I vote for all text being larger.
Whatever you decide for the background color for quotes is fine
for me—since I have succeeded in most cases in having quotes
with background colors but not all.
However us their a way to get the quote blue in italics, rather
than bold?
Thank you again!

I don't know what the options are, but every time I reply in the
thread of the day post it tells me other people have posted
since I started typing and since we post like rabbits copulate
all day it seems unnecessary to have to click twice to post.
Can we remove that? Am I the only one it bothers?

No!
You're not the only one it bothers.

Thanks for this poll.
I've been manually changing my font to 10. I'm wondering if 9
is an option and how that would look - at least maybe for the
quoted text so it's a little bit larger, but a touch smaller
than new posts.
And making the background color on the quoted text a little bit
lighter seems like a great idea. Just a bit of shading to
differentiate it from new text. Too much or too little can be
hard on the eyes (the Goldilocks Solution).
CatDancing wrote this: "Next, would it be possible for the
response buttons [the smiley-faces and whatnot] to be hidden
unless you're hovering over them? They do add a lot of visual
clutter to the page." Not sure if she's referring to the 16
emojis above the narrative window, or the buttons that allow you
to express your feelings about another's posts - the thumbs up,
down, heart, rainbow, etc. I like those. I'd be ok with the
yellow emojis moving to a subtle drop down list, or whatever.
I've been right clicking for my emoji insertions anyway, haven't
used those.
Note: Some of you are making me feel almost smart. I already
turned off the notification about other replies - set my page to
"Don't warn on new replies."
🙂🙂🙂
P.S. I wish we could combine the best of both commenting sites
into one place where we all could hang. For now, I'm active on
both sites. Each has pros and cons. Why can't I get what I want
where I want it? Whaaaaa!

I have old eyes so I like a bigger font. But I can do that
myself if others don’t like it.
I agree with Labs comment about making gifs smaller. I don’t pay
much attention to them and it waould be easier to scroll through
if they didn’t take up so much space.
But none of this is vital to me.

Visual clutter combined with a small font can be fatiguing after
a while.....and who wants to miss a word of all this brilliance?
:) But seriously, a couple of people already have hinted at
visual discomfort with the current format and it's enough of an
issue that they're taking a break. If we want people to hang
out and post, it has to be easy on the eye in here.
- I'd vote for standard 12 pt font. It's universally easy to
read.
- Make the background color on the quotes softer colors - less
strain on the eyes.
- I've seen several comments on the large, flashing gifs. They
can be funny...or they can actually make people need to look
elsewhere. (Even Netflix has warnings on flashing images within
a program). Can they be made smaller?
- Final note, and this is on the individual posters to decide:
I know it's easy just to hit "quote".....but sometimes that can
lead to about 4 other nested quotes with small fonts.....and
then this teeny little response at the bottom! Perhaps just
select one quote to respond to? That takes away about 70% of
the visual clutter.

The gifs are amusing but also very distracting and hard on the
eyes, especially when several become nested together. I'd
rather read words but don't want to stifle those who like to
images. Maybe encouraging more static memes and fewer flashing
gifs?
