Season 3 Week 1 Power Rankings - Commishball Edition [Div A +
Div B]
DIR By: Lord of Fail
Date: January 20, 2013, 9:52 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
DIVISION A
1. New York Haxball Club (2 - 1 - 0 - 0) 8 PTS , 1st Division A
GF: 8 [8] GA: 2 [2] GD: 6 [6] OFFENSE: B -
DEFENSE: A + OVERALL: A -
There was no doubt as to which team would be atop the Division A
Power Rankings. They have a 5 point lead over 2nd place in
Division A and have yet to lose a game. The question now is: can
they continue on this impressive streak, or will they crumble
like the Season 2 Mexican Rattlesnakes? The New
York Haxball Club rely on powerful offense to down their
opponents, but had difficulty playing against the defense
oriented Orlando WillyNillys. The key for this team is to remain
focused, as that will surely lead them to glory.
2. Orlando WillyNillys (0 - 1 - 1 - 0) 3 PTS , 2nd Division A
GF: 2 [2] GA: 2 [2] GD: 0 [E] OFFENSE: D -
DEFENSE: A + OVERALL: B -
The Orlando WillyNillys, if they wish to win the Cup again will
need to find a way to score goals, and fast. They had
spectacular defense throughout the first week, but failed to
score. If this team wishes to succeed and catch the
New York Haxball Club, they will need to be able
to find the back of the net. This team could benefit from some
signing or trading for highly offensive players to compliment
their spectacular defense. The defending Division A champs lost
ground to the New York Haxball Club through a disappointing 1 -
0 overtime loss to them. They did beat the Detroit Recession,
although they had to wait until overtime to do so. For this team
for defend their title, someone needs to step up and begin to
score goals.
3. Detroit Recession (0 - 1 - 1 - 0) 3 PTS , 3rd Division A
GF: 3 [3] GA: 3 [3] GD: 0 [E] OFFENSE: D +
DEFENSE: A - OVERALL: C +
The Detroit Recession have the exact same stats as their rivals,
the Orlando WillyNillys. However, they are behind
them because they lost to them 2 - 1 in overtime. The Detroit
Recession had a difficult first week, playing the highly
defensive Orlando WillyNillys. However, the best offense from
Season 2 failed to score in regulation against the Swag
Weathermen, who are struggling to survive in the top Division.
Instead, they only got 2 points in a disappointing 2 - 1
overtime win. This team needs to really start scoring. If they
don't start scoring soon, they will not succeed. The Detroit
Recession have shown some defensive awareness, but have not
revived their powerful offense. They failed to score against
teams this week, whether they were strong or weak defensively,
and if they want to win, they need to score. The best defense is
a strong offense.
4. United Talent (0 - 1 - 0 - 1) 2 PTS , 4th Division A
GF: 5 [5] GA: 8 [8] GD: -3 [-3] OFFENSE: B -
DEFENSE: F OVERALL: C -
This team is in the opposite situation of most teams in Division
A. This team has decent offense, as they scored 5 goals in their
2 games. However, they need to tighten up on D, as they allowed
8 goals in their 2 games, averaging 4 goals allowed per game. As
the ratings show, this team could benefit from some trading with
some of the defensive Division A teams in order to obtain some
defense and give away some of their extra forwards who they dont
play. The retirement of 1st overall pick Drag will certainly
hurt this team, but now that they have the #1 waiver spot, they
must use this to sign a new star player who will lead them to
glory. General Manager and Chairman Vipurness needs to use
trades or signs to improve their defense, or this team may not
survive the Season in Division A, and if they do, their chances
of winning the Cup are next to nothing.
5. Swag Weathermen
HTML http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/blockade_2006/redcard_zps6d4fa84d.png<br
/>(0 - 0 - 2 - 1) 0 PTS , 5th Division A
GF: 5 [5] GA: 8 [8] GD: -3 [-3] OFFENSE: D +
DEFENSE: C OVERALL: C -
The Swag Weathermen have nothing going. They have poor offense
and fail to score on their chances, scoring only 5 goals in 3
games while allowing 8. They held off against the
Detroit Recession to obtain 1 hard earned point,
which they promptly lost due to not writing the Match Report.
This team also suffered from poor trades that the Assistant
General Manager approved of without informing the Owner or
General Manager. This is a team that clearly lacks
communication. This team needs to get their act in gear if they
want to stay in Division A. This team could benefit from some
practices or proper Staff communication in order to make good
decisions. This team has talent to succeed, it just needs
communication and chemistry. If they obtain those things, the
wins and points will surely follow.
DIVISION B
1. Penguin Pride (2 - 0 - 0 - 0) 6 PTS , 1st Division B
GF: 7 [7] GA: 0 GD: 7 [7] OFFENSE: A
DEFENSE: A + OVERALL: A +
The Penguin Pride got exactly what they wanted this week. They
got revenge on the Night Hawks who eliminated
them from the HCD Cup last season by beating them 1 - 0 in an
intense match. They then displayed their offensive power with a
6 - 0 demolition of the GTA Golden Eagles, showing great
chemistry and superb offense. The Penguin Pride have some
difficult matches coming up in Week 2, playing both in a rematch
against the Night Hawks and against the Division leading Cuba
Cyclones. If this team can win their Week 2 matches, they will
be in a very good position nearing the halfway point of the
season.
