Trip to the gun counter yesterday
   DIR By: Brother Brian

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Interesting conversations at the gun counter yesterday
So, I have been in the market for a 9mm with a 4 in barrel. Have
a few on my list I am considering and wanted to actually handle
them. Not quite ready to buy yet but wanted to physically see
them. So, I went to Field and Stream. (Won't shop there). It was
near some retail stores my wife wanted to go to. And, I won't
feel bad looking there but buying elsewhere.
So, deal with first guy. Told him what I was looking for. Also
said I was considering 40 instead of 9. He said 40 is dying and
you won't be able to find it one day. He showed me a couple of
9s and then he had to go to lunch so I talked to another worker.
Next guy actually is a board member at my gun club. He also
stated he believes 40 will be pretty much gone in maybe 10
years. His thought was because law enforcement is abandoning it
and going back to 9. Maybe he's right, maybe not, time will
       tell.
While dealing with the second guy, I also spotted a Springfield
(not sure which model) 45 brand new, on clearance for $400. He
said once they sell the last of Springfield's in stock, they're
done. They won't be carrying them anymore. This surprised me.
Although they don't have the following of Glock, S&W or even
Ruger, I have heard a lot of good things about them.
Finally, I MAY be finally converted to a Glock 😮
They didn't have any G45s which is the one I am REALLY
interested in, but they did have a 19X. I have to say, I really
liked it. Size was perfect and the trigger was nice.
I also checked out the M&P Compact 2.0. I really liked it, it's
a lot cheaper, but I just wish the grip was a tad longer. I can
get my pinky on it, but barely. I really want just another inch
or so. Still researching, trying to find an extender or
possibly a grip sleeve that allows you to run a 17 round mag.
Looked at the S&W SD9VE. Almost was my first pistol, but ended
up with a C9 instead. I still really like them and they are
high on my list. I love the size and the price. I have
researched them for years. I know they are known to not have
great triggers, but I also know about the Apex trigger/trigger
spring upgrade. I know there isn't a ton of aftermarket
support, but I am not into really accessorizing/upgrading
anyways. Only things I might consider is the trigger and sights,
and I have found sights. Honestly, biggest downside for me is
the two tone. I really prefer all black. I am looking at the
grey/black instead of the black and stainless.
Finally, I also checked out the new Ruger Security 9. It's also
high on my list. I know about the recall issue. But I love the
size, the looks and I like Rugers. Love their customer service.
But I heard they don't have a warranty? And the guy at Field and
Stream said the finish on newer Rugers aren't good. Showed me a
few in their display case that already shows signs of wearing.
So, right now I am really torn between the G45, the SD9VE and
       the M&P 2.0 Compact.
The Glock would probably require me to sell my JCP to help cover
the extra costs of the other 2. I really like both of the
Smiths, but they each have their drawbacks as mentioned.
       So, thoughts on anything mentioned?????

You were up early today? LoL
So many choices when looking for gun! I usually let my
pocketbook do my talking, unless it is something I have been
"Mooning" over for some time like a Vepr 54?

I get up a little after 6, leave for work at 7:30 ;D
I typically do let my checkbook decide, but I really want to get
something a little...nicer than what I typically get

       telling myself? lol
We all deserve a nice gun, every now and again!

I joined a S&W MP group on Facebook.
With some input and research, I think I am going to got with an
MP 2.0 "full size" with the 4.25 barrel.
Basically it the Glock 19x or G45. Proportions are basically
identical, and it's about $150 cheaper than the G45
Will definitely be the nicest gun I have ever owned

At least your not moving over to the "glock" side!
Did you get the new gun yet?

Not yet. Was hoping to at tax time, but just looked over our
credit card debt yesterday. Thinking we're going to pretty much
wipe out our return to pay off some of that. Maybe that will
free up some monthly cash I can save for one?
Really leaning towards the M&P 2.0 full size with 4.25 barrel in
9mm. Essentially the same as a G19x or G45 for about $150 less.
I have checking out pretty much everything I can in the $300-
$400 price range and keep going back to that.
There is a prt of me that wants to go with 40 just
because....but I know the 9mm will shoot a little softer and in
a self defense situation that could be huge.
If NEED be, I may end up selling my JCP to help offset the cost,
but I REALLY don't want to

I picked up that Kahr PM-40, (the lightest 40 s&w on the market
@ 14.7 oz) for Christmas this year. I had read several articles
about the different calibers penetrating peoples winter outer
coats. And the only 40 calibers I owned were all Hi Points. Very
nice gun, but is very hard to chamber & I haven't shot it yet. I
need to get out back soon? lol I also picked up the Ruger EC9s.
Now this is a sweet CC gun. I have only stood in the driveway &
fired off a couple of mags, but I really like this.
I had to sell a gun before Christmas, and I really miss it too.
It was my Christmas present my Wife bought me in 2017. It was an
AR-9mm. I bought my self the GSG MP-40 9mm to replace it, but I
still feel the need for the AR-9? But anyways, I used the $$$ to
buy her a set of NEW glasses & she really needed them. I had
that my gun collection could & would help us out if we really
need the cash, and it did that!
These are the guns I bought for Christmas this year. Did I tell
you that my insurance check came in? lol
       1) HTA Bullpup 4595
       2) GSG MP-40 9mm
       3) Ruger EC9S
       4) Kahr PM-40

I remember that AR 9. You seemed to really like that, but I
totally get selling it to do something for your wife
I still really want to get a carbine or AR, but I have a few
       other firearms I want first.
Still want a fullsize 9. Then probably a bolt action rifle or
shotgun for hunting. Then will either be a pocket 380 or the AR
       or carbine
