They're endlessly fascinating mostly because everything
fascinates them. The coolest part is that it doesn't go away
       with age.

With windchill, 18F here in DC metro on morning of 2nd snow
       storm in last four days.
Everyone in the country saw on Mon the cluster that is DC in a
       snowstorm.
I'd gladly brave the cold to go out to play with LCP: I've never
played in the snow with a Lab, but I bet pretty good money that
       I'd love it.

       O, for a teleporter.
I will allow that it's difficult not to have fun with a puppy.

When I first got Dakota, we went to Humboldt Park for winter
walks. The lagoon froze over enough to walk on, and there was a
huge building on the edge of the lagoon with an outdoor balcony.
One day, we're out on the ice, and a guy is standing on the
balcony idly throwing snowballs in no particular direction.
Dakota notices the throwing and pulls me closer to that end of
the lagoon. So I ask the guy to throw some near her. (I've got
her on a 30' leash and let it play all the way out.) He throws a
snowball, and it lands about 10' from her in about a foot of
powdery snow. She sprints to it, noses the snow, digs for a bit,
and comes out with the snowball. I ask him to do it again, and
she does the same thing. He enjoys the game, too, and repeats it
several more times. She always came up with his snowball.
The short answer is: you'd absolutely love playing in the snow
       with a Lab.

[There's a Humboldt Park across the street from my Milwaukee
high school & it even has a lagoon (where we ice skated as
       kids).]
I cant tell you how enchanted I am by this spectacular snowball
       story. ⛄

Today the Garmin said 32 although I saw WTOP said in the 20s
with wind chill. I went riding. My toes told me to go home
before an hour was up. This was with heavy duty booties and
       heated insoles.
Last year I got mild frost bite riding. Had I of realized that
you could get frostbite that quickly in the DC area I would have
demanded to go home immediately. Instead I tried to gamely keep
biking with him. And the pain was unbelievable as my toes
unthawed. That was mild frostbite. I can't believe what it
would have been like if it was worse. I did ride several times
after that but always took myself home when my toes started
       getting cold. No apparent impact.
This year, my right foot gets cold quickly and won't warm back
up. When skiing in Dec. It look hours and my toes hurt for
hours more even though they felt warm. And its now happening
when biking. So although I didn't have these issues last winter
it would appear the frostbite has left me with lasting
       sensitivity in my right foot.

I've got frostbite damage in my toes and fingertips. I'd like to
say it gets better ..... at least I've gotten used to the
neuropathy? A long, hot shower when I'm done riding/running
helps, as does stopping occasionally to wiggle those appendages.

I'm the newbie who drove in the frozen with my brand new winter
       tires. Sorry!
I love the movie The Great Race and was imagining the scene
where Professor Fate loses his mustache.

I try to constantly wiggle my toes but it doesn't seem to help.
I knew my feet got cold quickly from past experience but this is
completely nuts. It seems like I can only last a couple of
hours skiing before I need to go indoors and warm up.... so its
       definitely a bummer.
I hope I get used to it but my toes are uncomfortable until at
least the next day. And I worry about causing more damage if I
ignore the signals that my feet are cold.

       Do you use toe warmers?
       This cold is really extreme.

I was just looking at heated socks last night but the ones that
seem suitable for ski boots are a pretty sum. 200 to 300$. For
biking we tried heated insoles and neoprene heavy duty booties
that you put over your shoe. That improved things in that I
lasted longer (5 to 10min) in colder weather and slightly less
after effects. Today is even colder. Not planning on biking
today. The after burning of the toes that lasts for hours is
       not fun.

I can't speak to anything about outdoor biking, but I had good
luck skiing with the toe warmers like this:
  HTML https://hothands.com/products/
I have had excellent luck with hothands products in general. I
don't love the insoles as much, I didn't find them that
effective. I've used variations on the hand and toe warmers
       many many times.
I mean, nothing is perfect when it's this cold, but I found
these definitely extended the time I could stay outside. Pro
tip, which I would have known if I read the directions: The
adhesive goes on your sock, not on your ski boot.

I might have to get me some for skiing. We are trying to stay
out of the lodge so having to go in warm up is antiCovid when
       its busy.
