Changing the forum layout options
By: animaniactoo Date: August 17, 2021, 10:16 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I have dug around in the options and I believe that I can change
these options with a custom theme for the forum.
It looks like it will be a little arduous and the forum would be
down for a couple of hours while I tested next weekend (not this
coming one, the one after that).
So.. please vote on what you would like to have happen.
If there's some other formatting change that you'd like to see,
please mention and we'll discuss if it's
possible/worthwhile/wanted/etc.

[size=10pt] I like 10pt text size, myself; it's what I have
here, and I think it's pretty easy to read.
I'd like a couple of other things, too, if they're possible.
For one thing, I can't see any way to cancel a reply without
getting out of the thread entirely and then going back in.
There have been a couple of times when someone posted a reply to
something that was better than what I was stumbling around with,
and I wanted to cancel mine and didn't see how.
Next, would it be possible for the response buttons [the
smiley-faces and whatnot] to be hidden unless you're hovering
over them? They do add a lot of visual clutter to the page, and
Gracie isn't the only person who's feeling the strain.
Also, being quite absent-minded, I would rather like it if,
after I click on a response to someone, the buttons would
disappear. I keep getting the testy message, "You've ALREADY
RESPONDED to this comment, butthead!" Okay, well, maybe not in
exactly those terms -- but close!

Sorry. The rest of that stuff is way beyond me.

I wish the gifs could be smaller. Otherwise, I'm cool with the
formatting.

How much freedom do you get on the backend here? I do design
websites for a living ... not a developer ... but I have
resources.

From what I read earlier - all text sizing and coloring for
everything (although individually adjusted), all background
colors. I did not dig much deeper than that, it didn't really
look like there was much more. Mostly, I can edit what it LOOKS
like in terms of text sizes and colors and background colors.
Not how it functions or lays out significantly beyond that.
There's a "style manager" with some preset themes. What I have
the option to do is create a new theme.

[size=10pt]DARN. But I appreciate you doing what you can with
what you're allowed to alter.

I don't know what the options are, but every time I reply in the
thread of the day post it tells me other people have posted
since I started typing and since we post like rabbits copulate
all day it seems unnecessary to have to click twice to post.
Can we remove that? Am I the only one it bothers?

I removed it in Layout options (I think): you can check a box
to not be shown that annoying msg.
It's easy to do, just cant remember the exact category under
under the layout options ...

That's a personal choice thing - under "Look and Layout" check
the box for "Don't warn on new replies..."
I was really happy to find it cuz I just kept dismissing it over
and over again too. Sometimes 2x in a row because as soon as I
dismissed it and tried again, it would friggen prompt again for
the new post that showed up in those 2 seconds!
