       GenXers (about 20% of the U.S. population) were infants/children
       during the years of peak "pernicious" lead - the result of
       decades of burning ever increasing volumes of leaded gasoline.
       Yeah, that seems about right, doesn't it.

       That doesn't even cover the kids in cities where radiators and
       other stuff were painted with lead-based paint! (Which here, has
       been an ongoing issue of remediation as infants toddlers
       sometimes ate the cracked and fallen paint chips.)

       It was t really just radiators and other stuff, it was pretty
       much all paints and coating, except for the very deep base
       colors. Including what people call wall paint.
       Basically if there was white pigment in the paint or coating,
       well the white pigment was white lead.  And most paints and
       coatings have white in them, to varying degrees.
       I recently had someone in my industry bemoan we couldn’t use
       white lead anymore. I looked at him thinking he was just making
       a bad joke. He wasn’t.
       There are still some lead based chemicals used as pigments in
       the paints and coatings industry, I can think of at least 2.
       Lead chromate which is a lovely lemon yellow although not used
       for its color, and Moly Orange, which is a nice clean bright
       orange.  Moly orange is pretty rare in the US, but I know of at
       least one company that uses it for coatings that are shipped to
       the Caribbean.  Lead chromate is slowly going away, but it
       really is an excellent anti corrosive pigment, so it is still
       used is specific applications in the US.
