Season 3 Week 2 Power Rankings - Commishball Edition
DIR By: Lord of Fail

DIVISION A
1. Detroit Recession (3 - 1 - 1 - 0) 12 PTS , 1st Division A
LAST WEEK: 3
GF: 9 [12] GA: 3 [6] GD: 6 [6] OFFENSE: C + DEFENSE:
A OVERALL: B +
The Detroit Recession have regained their offensive touch - and
just in time. They played the New York Haxball
Club, and beat them twice, by scores of 3 - 2
HTML http://hcd.createaforum.com/week-2-140/week-2-day-1-detroit-recession-3-2-nyhc/<br
/>and 1 - 2
HTML http://hcd.createaforum.com/week-2-140/week-2-day-2-nyhc-1-2-detroit-recession/,<br
/>which allowed them to get 6 valuable points in a week which
saw
the Detroit Recession win all their games. Those 2 wins allowed
them to not only close the 5 point gap on the ex-Division
leaders, but to leapfrog ahead of them. They currently are 3
points ahead of any other team, but the Orlando WillyNillys are
only 3 points behind, and they have a game in hand. This team
improved on every aspect of their game from Week 1, and now face
the difficult task of keeping their divisional lead. They face
the Orlando WillyNillys on Week 3 Day 3, and a win is crucial to
going into All-Star Break with the divisional lead. This team
has improved greatly from Season 2, now with a much more
structured defense while keeping their powerhouse offense.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Greatly Improved
Defense: Unchanged
Chemistry: Improved
2. Orlando WillyNillys (2 - 1 - 1 - 0) 9 PTS , 2nd Division A
LAST WEEK: 2
GF: 4 [6] GA: 0 [2] GD: 4 [4] OFFENSE: D + DEFENSE:
A + OVERALL: B
The Orlando WillyNillys have kept themselves in competition for
top spot in Division A by winning both of their Week 2 matches.
They trail 1st place by 3 points, but they do have a game in
hand on the Detroit Recession. This team has
begun to score, which is a good thing, but will need to score
more if they want to pass the Detroit Recession, who have great
offense and defense. If this team wants to win, they will have
to start to open up the game more and maybe make some risky
passes for some goals, or they will be trampled in Week 3. Their
Goal Difference is at +4, which is 2 lower then the Detroit
Recession, who are standing at +6. Unless the Orlando
WillyNillys can defeat the Detroit Recession on Week 3 Day 3,
they will most likely be in 2nd or 3rd for the All-Star break.
The only way this team can enter the break in 1st is if they
open up their style of play to generate more chances, as the
Detroit Recession and New York Haxball Club both have potent
offense fully capable of finding the back of the net.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Slightly Improved
Defense: Improved
Chemistry: Slightly Improved
3. New York Haxball Club (2 - 1 - 0 - 3) 8 PTS , 3rd Division A
LAST WEEK: 1
GF: 3 [11] GA: 8 [10] GD: -5 [1] OFFENSE: C -
DEFENSE: B + OVERALL: C +
In 1858, English novelist George Eliot stated "History tends to
repeat itself". The New York Haxball Club fell apart in Week 2,
losing all their games. They have fallen harder and faster than
the Season 2 Mexican Rattlesnakes, who completely
fell apart down the stretch. The New York Haxball Club just
couldn't seem to find a way to keep the ball out of their net -
or get it into the other net for that matter. They only showed
up to 2 of their games, forcing them to forfeit against the Swag
Weathermen, who were, at the time, in 5th in the Division. They
lost both of their key games last week to the Detroit Recession,
losing each game by 1 goal. The New York Haxball Club have
already played half of their Season 3 Games, but are 4 points
back of the Division lead. This team does have talent, they just
need to regain some of their chemistry as they cannot afford to
lose many more games if they want any chance of finishing 1st in
the Division.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Greatly Worsened
Defense: Greatly Worsened
Chemistry: Worsened
4. Swag Weathermen
HTML http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/blockade_2006/redcard_zps6d4fa84d.png<br
/>(1 - 0 - 2 - 2) 3 PTS , 4th Division A LAST WEEK: 5
GF: 3 [8] GA: 1 [9] GD: 2 [-1] OFFENSE: D + DEFENSE:
B OVERALL: C
The Swag Weathermen have turned things around after a
