Umbrakin [Translation : Shadow Kin]
By: Overlordnim Date: April 16, 2013, 3:16 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Umbrakin are the evolved cousins to Vampires. The vampire will
be the only race, to refer to these Shadow Folk, with the
correct name, it is a word from their old latin tongue. Umbra
meaning Shadow, or Shade, and Kin in this case meaning Brethren.
--
Little is known of the Umbrakin, due to their guile, and stealth
of blending in with the crowds of cities, and towns. It is
unknown how the Umbrakin came to be, many believe it was the
will of the Vampire Lord Crontisic, and their Lady Alvandria,
[their gods in a basic sense] willed the blue blooded vampire's
to be blessed with shadow child. The story going that the males
would give love to their females when their heat cycles arose,
but they would not show any signs of the carry afterwards,
thinking the males were to weak to impregnate their females any
longer, or to old perhaps, they prayed to their lord for an
answer, before finally, a fruit of labor was born into the
world, as the first Umbrakin. This is just story however.
It's known that Umbrakin have evolved past the point of needing
external or internal reproductive organs, it is a simple thing
when they find a being they think would be a strong choice to
have a child with, they do not even have to have much contact
with them, a mere pass by of their shadows touching, and the
'being' [as it can be male or female, sex does not matter.] will
be pregnant. Physically the being will not change, the only
things will be average things with gaining a child. Morning
sickness, more food intake for two, urges toward certain types
of food, normal cravings, and so forth. The child will create
something like a shadow womb within the mother/father, the being
will feel some of the weight with the child, and even grow tired
as with normal pregnancy, but their stomach will show no change.
After a time, when the baby is ready, within normal [im
guessing] carry cycles, the child will be born, from the shadow
of the being. The person in question feeling no pain, or any
side effects as to note, except perhaps the average tiredness
one would experience after child birth.
The child will be completely healthy according to what the
parent has done for it while it was connected to the being's
body, like normal.
Umbrakin depending on how far the generation has become, and
what the species parent is. Always have a second form usually,
the second form will usually be a shadow possibly looking more
like the species parent, not so much the Umbrakin, humanoids may
have a different out come, but when mated with a dragon, or
hound type creature, the Umbrakin shows more guided forms toward
the carry parent.
[more will be added on female Umbrakin later on]
----
Umbrakin are amazing combat artists, they move with an even flow
against their enemy, their speed almost unmatched by anything
living, and their abilities over shadows in combat, will bring
an enemy to their knees in moments. They make for the best out
of the best assassins, even better then their cousins. The
Umbrakin can be equally strong as well, depending on their
species make up.
The Shadow folk share a design flaw with their Vampiric cousins,
they have horrible reactions to sun light 99% of the time, and
cannot survive in areas without shadows for them to hide away
in, a zone like the white salt flats would be a nightmare for
either a Vampire or a Umbrakin, either no better then the other
when it comes to this aspect.
--
Vampires, especially young vampires, can learn all sorts of
things from an Umbrakin, and the other way around can be said
the same. Things like new abilities, spells, shapeshifts, etc,
can benefit both classes. And when both a skilled Umbrakin, and
Vampire come together, it can be a team to dread in combat, or
an enemy zone you would not wish to be between.
