A brief tutorial - Posting

Posting
• To respond to an existing thread, when you are on the thread,
look for the button that says "Reply" (visible at the top and
bottom of the thread when you are on it) Note: Clicking on the
images in this post will expand them for a closer view
[attach=1]
• To quote someone else's post, look for the "quote" button at
the top right of the post you want to quote. Hit that and it
will start a new reply with their message copied and formatted
as a quote. You can edit in your reply box to quote only the
portion that you want and delete the rest if you just wanted to
reply to one sentence or something like that.
Just make sure not to delete the coding between brackets
(quote=___) (/quote), and start your reply after the close quote
tag.
[attach=2]
N.B. You need to place your cursor AFTER all of the quoted text
(after the final close quote tag) so that it does not get mixed
up with the post that you are quoting. Standard is to add your
response at the end of the quoted text so that all of the quotes
fall downwards and can easily be read in order.
• To start a new thread, go to the category/forum you want to be
in, where you can see the list of threads/topics. In the lower
left corner, you should have a button that says "New Topic".
That will allow you to start a new thread/topic/thought.

• For post composition/emojis/font choices, etc. - please refer
to the options directly above the comment box to see what
options are available. There's a "Playground" thread in general
discussion feel free to use it to experiment and test to your
heart's content without worrying about annoying anybody.

Reaction Buttons
• The "Optimism" button has been repurposed to be "Mojo"
• The "Dumb" button has been repurposed to be "Annoyed/Mad/The
people IN this post (not the poster) are dumb"
• There is a brief limited window to undo a reaction if you
fatfingered it or just decided something else worked better. The
undo will only work on the last reaction you made, and it will
not show up at all if you have refreshed the page. We've pretty
much all hit the wrong one at some point, it is unlikely that
anyone will get upset if you hit the "useful" reaction when you
meant to hit the "heart" or even if you hit "disagree" when you
meant to "agree".

Formatting hidden/spoiler text
• Type whatever you want to have "hidden" (and/or GIFs if you
want to)
• Highlight the text and click the thumbs up button in the
formatting options menu above (next(ish) to the "change color"
menu. This will create tags that say "react"
• Post
• The reader will see text that looks like this:
You need to react to this post in order to see this content
• The hidden message/gif/etc. will be revealed when they hit one
of the reaction buttons.
Even better than doing that react thing is this:
[spoiler]
<spoiler> text </spoiler>
Replace pointy brackets with square brackets. I saw smarty pants
@CaviaPorcellus do it on another thread, figured it out by
looking at the coding on her post and immediately stole it.
[/spoiler]
[hr]
PLEASE NOTE: No matter what you do, your post will go to the end
of the thread you are posting on.
There is no subthreading and posts are strictly in chronological
order (first or last depending on how you have your view set).

A couple of quick updates since this was posted:
Teal text is used to indicate sarcasm.
Maroon text is used exclusively by the mods to indicate an
official message/position, rather than personal
opinion/interaction.
