Is it a lab thing or is my dog strange?

Lena shoves her entire nose into the water bowl (under water,
thank you very much) whenever she gets a drink. Bess laps like a
normal dog. Is Lena just strange? None of my other pups have
ever been caught doing that.

One of mom's labs does that too. She also practically swallows
your hand whole when feeding her treats ;D
The other very delicately laps at the water.
[My horses follow this too — one delicate, the other a gobbling
goober]

Ooh, ooh, I hope this thread can be used for many people to
answer this question, not just yours. Pretty please?
So, first of all, I have no idea. LCP drinks like a normal
puppy except when she jumps right into her dish because that is
very fun.
She is, however far and away the most social pet I have ever
owned. By a factor of a billion. Her need to meet everyone and
everything might be her strongest drive. That's a lab thing,
right? Does it abate at all? Is she going to lose her entire
shit every single time she sees a human for the rest of her
life?

Very much a lab thing. Not only will she lose her shit, but
she'll remember her friends (and her enemies if she ever makes
them), and she'll remember how different people like to be
approached and greeted.

IMO, all dogs have at least one habit we see as unique. Part of
what makes them so lovable. 🥰
Unless it's one of those things like they see window blinds as
the enemy. 😲 Still lovable but the habit not so much.

Lena hasn't remembered that I don't like being jumped on...
That must be the Doberman half, right?

Mwahahahahaha
I didn't say they do what you like, just that they remember.
Then they get that grin, that Lab laugh.

yet, but that's Lena's laugh alright.

LCP is almost six months old and definitely starting to behave
like an adolescent.
Slobberdogs start the bratty teen phase around ten months so
this feels early to me. Questions:
1. Is this about right for labs?
2. How long does it last? (I usually figure about ten months of
pushiness for Slobberdogs.)
3. Would anyone like a slightly used large-ish chocolate lab
puppy?

Is it a lab thing or is my dog strange?
I know nothing about dogs (labs or otherwise), but whenever I
scroll through unread topics and I see this thread title, I
immediately think it's a question about Lab & whether he's
strange...
