My 2 always seemed to have more life when it was under 25º.

We have trained the first trick. It goes like this:
I am eating cheese, or something else yummy, but especially
cheese.
LCP jumps onto the sofa beside me, then immediately jumps off
again, before I have the chance to yell "OFF!". She gets
amazing height on these off-the-sofa leaps, and does an in-air
twist, landing facing me with her most charming "See mom, I got
off the sofa" cute lab puppy face.
Then I burst out laughing and I give her some cheese.
Very smart, is LCP. Good trainer.

No really good place to put this: Dakota in Lake Michigan in a
heavy fog.

ETA: see the tennis ball next to her right shoulder? That's a
Lab thing.

Tricks training class starts at the end of the month, woohoo!
In her puppy class there were: Six labs, two goldens and one
cute little shaggy thing, who kept looking at the crazy-social
gundogs like they were insane.
I wonder who will be in this class? I wonder if LCP will be
able to calm down enough to learn anything?

Labs love games. Not only will she learn new tricks and ways to
play, but she'll teach you how to play them the "right" way and
then make the games even better for you and her.

Don't get me wrong: she loves learning and loves tricks. We're
doing new stuff all the time. As you know, labs are highly
trainable.
The class itself is more just for fun and socialization, and she
is as social as, well, as social as a lab so the main goal is
for her to stop trying to scrabble across the floor to play with
the other dogs and their handlers long enough to watch me for a
second.

Tangential: she has zero trouble focusing when on a bird. I
mean, sure, the other dogs are distracting, but not insanely so.
She can do her job if there is a duck to be hunted. She's
really coming along nicely there, learning how to work in under
handler control. It's kind of amazing how much of that is baked
in.
