Own Goals

"If the shot was on target, and a player touches it into his
own net, it is not considered an own goal, and the appropriate
stats should be recorded, that is, Goal and assist"
(this is a rule in soccer, it's a good rule)

It's only an own goal if the shot WASNT on target/going to score
and it is touched in by a player into his own net. Not the last
player that touched ball thing, which means if a goalie tried to
save it and deflects it but it would score anyway, it's not an
own goal

I 100% agree with this. I think if a shot is going in and the
ball just scrapes off of a defender before going in, assists
should still be recorded and it should not count as an OG. I
agree that it only should be an og if it wasn't going in and a
defended (on purpose or by accident) kicks it into his/her own
net.

I'm surprised that this isn't a rule. In fact why does it have
to be a rule anyways. Like common sense. The ref will decide if
it's an OG or not. :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

rule approved.
no changes will be made to past MRs but future MRs will respect
this rule.
the official (NOT the GM writing the MR as he would probably be
biased towards his team) will decide if it was an OG or not, and
if it was an OG, he will decide if there is to be an assist on
the play or not
this rule will be added to the rulebook in the offseason.
