I just finished The Sentence by Louise Erdrich.
It was really engaging. In some ways I think it was a real story
since it centered around a bookstore, owned by a woman named
Louise and takes place from late 2019 - late 2020. It covers all
the events of that sad, tumultuous, time. And all from the
       perspective of an Ojibwe woman.

       Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver.
       I’m about halfway through.
Amazing. Funny, heartbreaking, you name it.
       ETA…
She won the Pulitzer for it!!!! So well deserved.

Just saw this won the Int'l Booker Prize and it looks so good!!
       Time Shelter. Georgi Gospodinov
       On my kindle. :)
"In an apricot-colored building in Zurich, surrounded by
curiously planted forget-me-nots, Gaustine has opened the first
“clinic for the past,” an institution that offers an inspired
treatment for Alzheimer’s sufferers: each floor reproduces a
past decade in minute detail, allowing patients to transport
themselves back in time to unlock what is left of their fading
memories. Serving as Gaustine’s assistant, the narrator is
tasked with collecting the flotsam and jetsam of the past, from
1960s furniture and 1940s shirt buttons to nostalgic scents and
even wisps of afternoon light. But as the charade becomes more
convincing, an increasing number of healthy people seek out the
clinic to escape from the dead-end of their daily lives—a
development that results in an unexpected conundrum when the
past begins to invade the present."
I'll check back on this later!

The Lost City of the Monkey God, by Douglas Preston. A
nonfiction book about the search for Ciudad Blanca, a fabled
ancient city in Honduras, located in an extremely dangerous and
       inhospitable area of the jungle.

I am rereading Joy in the Morning, my personal favorite of P.G.
       Wodehouse's novels.

engagement is on again, like a governess telling a young charge

My book club just read The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. It
was universally liked and I really enjoyed it. Even the critical
readers liked it. We almost never have a book everyone likes.

Just began Unthinkable, by Jamie Raskin (D) MD congressman
present at Jan 6 insurrection w/family, 6 days after his own son
ended his life. It is breathtaking! Highly recommend.
Jamie is on chemo now for diffuse large B cell lymphoma and
doing well. Working his butt off as usual. So inspiring.

Happiness Falls, by Angie Kim. *****
Mystery about a father who goes missing, also covers issues of
       race, language, autism.
It’s so thought provoking and well written. I’ve learned a lot
       while being entertained.
