Hey, Long Tall! I just saw the link to here on today's thread,
and I am so sorry to hear about the accident! What a terrible
time for you all!
Please allow me to offer the best of all possible good wishes
for strength and healing and resilience for your great-nephew,
and for strength and serenity and patience for all you
adult-types gathered 'round. Sounds like everyone's got their
hands full keeping him from bouncing around too much, but it's
good that he wants to -- and I hope that he can, with the
doctors' blessing, soon.
We love you and we miss you; and (not counting this frightening
mishap) I hope you're doing well!

Thinking of your niece and her grandson and hoping very much
that everything goes really well -

He sounds like a tough kid who'll come through this with flying
colors. Since my mojo regenerated overnight, I'm sending him
another truck full.
For what it's worth from a non-medical person, youth and the
fact that he is still growing are in his favor.

I didn't want to bother LT yet. But if I don't hear something,
maybe by tomorrow, I'll email her.

Update on LT’s nephew…
I wanted to give an update on D. Please feel free to share
because he definitely needs more mojo. Here goes:
D had an MRI today and neurosurgeons decided immediate surgery
is the best way forward. They debated waiting 8 weeks for
additional healing but felt the potential for more damage was
too high. His surgery is scheduled for 12:30 tomorrow and
involves a plate, screws, and bone grafts. He will be in ICU
for a few more days after surgery, then transfer to in patient
rehab for a few weeks. Then he’ll be on bed rest at home and
wear a Miami J collar for an undetermined time period.
Mojo for a successful surgery & rapid healing & good pain
control is really appreciated. Thanks for your kindness - it
means more than you’ll ever know.

They're going to go in now and fix things? Sounds like a plan!
Sending more of the best of all possible good wishes for
strength and healing and resilience for your great-nephew, for
skill, insight and confidence for the medical team, and for
strength and serenity and patience for all you adult-types
waiting for the news from the docs.
He'll have a bit of an adjustment -- and y'all are going to have
your hands full -- once he's in that collar, but being young,
he'll heal quickly.
I'm looking forward to reading about the successful surgery and
the optimistic things the docs say, afterwards.
