Meanwhile, on the other end of the Chicago area:
It's dark like almost nighttime right now, and I think the rain
will start any minute. Some thunder here, too.

       I'm ready. Here we go:
...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 3 PM PDT
       SATURDAY NEAR BEACHES AND HEADLANDS...
       * WHAT...South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph
       expected near beaches and headlands.
       * WHERE...In Oregon, North Oregon Coast and Central Oregon
Coast. In Washington, South Washington Coast.
       * WHEN...From midnight tonight to 3 PM PDT Saturday.
       * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
       * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A High Wind Warning for the coastal
headlands and beaches means a hazardous high wind event is
expected or occurring in those areas along the immediate
       coast.
Many of the headland areas and beaches are vulnerable to very
strong wind gusts that may pose a safety hazard for
       individuals
or high profile vehicles. The strong winds may also cause
property damage. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more are expected in those areas. Coastal
headlands are characterized by high, rocky shores and steep
       sea
       cliffs.
       PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution
       if
       you must drive.

Holy moley, it's windy out there.
I'm happy because, no snow. But no way I walk in the woods
       today.

There is a blizzard warning in effect for central Oregon and the
Cascades, snow level is at 1500 feet elevation. It has been a
while (2012) since the last blizzard warning in central Oregon.
Here on the coast, high winds, light hail, and rain:

Had a voice mail on my landline last night announcing that local
government offices closed around 1 in the afternoon Monday due
to the storm. Was puzzled. We’re not getting the storm until
       this afternoon/evening, Tuesday.
Then I heard the word ‘parish’ and replayed the whole message.
Somehow Ascension Parish in Louisiana put my number on their
       auto call list!
Will have to see if I can get it removed. 🤞

My neighbor had a couple of blocks of styrofoam stacked next to
the alley. The wind has blown the two blocks very neatly side
by side blocking the alley instead. I guess I should go move
them so the alley isn't blocked, but I would have to get dressed
       to do that.
