League Quality
By: ATLien Phin Date: July 20, 2019, 6:23 am

How should we handle it if an owner in our league selects a
player that once was a quality player but this year probably
should not even be drafted. For example when a player who's
retired has been drafted.
The better the picks, the better the teams, the better the
competition and the better the league.
Obviously bad picks have a bad impact.
Should owners be told about a bad pick or screw 'em and let them
pay for their lack of preparation? Thoughts?
PS - Not talking about situations where a pick we've made is
subsequently injured and put on IR. That's completely different.
That's bad luck not bad preparation.

Decisions have consequences. I think it's fine to let someone
know that (for instance) their selection has been previously
picked or the player retired but once their clock has expired,
it's on them...

We're moving so quickly are we even observing a 'clock'?
I have a confession. I told Darkside in a DM Tyrek Hill (WR) KCC
had an ADP of 128 and probably should not be picked at 19. That
Hill had some legal issues and definitely should not be picked
in Rnd 2. Probably shouldn't be picked at all.
He didn't act on it. I am not sure if he even read it, but Jax
has picked so I guess that would qualify as an expired clock?
I am guessing it could turn out to be a brilliant move for
Darkside but could still have been had less expensively.
Sorry, guys.

The NFL announced last night that Hill would not be suspended.
His ADP was low because folks didn't know what his status was
going to be. Now that everyone knows he'll play the entire
season, his ADP should rise significantly. That being the case,
selecting him in the 2nd round was probably about where he'll be
selected in most leagues. It wasn't much (if any) of a reach for
Darkside and he probably knew of the status change before he
made the pick. I personally don't have any problem with you
letting him know what you thought and you don't have anything to
apologize for IMO. This is a gentleman's league so "recommend
away" as you see fit. Lastly, I agree that once the next player
has been picked, it's too late for an owner to go back in time
and re-pick a different player. I equate it to an expired clock.

Wow, i hadn't heard about the decision on Hill. Is KCC gonna let
him play? They could still take action, right? That's no bueno
imo. I don't know the details, but I feel like he should have
had some punishment. No suspension suggest there were
considerations that allowed the NFL to justify not punishing
him. At least I would hope that's the case. I hope Hill takes
advantage of this opportunity.
Anyway, felt torn between helping darkside [or anyone really]
and not acting on my own in a way that may adversely affect
everyone. In the end it looks worked out I guess.

KC is supporting Hill and the league's decision so, yes, they're
going to let him play. I don't know the "child abuse" details be
the press is saying there was no real substance to it.

When it was announced Hill would play he went from WR 22 to WR
11. So, he's taking a shot on his upside which is high. KC local
press is speculating they will trade him, but not likely this
year.
As far as letting owners know they have picked a player already
selected we have traditionally always alerted the owner asap
(via post) and we should continue to do so IMO.
Side note:Thanks to ATL for putting up the tracker threads they
should help with the above issue. :)
