I kind of agree with this. I’m a weather junkie but even I have
quit following the news of the storm. They sensationalize it so
much ramping up peoples anxiety, yes mine too, that we lose
sight of the fact that these storms have always existed and
people have dealt with them.
I just walked to the little corner store and yes it was very
cold but I was mostly dressed for it and survived quite nicely.
I’m holding off on a bigger trip to the store until Saturday.
And if it is still really nasty we’ll do without.
Not sure I'd save a store run for Christmas Eve.
We have wind hills of minus 30 today and tomorrow. And the roads
are very slippery. It can wait.
Plus the store I’m thi king abiut is small.
I'm thinking there might be nothing left. The place I went to
today: no eggs; almost no butter; only specialty milks. Plus
everybody was in line.
That seldom happens here. We don’t do the stock up before a
storm thing.
But the place I still want to go before Christmas as if I can is
a Nut store.
I was hoping to go to the store today before the 'storm' hits
(hear it will just be icy and cold). Hoping that going to a
Latino mercado will help reduce the panic lines and out of
groceries. Until you mentioned it,. Didnt even occur to me that
ppl would do a grocery panic over this.

Storm + Christmas + supply chain issues. That's a lot of things
all at once.

about Buffalo: "“This may turn out to be the worst storm in our
community’s history, surpassing the famed blizzard of ’77 for
its ferocity,” he added."
that's quite a statement.

Waiting for daughter to wake up; she tends to sleep in on
breaks.
From county supervisor in Buffalo:
"We need county staff who've been home to replace county staff
who've been working for nearly 3 days, 2 days straight. If your
supervisor is calling you in, we need you to come in. Have to do
shift changes. We'll come pick you up if we can. I'm pleading
with you to come in.
The same goes for hospital employees. We're working with
hospitals to arrange shift changes for employees who've been at
hospitals for more than 48 hours straight. Very difficult
situation."

I ended up doing the Latino store - very busy but fully stocked
and Safeway - also busy and not quite as well stocked when it
came to milk and Pillsbury at least. Anything else, like bread,
seemed fine. Mine you, I was on a mission and wasn't really
browsing.

I am at the airport, headed to LA to see son & family and dog
sit while they go away.
I noticed that the snow bank alongside my driveway was up to the
top of the passenger side window. I don’t know that I recall
this much snow in the almost 30 years I’ve lived here. To date
this month we have had more than 47 inches of snow here in the
Twin Cities. Hopefully it will help with the drought situation.

I was hoping you’d be able to fly today.
We had snow backs like that a few times at our house but that’s
party because our driveway was on two hills. Trying to shovel
and throw the snow that high was never any fun.

Dear Winter,
When I said
I gladly invite you to Boston as much as you
like, as long as it doesn't inconvenience me too much
I
did not mean that you should take it as an invitation to dump
the first measurable snow in the middle of the evening commute
on one of the few days I actually had to go to the office.
Please wait until I've safely made it back to my deathtrap of a
parking lot before unleashing your full fury.
Thank you,
A concerned fan
