heard you speak again, knowing that
your voice would indicate whether matter was deemed closed or
further pierced sound were yet to come.
The matter was closed. Or at least so it appeared. Yana exhaled,
not realising that she had been holding her breath, "Yes,
Mistress. Thank you Mistress." The words breathed, the others
heartfelt as foot lifted from back of neck and hand gesture
dismissed her, she rising quickly, moving away, in opposite
direction. Before you changed your mind.