2. Night Hawks (1 - 1 - 0 - 1) 5 PTS , 2nd Division B
GF: 8 [8] GA: 2 [2] GD: 6 [6] OFFENSE: B -
DEFENSE: A + OVERALL: A -
Second in the Division B Commishball Edition of the Power
Rankings are the Night Hawks. At the beginning of the season,
the Night Hawks were the favorites to win the Division and they
certainly showed why in Week 1. They destroyed the
GTA Golden Eagles 6 - 0, then lost in a
disappointing 1 - 0 game against their rivals, the Penguin
Pride. They then came back to beat the Cuba Cyclones 2 - 1 in
overtime. The Night Hawks are a great team, with powerful
offense and great defense. They rely on good passing and high
possession time to create chances to score on. This is a highly
talented team that is going to push for the Division B Cup to
promote to Division A next season.
3. Cuba Cyclones (1 - 0 - 1 - 1) 5 PTS , 3rd Division B
GF: 4 [4] GA: 2 [2] GD: 6 [6] OFFENSE: D
DEFENSE: A + OVERALL: B -
Of all the teams in HCD, The Cuba Cyclones were the least likely
to be in the race for top spot their division. They finished in
last place in Season 2, but got 4 points from 2
Squirtle Squad forfeits, 1 resulting in a Draw.
They showed that they have improved since Season 2, pushing the
Night Hawks into overtime off an unlucky bounce before losing in
overtime. The overtime loss gave the Cyclones an essential point
to stay in the race for 1st place in Division B after the first
week of Season 3. The Cuba Cyclones are tied in points with the
Night Hawks and trail the Penguin Pride by 1 point. This team
showed great defense, and even though they had very little
possession, they stuck to their tactics, played their game and
gave up very few chances as a result. However, this team showed
that it needed an influential player, a player who could give
them more possession time and a much needed offensive boost. The
usage of their 1st overall waiver spot to sign power forward El
Diablo may be exactly what this team needs; someone who can take
the ball and score. If El Diablo can build some chemistry with
1st overall Division B pick -NDR-, the Cuba Cyclones may become
one of the strongest teams in HCD and will certainly push for
the promotion spot to Division A. They have a 2-game Week 2
schedule, with the big game against the Penguin Pride and
another game against the GTA Golden Eagles.
4. GTA Golden Eagles (0 - 0 - 0 - 2) 0 PTS , 5th Division B
GF: 0 GA: 12 [12] GD: -12 [-12] OFFENSE: F
DEFENSE: F OVERALL: F
The GTA Golden Eagles have done nothing right. They have a lot
of talent, but no chemistry whatsoever. This team needs to find
a solid GK to defend the net, and then they can work on creating
offensive chances. This team will not find success unless it can
find a way to begin scoring goals. Watch out, because once this
team begins scoring, they will probably begin scoring in bulk.
If this team finds a solid GK, they could become very dangerous.
They have a difficult task ahead of them, but it is certainly
possible to achieve, but only if the players are committed to
the success of the team. If they have some practices, and get a
GK, this team will certainly begin to win games.
5. Squirtle Squad
HTML http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/blockade_2006/yellocard_zps60417458.png<br
/>(0 - 0 - 0 - 2) 0 PTS , 4th Division B
GF: 0 GA: 5 [5] GD: -5 [-5] OFFENSE: N/A
DEFENSE: N/A OVERALL: N/A
RIP Squirtle Squad. The players are not happy, they have yet to
be able to field 3 players, and Owner stone55 is potentially
getting impeached soon. Their low amount of draft picks, only
picking 2 players has come back to haunt this team, as they do
not have many players on the roster. This team needs to begin
trading or signing players, or they will only continue to
forfeit matches and rack up the Yellow Cards.
Currently with no points, this team has a record attendance of 2
players, thus not allowing me to grade their offense or defense
skills, as they have not played a legal game yet. Hopefully
stone55 and rfranklinz can turn things around with new AGM sonic
who has been sent down from their Division A Affiliate. Perhaps,
this team may begin to show up and play games. Once they do
that, they can begin to build some chemistry and them possibly
even win some games. It will require a lot of work however, it
is certainly possible. Just look at the Night Hawks and the
Penguin Pride. Both those teams had 0 points halfway through
Season 2, but both teams turned things around, got new players
and qualified for the playoffs. Ultimately the Night Hawks even
managed to win the Conference before falling in the HCD Cup
finals. It is possible, but it is a very difficult task. They
may as well try to turn around, they have nothing to lose. They
are in last place in the lowest Division, they can't possibly be
doing any worse.
