What's going to be different this time?

What are your thoughts on starting over? Or what do you think
       will be different this time?
It can help to start looking at it all from a different
perspective. It can help to keep in mind that there is always a
good reason for turning to food. When you started turning to
food, it may have been a way of handling difficult situations or
people. You did what you could. By eating you did what you knew
best. Eating can represent an attempt to deal with difficult
situations and feelings, whether its boredom or stress. There is
a function and a purpose to overeating. So if you find yourself
reaching for food, and you're not really hungry, can you ask
yourself, "what's bothering me?" "what's going on what I want to
eat?" Can you bring understanding to yourself, rather than
criticising yourself or smothering these feelings with food?
This is your opportunity to start reclaiming your life and
taking your personal power back, which we too often hand over to
       food.

From looking at the online program, what has stood out to me is
that I need to be more of a friend to myself. I'm awful for
giving out to myself over little thing. I'd never talk to anyone
else like |II talk to myself. That's one things that I need to
change. I think even that will really help me along! (I'm
hoping!!) More of the pausing too!

It may be cliché, but the first step is awareness, recognizing
that you do eat emotionally—and WHY. Each time I reach for foods
(or even feel a craving come on), I'm asking myself, "Am I
really hungry or am I just responding to something else that is
       happening?"

Do you feel overwhelmed by the challenges ahead ? The secret is
to start with the tiniest step, then take another and then
slowly, steadily add to it. One day at a time. It's normal to
have slip-ups. Forgive yourself and draw a line under it.

Another thing I realised is that I want to set a better example
for my kids. I don't want them to pick up on my habits!

I think this time is definitely already different! No more
giving out to myself, and instead being more aware. I am taking
the course at my own pace and one of the main changes is to
'pause' before I eat and doing just that is helping a lot. I
have also noticed that since I signed up to Heyday I am meeting
people who are talking about healthy eating and I have acquired
       several new recipes!
