Week 3 Power Rankings - Commishball Edition
By: Lord of Fail Date: December 16, 2012, 9:46 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
PREFACE: Week 3 was an exciting week, full of comebacks, chokes
and upsets. These Power Rankings are taking into account Weeks 1
and 2, but Week 3 is most heavily weighted. With that being
said, let the Commishball Edition of the Power Rankings begin!
1. Orlando WillyNillys (8-0-0-1, 24 PTS) GF: 12 (30) GA: 1
(4) GD: 11 (26) LAST WEEK: 1
OFFENSE: A +
DEFENSE: A OVERALL: A +
No surprise here. The WillyNillys continue their white-hot
streak even with the suspended alexa, scoring 12 goals and only
allowing 1. They are the current favorites to win the HCD Cuppp,
and have already clinched a Promotion to Division A. Week 4 will
be interesting to see who finishes atop HCD East; the
WillyNillys or the Recession. The WillyNillys have shown
extremely high chemistry with a nearly impenetrable defense.
However, their greatest enemy might be themselves, as they must
not get over confident or they risk choking hard come the
postseason.
2. Detroit Recession (7-0-1-1 , 22 PTS) GF: 18 (45) GA: 2
(6) GD: 16 (39) LAST WEEK: 2
OFFENSE: A +
DEFENSE: A - OVERALL: A
Another no brainer. The Recession stomped over each of their 3
Week 3 opponents and the only thing in their way of winning the
HCD Cuppp is in their Conference and their Season 3 Division A
Rivals, the Orlando WillyNillys. With incredible offense and
stunning defense, this Original 4 team has shown that they are a
massive contender for the HCD Cuppp, and should they upset the
WillyNillys, they have a high chance of winning the Cuppp.
However, like the WillyNillys, they must stay calm and not get
ahead of themselves or they risk being upset themselves. The
Rattlesnakes are not to be taken lightly even though they are
not playing well. They must continue to play like a team, and
doing so should set up for an exciting HCD East finale.
3. Toronto Raiders (2-0-1-6, 7 PTS) GF: 7 (9) GA: 2 (32)
GD: 5 (-23) LAST WEEK: 8
OFFENSE: C +
DEFENSE: A - OVERALL: B
Comeback. 'Nuff said. The Raiders have come together and have
played like a team, winning 2 of their 3 games, and forcing the
third game into OT before falling 1 - 0. Their forwards have
scored 7 goals this week, and they only allowed 2 goals. They
have accomplished a great comeback that puts them in 2nd place
in HCD West, and threaten to upset the Weathermen if they
continue to play as a team. This team is especially dangerous
because it has nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Look
out, because the raiders are cooking up an exciting HCD West
finale.
4. Night Hawks (1-1-0-7, 5 PTS) GF: 7 (14) GA: 7 (13) GD:
0 (-19) LAST WEEK: 7
OFFENSE: C +
DEFENSE: C + OVERALL: C +
Another comeback. The Night Hawks surprised everybody in the
league by performing at a quality above their position in the
standings. However, they currently sit in last in HCD West, and
might miss the playoffs depending on the performances of their
team and of other teams. The HCD West playoff race is an
exciting one, as the Night Hawks can overtake the Cyclones
should they beat them on Week 4 Day 1. Their fate is in their
own hands, and they shall determine whether they shall make the
playoffs or not.
5. Swag Weathermen (6-0-0-3, 18 PTS) GF: 2 (14) GA: 8 (15)
GD: -6 (-1) LAST WEEK: 6
OFFENSE: F
DEFENSE: C OVERALL: D
Despite nearly clinching an automatic promotion to Division A
and clinching the top spot in HCD West, they still sit in the
bottom half of the Commiball Edition of the Power Rankings.
This is because they stumbled through Week 3, only managing 1
win, which they obtained through a goal in the last 20 seconds
of play. Even though they clinched their conference, they need
to still play well if they want to be in a high spot in the
Commishball Edition of the HCD Power Randings. They currently
sit 3rd overall, 2 points above the Mexican Rattlesnakes. They
need to play well in Week 4 to keep that lead, because only the
top 3 teams get an automatic promotion to Division A, with the
4th spot going to the team that wins the HCD Cuppp or the team
that finished 4th overall if the team that wins the HCD Cuppp
finished in the top 4. The Swag Weathermen need to regain their
composure and begin to play like a top team again or they will
not be the Champions of HCD West come Week 5...
6. Mexican Rattlesnakes (5-1-0-3, 16 PTS) GF: 4 (28) GA: 10
(22) GD: -6 (6) LAST WEEK: 3
OFFENSE: D +
DEFENSE: D OVERALL: D
The team that once looked invincible has crumbled, winning only
one game in Week 3. They fell to the Recession and to the
WillyNillys, thus giving them no real hope of winning HCD East
and getting a bye to the second round of the playoffs. The
Rattlesnakes must get themselves together, or they will lose in
the play-in of the playoffs, providing they manage to gain 3
points in Week 4. The Rattlesnakes still have a sharp tooth, but
it seems that they have forgotten how to use it. They are
currently not a contender for the HCD Cuppp unless they can
start playing as a team.
7. Squirtle Squad (3-0-0-6, 9 PTS) GF: 3 (19) GA: 11 (26)
GD: -8 (-11) LAST WEEK: 5
OFFENSE: D
DEFENSE: D - OVERALL: D -
The Squirtle Squad have pretty much been eliminated from the HCD
playoffs, unless they win all their games and the Rattlesnakes
lose all their games, a feat which seems unlikely. The Squirtle
Squad lost all 3 of their Week 3 games, and will remain in
Division B for Season 3. This team needs a major overhaul and
some chemistry and team building exercises, if they want to win
any Week 4 matches and maybe finish the season on a high note.
[color=#008080]8. Cuba Cyclones (2-0-0-7, 6 PTS) GF: 2 (13)
GA: 12 (34) GD: -10 (-21) LAST WEEK: 8
OFFENSE: F
DEFENSE: F OVERALL: F
The Cyclones have failed to gain even 1 point in Week 3, and
only had 1 game in which 4 playable players joined the room. The
Cyclones, if they want any chance of entering the HCD Playoffs,
need to get organized and build chemistry, which they are sorely
lacking. They need to start showing up to games and sticking to
their gameplan. The Cuba Cyclones have 1.5 weeks to get
themselves into shape and start playing like the team they can
be. They have plenty of potential, but massively sub-par
performances and attendance have doomed this team to failure.
Their GM is the only reason that they are not last in the
league, as he has scored 7 of the team's 13 goals this season.
The Cyclones have allowed more goals than any other team this
season, allowing a grand total of 34 goals in 9 games. If this
trend continues, they will finish dead last in HCD. However, if
they can pull themselves together, they can win games. Wazza,
Michael Jackson and Lord of Fail are decent forwards, and if
Andyvoh and Natalie have solid performances, they can win some
games in Week 4, break their 5-game losing streak, and enter the
Playoffs with a slight chance at the HCD Cuppp. It is a slight
chance, for if they play as a team, they can win the Play-in,
and they beat the stumbling Weathermen in the HCD West finals,
and then have a very small chance of causing a major upset in
the finals. It is a small chance, but it is from small chances
and large odds stacked against that legends are born, miracles
occur and history gets made. For the Cyclones to win the HCD
Cuppp and get promoted to Division A would require nothing short
of that; a miracle.