Disappointing first week in Season 3. They now have a structured
defense, and can work from there towards scoring goals. This
team managed to find some chemistry, and can only improve from
here as they look to make the playoffs. They have a tough week
ahead of them, first having a rematch with the
Orlando WillyNillys, then playing the New York
Haxball Club. They will be difficult games, they the Swag
Weathermen are capable of pulling off surprise upsets if they
get some offense going during Week 3.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Slightly Worsened
Defense: Greatly Improved
Chemistry: Greatly Improved
5. United Talent (0 - 1 - 0 - 3) 2 PTS , 5th Division A LAST
WEEK: 4
GF: 0 [5] GA: 7 [15] GD: -7 [-10] OFFENSE: D
DEFENSE: D - OVERALL: D -
After a decent first week, the United Talent looked to get some
points in their 2 Week 2 games. However, not everything went
according to plan. Not only did they fail to win, they failed to
score a single goal without filling their defensive hole. They
allowed 7 goals, which is fine if the team can score, but they
couldn't score. Granted, they played tough opponents, but that
is a poor excuse. General Manager Vipurness should be very
disappointed with his team's sub-par performance during Week 2.
The United Talent will look to fill their offensive hole with
recently called up power forward El Diablo, but that will only
help so much. This team could benefit from using their #1 waiver
spot on a top-tier GK who can backstop this team to victories
with solid forwards up front.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Greatly Worsened
Defense: Unchanged
Chemistry: Greatly Worsened
DIVISION B
1. Penguin Pride (5 - 0 - 0 - 0) 15 PTS , 1st Division B
LAST WEEK: 1
GF: 19 [26] GA: 3 [3] GD: 16 [23] OFFENSE: A +
DEFENSE: A + OVERALL: A +
Well, there isn't much to say here. The only undefeated team
remaining in the Haxball Club Divisionals got 3 Week 2 wins,
winning important games against the Night Hawks
and the Cuba Cyclones. They have a 7 point lead on Division B,
and look to clinch a playoff spot before the All-Star break.
This team is 6 points away from a playoff birth, but the real
challenge will only come in Week 6, when only one of the 4 teams
to make the playoffs will get promoted to Division A, and that
team is the team that will win the Division B Cup. After 2
weeks, the Penguin Pride are the favorites, but anything can
happen in the last 7 games of the Season. This team has a
relatively easy third week, but they must avoid overconfidence,
as that will lead to sloppy play and it can lead to finding
themselves being upset and handed their first loss of the
season.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Greatly Improved
Defense: Slightly Worsened
Chemistry: Greatly Improved
2. Cuba Cyclones (2 - 0 - 1 - 2) 8 PTS , 2nd Division B LAST
WEEK: 3
GF: 15 [19] GA: 8 [10] GD: 7 [9] OFFENSE: A +
DEFENSE: B OVERALL: A -
For the first time in the history of the Haxball Club
Divisionals, the Cuba Cyclones are an actual offensive threat -
even without El Diablo. They set a new record last week, netting
12 goals against the GTA Golden Eagles in a 12 -
4 rout which saw Lord of Fail find the back of the net 7 times.
The Cuba Cyclones need to improve defensively, but that will
come with time. The Cuba Cyclones have a big game against the
Night Hawks this week, as the winner will go into the All-Star
break in 2nd in the Division. If the Cuba Cyclones can improve
defensively, then they can be a real threat in Division B.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Greatly Improved
Defense: Greatly Worsened
Chemistry: Greatly Improved
3. Night Hawks (2 - 1 - 0 - 2) 8 PTS , 3rd Division B LAST
WEEK: 2
GF: 5 [13] GA: 5 [7] GD: 0 [6] OFFENSE: B - DEFENSE:
A - OVERALL: B +
The Night Hawks missed a golden opportunity to catch up to the
Penguin Pride. They currently sit 5 points behind
them for the Division lead and are tied for 2nd place but are
behind by goal differential. They face the Cuba Cyclones in the
battle for 2nd place heading into the All-Star break, but may
have a hard time dealing with their offense. This team needs to
start working their style of play if they want to see the wins.
