Draft
By: Lord of Fail Date: November 18, 2012, 10:13 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
At the end of every season, a team can keep 3 players. (GM, AGM
and 1 player). All other players are put in the draft. The draft
is a snake draft.
For example, in a 10 team division, the draft order would be as
follows:
ROUND 1: 10TH - 9TH - 8TH - 7TH - 6TH - 5TH - 4TH - 3RD - 2ND -
1ST
ROUND 2: 1ST - 2ND - 3RD - 4TH - 5TH - 6TH - 7TH - 8TH - 9TH -
10TH
...
PROMOTED AND RELEGATED TEAMS:
PROMOTED TEAMS TAKE THE POSITION OF THE LAST PLACE TEAMS OF THE
HIGHER DIVISION (THEY GET FIRST PICK).
RELEGATED TEAMS TAKE THE POSITION OF THE FIRST PLACE TEAMS OF
THE LOWER DIVISION (THEY GET LAST PICK)
EXAMPLE OF A 10 TEAM DIVISION WITH 2 PROMOTED AND 2 RELEGATED
TEAMS:
ROUND 1:
PROMOTED TEAM 1 - PROMOTED TEAM 2 - 8TH - 7TH - 6TH - 5TH - 4TH
- 3RD - RELEGATED TEAM 1 - RELEGATED TEAM 2
NOTE THAT THE NUMBERS AFTER THE PROMOTED/RELEGATED TEAMS IS THE
RELEGATED/PROMOTED TEAM SPOT NUMBER (THE TEAM THAT GETS THIS
NUMBER CAN BE FOUND IN THE DIVISIONS SECTION)
ALL PLAYERS GO INTO THE DRAFT OF WHERE THEIR TEAM ENDED THEIR
SEASON AFTER BEING PROMOTED OR RELEGATED.
FREE AGENTS CANNOT CHOOSE WHAT DIVISION THEY GO INTO WHEN THEY
SIGN UP FOR FREE AGENCY. FREE AGENTS MUST BE SIGNED BY A TEAM
DURING THE SEASON OR THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY PUT INTO THE DRAFT
POOL OF THE LOWEST DIVISION.

>snake draft.
Shud be whichever team gets promoted gets 1st of every round,
2nd promoted gets 2nd of every round, last place without getting
relegated gets 3rd of every round, etc. This might be more
confusing but it's a lot more FAIR.

no. promoted teams DO get first draft IN THEIR NEW DIVISIONS
BECAUSE THEIR TEAMS ARE PROBABLY NOT AS GOOD.
also, relegated teams get LAST PICKS IN THEIR NEW DIVISIONS
because their teams ARE PROBABLY SLIGHTLY BETTER
THIS WAY IT IS MORE FAIR
THE DRAFT STYLE IS NOT CHANGING

ACTUALLY, NO. BECAUSE THEY GET FIRST OVERALL, THEIR NEXT PICK
IS NOW GOING TO BE 20TH OVERALL, GIVING THEM A HUUUUGE
DISADVANTAGE. THINK THINGS THROUGH LORD.

No, that is not a huge disadvantage AT ALL.
the difference in skill between 1st and 20th picks will not be
so great that a team who picks 10th and 11th will be better off.
As it is they would have to be a good team with some solid
chemistry to have been promoted, so if they get a MINOR
disadvantage, they should have the depth to overcome it.
OH, AND BTW THE ROSTER LIMIT IS 8, THERE THERE IS ONLY 5 DRAFT
ROUNDS, THEREFORE THE TEAM WITH 1ST OVERALL PICKS 1ST, 20TH,
21ST, 40TH, AND 41ST

actually, there is a big difference. It would be MUCH better to
get 7th overall and 13th overall (for example) then it is to get
1st overall and 20th overall. If your 2nd highest pick is 20th
overall, then your team will end up with 2 all-starts (1 kept
from last ssn and 1 drafted 1st overall) and then the rest of
their team will be shit. (Unless the GM and AGM are solid
players.)

Cole, a GM can change his AGM at the end of a season. Therefore,
he will have 3 really solid players (2 kept, 1st overall pick)
Also, the draft is 5 rounds only, therefore giving first overall
1st pick in rounds 1, 3, and 5 whereas 10th gets 1st pick in
rounds 2 and 4
Personally i'd rather have 1st overall.....

basically the draft is a snake draft, with no draft lottery or
anything like that.
The team that is last in each division gets first pick, second
to last gets second pick, etc
Last place in a division is the Cup winner of the lower division
(Promotion spot 1 of that division), while first place in the
division is last place from the higher division (Relegation spot
1).
If you still dont understand, watch how it willk be done for ssn
3.
Then all will be clear ;)
