       On the Road to Riften.
By: Overlordnim Date: July 16, 2013, 9:05 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
It would be a few days later, since that faithful night in
Falkreath hold. It was mid day now, the snow fall had yet to
stop since she left, and she was now just leaving Whiterun,
entering the hold's lands, she was packed down with a new
backpack of supplies, her long pelt of fur still hanging on her
shoulders, and she still dawned that heavy steel, it was getting
old now, and no doubt at the end of her journey toward The Rift,
she'd have to make a special stop to replace and upgrade, but
       for now, it was enough.
She stepped onto the bridge after the hold's meadery, she didn't
bother to stop when she saw a broken down wagon on the side of
the road, nor did she stop as she saw a few now homeless farmers
pass her on their way to Whiterun. She was busy reading over a
letter in her hand, her other hand holding tightly onto her
pack's leather strap, the letter was an interesting thing sent
to her, the title was like that of a wanted poster, only the it
was far from it. It read out 'The Dawnguard. Dear Zaxus
Coldriver, we have taken an interest in you, and hope you will
consider making your way to the Rift, to aid us in the war on
       the vampire attacks.'
She huffed, folding the letter and stuffing it in a pouch on her
side, the young nord looked up to peer at the road ahead, seeing
a few Stormcloak solders pass by, she gave them a nod, and kept
walking. She had noticed a pick up in vampiric activity, and
people talking about a group of 'vampire hunters' she really
just thought it was all a joke, until a few days ago, and after
some thought on the letter she had received, she was thinking
she'd pop by and take a look into it. After all, who would take
all their time to vampires at a time like this? A civil war was
afoot, daedric activity was on the rise, and Dragons were around
every turn! And people were worrying about vampires, a small
pest for many years now, almost like they were simply
skeevers... Now that she gave it some sort of thought though,
there were suddenly a lot more of them coming out of the wood
works, and they seemed more powerful, and they were abducting
people left and right, what was it all about, she wondered.
After a few long moments of walking down the cobblestone covered
road, the snow still beating hard on her person, and with her
seemingly spaced out from the outer world, as if absence.. She
finally came to a stop, and glanced up, something catching her
eye, a spark of what looked like fire, infact. It was a stray
fire ball, aimed right at her, she let her mouth gap open in
shock and surprise, before she suddenly leaped to the side, the
fire ball smashing into the ground with a small explosive force,
sending embers everywhere, a bit hitting onto her armor and
cape, though it was quickly put out by the blowing air and white
       rain.
The woman looked up, and growled ferally, the snow fall was
hard, hard enough she couldn't exactly see where the fire ball
came from. She pushed herself up, and grabbed onto her swords'
hilts, as she stared forward, her eyes flickering left and
right, trying to figure out where exactly the next attack, if
any, were going to come from. Suddenly another fire ball was
launched out infront of her, something she quickly side stepped,
and ran forward into the blast of snow once more, she ran out
infront of a Flame Atronach, she let out a hiss, knowing this
was not about to feel good, the creature let out a hiss of it's
own, and swung it's hand charged bolt forward at the woman at
       point blank range.
It wasn't as if the woman would take to much damage so long as
she wasn't hit anywhere uncovered, her armor had some fire
resistance applied, she took her broad shoulder and let it and
her cape of fur take the blast, the fur started to burn up, and
she ripped it from her shoulders, tossing it aside as she rushed
forward, and let her blades slice into the elemental with a
quick furry, she finally was able, after a few misses, and vain
strikes, to strike the creature in it's core, the Atronach, that
so much re symbolled a female form, fell to the ground, and
rolled to the side, the woman quickly backed away, and covered
her face with her armored arms, as the creature's body let off a
flamefilled explosion, the blast shooting off sparks, embers,
and streams of flames. The maiden peered out from her arms after
it was over, and stared at the now charred body, she always did
wonder why they exploded like that, but from personal
experience, she learned to stay away from them when they fell in
       battle.
She huffed, her already old armor now burned in places, and she
was out some warmth, as her cape of fur burnt up on the cobble
stone, she shrugged it off, she still had her supplies, and
weapons, and thats all that really mattered for the moment. She
sheathed her swords, and looked forward once more, making her
way up toward the Rift, it would be a bit warmer there, less
likely the snow will stay, but it was in the winters of Skyrim,
and it was going to be bitey, but it was alright, she was use to
the cold, and as she walked, her arms crossed from the cold on
the wind, she would start to hum a light tune on her breath, her
blue eyes peering out into the void of white.

It was now night, around the high hours of twelve, the snow fall
had finally came to an end, as the young woman made her way up
the Rift country side, she wasn't to far away from Lake Honrich,
still passing by the Treva River. She still had a bag left of
supplies, and after a few bad run ins with the country side
brown bears, and Spriggans, her armor had had it, pieces were
broken off and rusted to bits. And with an irritated sigh, she
brought a hand up to her face, brushing back her smooth ebony
       colored mane.
Up the road was a homestead, a little farm, two dark elf women
were working the outside fields, and guards men were keeping a
close eye out. The woman murmured something to herself, she was
a bit slumped over, and she had dark bags under her blue eyes,
she had a bit of a long journey, and how asking to bed in a hay
pile sounded so tempting, she pushed herself on.. All the while
thinking this little venture best be worth it in the end, she
was also thinking how it would be wonderful to buy a horse at
one point... And then the thought came to her.. Where was her
dog? She left her at home, but that didn't mean anything, the
thing loved to wander, and usually, it was not that far behind
       her..
She walked on a bit, reaching into her letter pouch, and pulling
out a few different pieces of parchment, reading them over. One
was a note about the Winterhold Collage, something she gave
thoughts to joining, or well trying to. Another was something
about a few bounties, a list of names and money for their heads,
down the list a bit, it did actually list her name, something
she scratched out it seemed however. And the last one in her
hand was a strange note, a parchment with a black hand print on
it, nothing else but in bold ink, 'we know' at the bottom. The
woman snorted, crumbling up the last one and tossing it off to
the side, the other two she folded up, after she had read the
other names on the bounty list first though, and stuffed them
back in her pouch. "Bah.." she grumbled, her eyes glancing
about, walking by a tree, she stopped dead in her tracks, and
tucked up beside it, the weight of wind fell upon the road and
lake, as one of those winged beasts came down from a mountain
side, it flew over the lake, and forest, it's wave finned head
tilting as it flew, eying the lands below, no doubt looking for
something to burn, though nothing seemed to catch it's
attention, as it flew off and down the uprise of the Rift.
The woman sighed in relief, and stepped out onto the road again,
adjusting her pack a bit, before continuing to walk. She wasn't
that far from Riften now, and would be more then happy to stop
       there for a night.