This team needs some chemistry-building practice sessions if
they want to win in Week 3. Their style of play is not
necessarily bad, as it revolves around scoring goals and playing
with the lead, but they seem to collapse whenever the opposing
team takes the lead. This team needs to learn how to play while
losing without changing their style of play. Changing their
style of play as soon as they are losing does not always lead to
an equalizer goal, as was shown in Week 2, when they went behind
and changed how they played they only allowed more goals.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Unchanged
Defense: Worsened
Chemistry: Slightly Worsened
4. GTA Golden Eagles (1 - 0 - 0 - 3) 3 PTS , 5th Division B
LAST WEEK: 4
GF: 7 [7] GA: 12 [24] GD: -5 [-17] OFFENSE: C -
DEFENSE: F OVERALL: D +
This team needs better attendance. They won one game by forfeit,
but lost their other game 12 - 4
HTML http://hcd.createaforum.com/week-2-138/week-2-day-3-cuba-cyclones-12-4-gta-golden-eagles/<br
/>because one of their players was really laggy, but there was
no
one else to play. This team did get some much needed chemistry
recently, but now they need attendance, and that defensive hole
is still very large. This team needs a GK who can carry the team
if they want any chance of success. This team does have talent
in their roster, but a very poor attendance record that needs
improvement. Why this team is so out of order is a mystery, but
General Manager and Chairman Wazza needs to get this team in
gear, and fast if they want any chance of doing well this
season. For now though, they need to first focus on improving
their defense by having an actual GK go in goal, then they can
work on getting the ball in the other net, that is, if they can
find a way to keep it out of their net.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Improved
Defense: Worsened
Chemistry: Slightly Improved
5. Squirtle Squad
HTML http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/blockade_2006/yellocard_zps60417458.pnghttp://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/blockade_2006/yellocard_zps60417458.png<br
/>(0 - 0 - 0 - 5) - 1 PTS , 5th Division B LAST WEEK: 5
GF: 0 [X] GA: 16 [21] GD: -16 [-21] OFFENSE: F
DEFENSE: F OVERALL: F
Well, if I must say something positive it would be that they
finally had 3 players show up so they did not have to forfeit
every game 3 - 0. However, they then lost their only non-forfeit
game 0 - 10
HTML http://hcd.createaforum.com/week-2-138/week-2-day-3-squirtle-squad-vs-penguin-pride-(0-10)/msg3752/#msg3752<br
/>by Mercy Rule. I do not know why this team cannot seem to get
anything going, or why they have difficulty showing up. Clearly
only having 2 picks in the Season 3 Entry Draft did not bode
well for stone55's team. This team needs to sign or trade for
players who will show up. Once they have an attendance that will
not cause a 3 - 0 forfeit, they can then work on keeping the
ball out of their net and getting it into the other net. This
team needs to work on everything because they cant even go a
couple minutes without allowing a goal. This team should try to
do their best until the All-Star break, and during the break
they should be having as many practices and vs the worlds as
possible in order to build some chemistry and climb their way
back into the Division B playoffs. They currently sit 4 points
back of the 4th place GTA Golden Eagles, who have
a game in hand on the Squirtle Squad. If this team can find some
chemistry, they may be able to obtain some points and then
maybe, just maybe, this team can win its first ever playoff
appearance.
Week 2 Performance Index:
Offense: Slightly Worsened
Defense: Worsened
Chemistry: Unchanged

cyclones have a higher grade (A- > B+) so cyclones are ahead of
nh
also cyclones are ahead of nh on the standings because of their
goal differential

i base the grades on an average goals for game ratio, and the DR
ratio is within the C+ window
and DR is ahead of OW because OW offense is shit, as they got a
D+
also, i get my grades from average goals for/against - not much
opinion here - i simply state which teams have had the best
performances so far
