Now that I have received the book and have started reading, it
is hilarious and most definitely hits!

What am I buying to read on the plane? It needs to be engaging
but not too engaging. Maybe one of the many books which trash
       DJT?

Not sure of your taste, but maybe a Stephen King? The last
several years, he's been doing a lot of police procedural or
other crime-based stuff instead of the earlier supernatural
stories he made his name with. I just finished Mr. Mercedes - a
       quick read.

I’ve been reading a lot of light weight mysteries and
“thrillers” on this cruise. Catherine Coulter and Heather Graham
mostly. I picked a few up at the Friends of the Library sale and
as I finish them I leave them in the ships library. I notice
that someone grabs the because they are not there when I drop
       the next one.
I also have a few better books on my Nook. But I like to have
stuff that doesn’t take much brain power when I’m on vacation.
Oh I did read The Tumbling Turner Sisters for my book club
meeting next week. Not great literature but an interesting story
       about vaudeville in 1919.

I'm doing my annual reread through the Discworld novels, with
little side trips to read other old favorites (Wodehouse mostly
this time). Most of my favorite authors are either dead,
retired or so slow they might as well be.
I have read a couple of new to me authors that I've enjoyed, so
will have to order a couple more books when I finish Pratchett.

Read "Tinkers" by Paul Harding, which was a revelation.
Whenever I read prose like that, I feel my hands shouldn't be
       allowed near a keyboard. :)
Currently reading "Hello Beautiful" by Ann Napolitano. About
2/3 through. The comparisons to "Little Women" are fairly
heavily underscored, which is fun since I just rewatched
       Gerwig's "Little Women" recently.

The novel The Queen's Gambit, by Walter Tevis. Upon which the
Netflix miniseries was based. The novel was published in 1983,
so the movie and TV companies were not exactly eager to take it
       on. I'm enjoying it.

Beth, the main character, is at the zoo in Mexico City the day
before the tournament and recognizes the chess champion of the
world looking at the gorillas in their cage: "He was looking
into the cage as though waiting for the gorilla to move a pawn."

Please report back re Alice Munro.
I just finished Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. Beautiful writing at
times but I found it a little slow. I think one would need to be
familiar with the play Our Town to appreciate it fully.
