NYC Meetup - week of 3/17-3/23
By: animaniactoo Date: March 11, 2022, 10:46 am
---------------------------------------------------------
We're rebooting this attempt to do a NYC meetup, kicked off by
[member=212]ManyHats[/member] visit. She sent me this on her
availability:
3/17-23, probably seeing old friends in the evenings
through the 20th, and cat-sitting from the 20th-23rd
If you're interested in meeting up with peeps in the NYC area
(or traveling to NYC for a meetup), please respond here with
your best availability. We will likely try to do another one
over the summer, but let's see who we can get together next
week!

I'm in the city for work on Tuesdays/Wednesdays and can do lunch
or dinner then.
Can make dinner work any other day for 7ish pm. Can make
anything work on the weekend. Maybe Sunday morning Brunch
somewhere?

All of these sound good except dinner Wednesday - my train
leaves at 7:40pm. Thanks for starting this thread, Ani!

I could do Tuesday the 20th also. We've been asked to come in
one day prior to our official return to work out any
tech/connectivity kinks, so if Tuesday works for all, I could
make that my day in the city, and meet up in the evening.
I could do a Sunday brunch as well.
I could probably be flexible on other days also, after seeing
what works for the most number of people.

Tuesday is the 22nd - still good for you? Sunday brunch would
still work for me.

Oops. Yes, Tuesday. Whatever the number it is! Or brunch.

If you schedule a meetup in NYC in the summer, I would certainly
try to come!

I'm planning to visit a friend of mine in NY this year. It would
be awesome to take a side trip to the city :-)

Dropping a few restaurant possibilities - these are all places
that I have eaten and enjoyed. The main place I would have
recommended has apparently closed permanently. Apparently so is
one of the major backups! Holy smokes.
I'm more focused on Sunday Brunch I think as I think that sounds
like it's the most definitely doable for everyone so far? And
probably easiest for anyone who would want to travel to meetup
to do. If anyone else has any recs, toss em out here:

Eataly is a whole thing in itself which could be really
interesting, and apparently will still be doing their own
restaurant fest thing during this time (this would more be lunch
than brunch):

Generally - this is very small restaurants within a high end
grocery store, possible to order from different ones and meet in
a "central table" kind of location, although not sure if that's
true during the restaurant fest here. I can tell you the pasta
place's cacio e pepe is amazingggggg stuff, and so is the
burrata.

And then there's your very traditional diner place - food has
been decent or better when I've eaten here:

Poking around for things close to Union Square also:

For the Hollywood Diner, you can get the menu by hitting the
"order online" button.
