I'm messing around with the idea of a teamspeak server

For those of you who don't know what teamspeak is, teamspeak is
a lightweight Voice Over IP (VOIP) application that lets you
communicate via voice chat in real time with other members on
your teamspeak server. Teamspeak servers can be split up into
different sections, called channels; and these users on a
channel can only speak to and hear other users on that channel.
I think a teamspeak server would be very helpful to this league
for many reasons.
A teamspeak server would allow teams playing in games to
communicate in real time to increase their chemistry and improve
their tactics. It would also allow for livestreamers to create
live color commentaries with players and the server host.
General managers would be able to meet on teamspeak and discuss
and issues that need to be addressed.
On a side note, I also think that live streams should instead be
changed to youtube videos because almost no one watches the live
streams and youtube videos can be re-watched easily. We could
set up an HCD official youtube channel and upload videos to it.
Here's how the channels could be set up:
-- Main Section --

[li]Default guest channel - where all users join when they
first log on to the server.[/li]
[/list]-- Support Section -- This section is open to all users
and contains channels that have to do with help/support

[li]Talk to an Admin - used if you have a question about the
league[/li]
[li]Technical Support - used if you need help with
teamspeak[/li]
[/list]
-- Game Day Section -- This section contains all channels
concerned with game days
[list]
[li]Live Stream - used for color commentary/interviews with the
streamer and players[/li]
[li]Home Team - used by the home team to communicate with other
members on the team[/li]
[li]Away Team - used by the away team to communicate with other
members on the team[/li]
[/list]
-- Team Locker Rooms -- All team locker room channels will go in
this section
[list]
[li][Team Name]'s Locker Room - used by members of [Team Name].
These channels are password protected, so only team members can
access them. It's the GMs responsibility to maintain their own
locker room.[/li]

To start off, we could have the streamer host the server; and if
we like having teamspeak, we can have everyone pitch in a very
small amount of money (less than a dollar) to help pay for a
24/7 dedicated server.

ive tried looking for some program where hcd players can talk i
tried ts but you have to pay ive tried mumble but im pretty sure
u have to pay there as well. Unless u can find a program in mind
thats either cheap or free we could do this.

It only costs money to have someone host the teamspeak server.
Hosting a teamspeak server off of your own computer is
completely free. The problem with hosting the server off your
computer is that as soon as the computer turns off, the server
turns off. Renting a dedicated server from 3rd party companies
allows the server to stay online 24/7, but of course that costs
money. Nevertheless, teamspeak server hosts are very cheap
(about $3.00 per 10 people per month).

After about 5 minutes of tinkering, I was able to set up a local
teamspeak server off my own computer complete with all the
channels I described in my OP. It was pretty easy to make, so I
suppose I could make a short post on how to do it so others can
set one up as well. I'm still trying to figure out if I can
simply give the server's files to other people so they can set
up a copied instance of it rather than having to create all the
channels themselves.
Oh and after a very quick search I found that typefrag.com sells
30 slot teamspeak servers for $86.40 annually, which is
ridiculously cheap considering that's a monthly cost of $7.20
and we have plenty of members who I'm guessing would be willing
to split the bill. Even if we only had 20 people donate to the
cause it would be $4.32 per person.

stuff on there atm anyways (the cup round 2 draw videos)

Well that would work, but I was thinking more along the lines of
an official youtube channel with a youtube name like
"HCDOfficial" or something like that. It's free after all, and
that way other people can upload to the channel.

I wish I could, but I have to get homework done plus
applications for my AP science courses for next year that are
due tomorrow (not that I procrastinated doing them for 2 weeks
though :P). I'd love to have a talk though over the weekend if
others are up to it.
