Week 2 Power Rankings - Commishball Edition
DIR By: Lord of Fail
Date: December 10, 2012, 8:36 am
---------------------------------------------------------
1. Orlando WillyNillys (3-0-0-1 , 15 PTS) GF: 18 GA: 3
GD: 15 LAST WEEK: 3
OFFENSE: B +
DEFENSE: A + OVERALL: A
The WilyNillys are the exact opposite of the Recession. Instead
of going all out offense, they rely on strong defense and
minimal offense to win games, as their A+ Defense and B+ offense
shows. They went undefeated in Week 2, keeping up with the
red-hot Recession and Rattlesnakes, and have taken 1st in HCD
East at Midseason. This team is a serious cuppp contender as
they know how to shut down offense. Watch this team down the
stretch, as their performances will define their fate in the
playoffs. Should they face the Rattlesnakes or Recession, an
epic 3 or 5 game series will occur no doubt.
2. Detroit Recession (4-0-1-1 , 13 PTS) GF: 27 GA: 4
GD: 23 LAST WEEK: 2
OFFENSE: A +
DEFENSE: A OVERALL: A
The Detroit Recession are a great team. However, they fail to
win against the best of teams. They face a challenge next week
facing the Weathermen, Rattlesnakes and Cyclones. The team is
great on paper, but lacks chemistry. If they gain chemistry and
play well, they could be one of the best teams in HCD. However,
they just cant seem to put the finishing touches against best
teams, as 19 of their 27 goals came against the Raiders and the
Hawks, in 10 - 0 and 9 - 0 wins, respectively. The Recession are
not out of the playoff race however, and HCD East will be
exciting to watch down the stretch.
3. Mexican Rattlesnakes (4-1-0-1 , 13 PTS) GF: 24 GA: 12
GD: 12 LAST WEEK: 1
OFFENSE: A
DEFENSE: C + OVERALL: B
How the Mighty have fallen. The Rattlesnakes, looking so strong
in Week 1 fell to the Squirtle Squad 1 - 5 and barely edged the
Cyclones 3 - 2. They have fallen to 3rd in HCD East due to a Red
Card given as a result of an illegal substitution. The
Rattlesnakes need to get back in gear, and go back to being an
offensive powerhouse with stonewall defense. A sloppy Week 2 has
cost them dearly, as they no longer look as strong as after Week
1. They still have the potential to overtake HCD East if they
beat the WillyNillys on Week 3 Day 1, whom they trail by 2
points. The weak point of the Rattlesnakes has been their
sub-par defense, and teams took advantage of that in Week 2. The
Rattlesnakes should still be played with caution, as they are
still dangerous, but their offense is no longer as potent and
their defense is collapsing.
4. Cuba Cyclones (2-0-0-4 , 6 PTS) GF: 11 GA: 21 GD:
-10 LAST WEEK: 6
OFFENSE: C
DEFENSE: C OVERALL: C
Although they may not be atop their Conference, the Cyclones
have shown in Week 2 that they are becoming stronger and more
organized. Obtaining power forward Wazza from Waivers and
Goalkeeper Andyvoh from the Weathermen was exactly what the
Cyclones needed. They are beginning to show signs of chemistry
and a more structured defense. They only allowed 7 goals in Week
2, and managed to containg the powerful Rattlesnakes to only 3
goals with spectacular and somewhat frantic defending, who
barely edged them 3 - 2 in a thrilling match. Although they
trail the Weathermen by 9 points, the Weathermen have a
difficult schedule ahead of them, where as the Cyclones have a
somewhat easier schedule ahead of them, only playing 2 HCD East
teams, the Squirtle Squad and the Recession. If the Cyclones
continue of this path, they could find themselves in a very good
position heading in to the Playoffs, and could even potentially
be a contender for the HCD Cupppp. The Cyclones are currently on
a strengthening trend, and the Weathermen might be forecasting
the Cyclones weaker then they actually are.
