Ruger SR 22

This was truly one of those I went in for some ammo....
I had been looking to grab a semi auto 22 pistol. I am joining
an indoor range/club just blocks from my house, and my only
other pistol was a 9MM Shield, and as inexpensive as 9mm is, 22
is just soooo cheap and I want to shoot as much as possible. I
was planning on ordering a MP Compact 22 from Grab a Gun. Ran
into Field and Stream to check out thier selection of ammo and
saw the Ruger in with the used handguns.
They had it for $230 with everything it would have came with
new, 2 mags, the extended magazine grips, both size grips and
the soft case. I couldn't pass it up.
Haven't shot it yet, my new member orientation for the range
isn't until the 21st. I can't wait though, seems like a great
gun.

So, when you join an indoor range, you have to set up a special
time to have somebody watch you shoot the 1st time? Can you just
walk in off the street & rent some time & start shooting?

I don't know about where Brother Brian is but around here the
indoor range is open to the public the only thing that you can't
do without being checked out by a range officer first is drawing
and firing. The outdoor ranges are all clubs and require a
orientation and a demonstration of safe gun handling in front of
a range officer the first time.

This is the only range I've been to, and never as a member. They
used to have public hours on Thursday nights. You came in signed
a form and paid $10 and could shoot. The hours were from 7-10.
(Pm). They have 6 lanes that go as far as 50 feet. They have the
targets that are on a pulley system that you can move back and
forth. Rules are minimum of 10 feet, pistol or pistol caliber
rifles (of course 22s ) only. You can only draw and shoot from
lane 1. Pretty much the only rules.
They did away with the public hours, allegedly for insurance
reasons.
I'm paying$75 for the first year. I get back key card and I can
go in and shoot any time I want 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm
unless something is going on. It's a family membership. You do
have to pay $3 each visit, but I can live with that. They keep
it heated in the winter and they supply targets. And it's
literally only 5 minutes from my house.
They do run a background check and you have to get a approved by
the board. I've been there a few times, and one of the guys who
is on the board was working at Field and Stream when I bought
the Ruger. He was also there at the club when I dropped off my
application.
Orientation is on the 21st , I can't wait. First practical
pistol shoot is on October 9 so I need to get some trigger time
with the Ruger

I got the Ruger SR22 Lilac Lady for my fiancé last Christmas..
She loves it. The only thing is one of the mags (the one I let
the spring get away from me when I was changing the grip
extension) will not feed the last round from the mag. Other than
that it's a great piece.

It's right in town. It's the only club/range within the city
limits. And it's only 5 minutes from my house. ;D

Range Specifications
45 ft. indoor range
Six (6) partitioned shooting stalls
Electric target retrieval system for each lane
Armored plated backstop
Permitted: Rim and center fire pistol and rifle cartridges not
developing velocities over 1,500 fps.
Prohibited: Shotguns or shotgun type ammunition. Armor piercing,
tracer or incendiary ammunition.
It was $75 to join for a family membership, including $10 for
the bad guy background check, renewal will be $60. $3 for each
member to go shoot. Other memberships are available, like a
Gold Key membership which is $150 and allows the one keyholder
to shoot for free, and a family gold key for $250. I'll probably
upgrade to teh Gold when I renew because I have been going about
once a week and that $3 adds up.
Members are issued an electronic key card and has access to the
club seven days a week between the hours of 8:00am – 10:00pm.
Membership runs one full year from the date of joining. Range
fees are: $3.00 for members and $6.00 for non-members/guests
which is valid for the entire day. Members may bring in as many
guests as they like and as many times, we don't mandate
membership after so many visits.
They also do classes, such as NRA pistol and rifle classes and
hunter education classes. They do special shoots like practical
pistol and turkey shoots.
They also have work days and you can earn free passes and
memberships by volunteering for a certain number of hours.
