Friday night we have pizza for dinner. Tonight I’m making this
frozen cheese pizza for Jojo and me, she will not use the fig
topping. Chitot refuses to try it because he will not eat
“jelly” on pizza out of principle.
I think this pizza is good, especially for frozen pizza. I’m
also making a “regular person pizza” for Chitot with sausage and
pepperoni.

I think that she needs a new understanding of competitive. I am
reminded of the Top Chef Masters where someone had the
opportunity to give their opponent a box of ingredients that
worked well with their cooking style, or sabotage them. They
gave them the one that worked best, because their opinion was
that they wanted to beat them at their best, not because they
were handicapped.

In my exhaustive studies of cooking shows, I’ve noticed that Top
Chef has a season of 15 - 20 competitors so you get invested in
the chefs and the ensuing drama. But Chopped is just a one hour
show with revolving competitors, so the producers have to
manufacture drama, not edit drama. I think in this way, the
contestants are set up differently by the formats.
I loooooove Top Chef but something was off about the Portland
season and I’m not sure what it was, exactly. Maybe I’ve just
been watching the same show for 15 years?

Was it that Gabe is a gross sexist cheating misogynist sexual
harrasser who did not deserve to win?? Or was that just me.
I think the entire cast and crew were on edge - they filmed
during a lot of the worst and most violent of the BLM protests
in Portland. I don't think you can edit out that uncomfortable
sense of unease.
We were rooting for our Richmond, VA chef but she didn't make it
terribly far.

I love that you can get a pizza that can be simple for the kids
and made fancy for the parents. When my kids were little we
churned through Whole Foods cheese pizzas because it was walking
distance from our townhouse. I can't even look at Whole Foods
cheese pizzas anymore but this one I would eat with the jelly on
top!
The hot dogs last night were good. Tonight we are meeting
friends at a brewery that has food. I will eat my weight in
pimento cheese.

Did you google? It's infuriating. I wonder if he got to do the
Aspen thing he won after becoming a walking PR nightmare.
Dawn is going to be judging on the new Houston season! You will
get more Dawn!
I really liked Sara and her obsession with yogurt and was sad
when she got cut.

Yogurt on everything!
I did like the returning contestants. I really like Melissa, I
think she’s from the Boston season. And Padma remains fabulous.
Very disappointed about Gabe. Ugh.

look that up later. Apparently it promises to be a Whole Thing.

I'm going to Trader Joe's today! What are everyone's favorite
things to buy there? I need vanilla extract and the price at
Publix yesterday was jaw dropping. Is vanilla experiencing
supply chain issues???
I'm going to get some fresh Norwegian salmon so I can remember
my body is a temple after eating fried chicken and cheese fries
last night. Anyone have a favorite salmon recipe? I'm getting
kind of burnt on the ones we've been using. Maybe I will do the
Barefoot Contessa asian grilled salmon.

There is a high demand right now. I read that while prices are
high right now, it should be better than 2018, but wth knows
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A decent size bottle was $37! Hoping I can do better at TJ's.
Is the increased demand because we are all still cooking at home
a lot?