5. Squirtle Squad (3-0-0-3 , 9 PTS) GF: 16 GA: 15 GD: 1
LAST WEEK: 5
OFFENSE: B +
DEFENSE: C + OVERALL: B -
The Squirtle Squad, after looking good in Week 1, stumbled
through Week 2, only winning 1 game. However, they showed signs
of chemistry and strong team play, creating an uspet of the
Mexican Rattlesnakes who were unbeaten at the time. The Squirtle
Squad need to use that win as a springboard and continue with
strong team play and good chemistry if the want to qualify for
the Playoffs. They currently trail 3rd place in HCD East by 4
points, but could move to within 1 point if the beat the
Rattlesnakes again this week. They have shown that they can play
well although they often do not. If this team comes together
down the stretch, it could squeeze itself into the playoffs and
possible be a Cuppp contender. It will be an uphill battle
however, but it is certainly possible, and for the Squirtle
Squad, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.
6. Swag Weathermen (5-0-0-1 , 15 PTS) GF: 12 GA: 7 GD:
5 LAST WEEK: 4
OFFENSE: C
DEFENSE: B + OVERALL: B -
Despite going undefeated in Week 2, they only managed to edge
their opposition by 1 goal in each game, even though they were
not facing strong opponents. They only scored 1 goal against the
Toronto Raiders and the Night Hawks, both of whom have yet to
register a point. The Weathermen have a lack of overall team
play, and made a big mistake in trading Andyvoh to the Cyclones,
as that could come back to bite them. Their defense is still
standing strong, but it has been hard to tell when they play
teams at the bottom of the standings. Week 3 will probably be
brutal for them, as the play the Recession, the WillyNillys and
the Cyclones. Should they fall to the Cyclones, and fail to beat
the powerhouse Recession and impenetrable defense of the
WillyNillys, the Weathermen could find themselves out of the top
HCD West stop by the start of Week 4. This team will need to
figure out how to score against the top-tier teams. At this
rate, the Weathermen will find themselves in the playoffs, but
might not be able to pass their rivals, the Cyclones.
7. Night Hawks (0-0-0-6 , 0 PTS) GF: 7 GA: 26 GD: -19
LAST WEEK: 7
OFFENSE: F
DEFENSE: D OVERALL: D -
The Night Hawks are collapsing. They cannot seem to find the
back of the net at all, failing to score even 1 goal during Week
2. Granted, they played the Weathermen, the Cyclones and the
Recession, but that is no excuse for poor performance. The team
is very rich in talent, but poor in coaching and managing.
General Manager blockade needs to get his act in gear, and coach
his team to some victories, which they can achieve. All they
need is some good practice sessions and to build some chemistry.
Doing so would almost certainly put this team in the third and
final HCD West playoff spot, where they will play either the
Cyclones or the Weathermen. Unless this team changes is style of
play and gets some chemistry, it will stumble into the playoffs
and get eliminated quickly and efficiently by a team with
chemistry and structure, both of which the Night Hawks are
lacking.
8. Toronto Raiders (0-0-0-6 , 0 PTS) GF: 2 GA: 29 GD:
-27 LAST WEEK: 8
OFFENSE: F
DEFENSE: F OVERALL: F
The Toronto Raiders have continued the trend, proving that a
name is just that; a title, a meaningless thing that does not
identify a person or, in this case, a team. The Toronto Raiders
have had attendance problems, continuing from their previous
name, the Mandarin Mandibles. Unless Bubble Gum
gets his team into action, they wont be able to win a single
game this season. The talent is there in recent FA signings MSL,
ask me something and Apathy. Combined with GK lelouch the
Toronto Raiders could be a decent team, but they first have to
get their act together. At the moment, the team will lost
practically every game, miss the playoffs, and be put into
Division 3B for Season 3.

beat Cyclones 3 - 2
So yes, they went unbeaten in week 2

>Lord of Fail
First of all, Swag Weathermen should ABSOLUTELY be atop of Cuba
Cyclones and Squirtle Squad. We proved very well this week that
we are a very underrated team. We focus manly on defense which
is why we won 1-0 twice, but if you look at the replay vs TR,
they had a decent lineup out there and played much better than
usual. We still beat them. Not to mention, we have an
underrated GK in Superman. If he keeps playing the way he has
in net, people will start to think he is the real superman. You
DO NOT put the team that's tied for 1st in the league at #6.
Perhaps we have a tough schedule next week as we face both DR
and OW, but we do play CC (which shud be an ez game if Scott,
Superman, OTP and/or me show up) and the schedule next week
should NOT affect power ranking this week.
I usually don't get mad at power rankings, but this is just
retarded and absurd.
Lastly, >making HCD power rankings in chemistry class.
