When I almost went undefeated I had a long discussion with River
about luck in this game.
A lot of my wins that year were lucky. On the other hand, just
last year, I lost a game where Drew Brees was scheduled to break
a record. He'd been avg'ing 30/game up to that pt. That week he
scored 8pts. A game he lost. A game he would have had to throw
to try and comeback. The following week he was on Monday Night
Football and broke the record!
Is that luck?? Is that bad luck? Personally I think that BS was
staged. When have you League and Networks conspiring for crap
like that. Sure,... they won't admit it.... but come on man
that's kinda blatant.
In a 12 team league we all can get 2 starting RBs with room to
spare. I think its safe that bottom half of those RBs can get
8-12pts a game per week. I think the same can be said for WRs
earning about 5-9pts / game.
We can even get lucky and get someone on the waiver wire to do
twice that.
The real challenge is getting DST, K and TE that score
12pts/game/week. Look at Darkside's team last year [he won the
league @ 9-4] -versus- Manhatten.420 [went 11-2]
M420, had a Tier1 PK but garbage at Defense and TE and was
knocked out of the playoffs in the 1st round. Darkside at top 5
DST, PK and TE.
By the way, I was also knocked out of the playoffs in the 1st
round along with M420 after I lost my 1st & 2nd Round draft pics
[both RBs] in the first 4 games of the season.

Luck, circumstance, whatever you want to call it is out of our
control. Effective drafting is not. You can set up your roster
to give yourself the best chance of success but luck (good or
bad) is an important part of winning championships. I had the
lucky year I mentioned earlier and conversely, I had a year
where my first rounder was suspended for 6 games (after I
drafted him). I personally don't think drafting a K or DST
before the last two rounds is wise but that's just a difference
in our strategies. Who knows. It may pan out for you again but
I'm not holding my breath.

Look, Effective drafting lost me a #1 [Fournette] and #2 [Ajay]
draft pick in the first 4 or 5 games of last season. Lost #2
[Olsen] the year before that. I lost #1 draft picks two other
seasons. All injuries.
So, my interpretation of the best chance for success is
investing in a Defense and for the most part a PK that will not
be a victim to injury. You'll [I'll] want a Top 3 in both those
positions. Securing those two positions such that they can
consistently get 10+ pts a week is low hanging fruit. If you can
get a TE to do the same and a QB with 30pts/week. That's about
60/week. You need about 110 to win weekly. To get there you will
need to have 5 other players average 10pts or more per week. And
if 2 of those are first or second rounders and if you're lucky
on the waiver wire...that's extremely doable considering the
conservative numbers I mentioned before.
This has panned out for me before, but I understand if other
don't agree with it. They probably didn't have the experiences
I've had.

Well I had my first pick LeVeon Bell hold out last year and
Melvin Gordon my number one pick same story this year. So put an
asterisk beside my team every year, I'd be champ if not for
injuries and hold outs.

I really encourage all of you to look at the 'Reaches'
spreadsheet that I posted in another thread. It's has updated
rankings based on FantasyPros.com which, after some research,
revealed they had a list of over 500 players compiled from 100
drafts to formulate their ADP draft cheat sheet. Which is
updated multiple times a week.
Greg Z [PK] is at #12 of this drafts biggest reaches. Just
barely considered a reach at 14 spots sooner than experts would
have pick him!!!
Marinomania has three in the Top 10, two in the top 4 and the #1
spot also.

This late in the draft Zuerlein yielded more fantasy points than
the next kicker (11) vs the difference with the remaining RB's
or WRs. I'm not sure about Stills, may be a reach with the
Dolphins having one of the top 7 hardest schedules according to
the same site, Fantasy Pros per their site:
"If you're looking for a receiver to finish much higher than his
draft position, Stills practically always does this. Did you
know he was a top-30 wide receiver in both 2016 and 2017, then
the No. 52 receiver in 2018? It's a new coaching staff and
that'll shake things up, but the upgrade at quarterback is
appealing. He may not be a sexy pick, but he's continually
undervalued."
