       What's for Christmas?
By: Queenie Date: December 18, 2021, 4:59 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
We're having a small Christmas dinner at home, just the four of
us plus my mom, because, covid.
Prime rib, roast potatoes, asparagus, roasted parsnips,
yorkshire pud, Lebanese carrots. Mr. Q said he'd make a
cheesecake, and the boys have requested death pie.
On Christmas eve we four are going out to my favorite sushi
place, where we will get decidedly silly and order enough food
that the kitchen will comp us a bottle of sake, whereupon we
will get even sillier. Should be fun.
Every year Christmas is on the same day, and every year about
now I wonder how it snuck up on me so fast.
       What's planned at your house?

Lasagna, Sunday Gravy, meatballs, sausage, cheesecake.
Just typing that made me feel full.

I hope you don't need a second mortgage to get the cream cheese.

It would be worth it, Mr. Q's cheesecakes are the stuff of
       legend.
       Now I want lasagna.

I may change my mind, but I'm thinking of making Impossible
sausage bolognese to have with brown rice flour pasta. Winter
weather makes me crave pasta. I bought a Daiya gluten free and
dairy free key lime cheesecake. Good enough to scratch that
itch. Oh, and my favorite ginger beer. I am sort of cooked out
at present. I want it to be easy.
The cat will have extra bites of my oatmeal, all the brushy
sessions she wants, and the good organic catnip.

No clue, but I will freeze two tourtiere slices for Christmas
morning in case I am hungry for something other than soup. I
enjoyed it tonight even though I overcooked the top crust.
I have a carton of Oregon Chai (sugar free) which I will be
saving for Christmas day if I want chai (duh, I should.) and an
ample choice of frozen meals to reheat or cook. I'm gorging now
due to stress. Hopefully that stops now I've done almost
everything I wanted to do before surgery.

I'm the only person in my department at the hospital, and I take
the night call (all the while hoping nothing bad happens to
anyone --- I'm pretty much only called when someone dies).
Everyone else has a family. I'm just a guy with a dog.

If you replace the cheesecake with pastries from the Italian
bakery, it's the dinner my mother makes. Plus bread, but I'm
guessing with that meal, the bread goes without saying.
Just reading your post made me hungry.

Court Pastry, Brooklyn, NY! But it's too far to drive.
I usually make rainbow cookies too.

Christmas Eve we're having dinner at my son's. His girlfriend
just texted us the menu. We're bringing a honey baked. We just
got back from Concord with them. (One to leave at son's and one
for Christmas day.) We'll do our gift exchange since son and
girlfriend are spending Christmas day with her family.
Christmas day I'm hoping to spend with my daughter. I'll be
happy if her boyfriend chooses to spend the day here, even more
than just Christmas day. His family is in town also so we expect
he will spend some time with them.
