I feel like you are moving the goalposts. I said most people
aren't covid-ing *at* me. Thetis said some people are, and gave
some examples of heinous (abeit hopefully rare) behaviour such
as coughing on people, as well as some common and irresponsible
behaviour such as not masking. I said I can't worry about them.
You said you do have to worry about them, because, omicron. I
disagreed. Now you say you need to be aware, which I feel is a
completely different thing than whether or not anyone is
covid-ing *at* me (or anyone.)
I heartily agree that it's important to know what public health
measures are and aren't being taken in any given area. I feel
extremely fortunate there because I live in New England where
the governors are sane and the legislatures are blue.
Tangential: I read a piece yesterday, can't remember where,
that shows the highest death rates are in the reddest counties.
I can't be happy about death rates but part of me feels like
it's a "hoist on your own petard" thing.

Welp, I disagree. I mean, people suck, absolutely, no
disagreement there at all. But them thinking about themselves
isn't about me.
It affects me and that sucks, yes. Just like reckless drivers.
It's irresponsible and selfish. But it isn't about me.
I certainly get the concern. Mr Q and Oldest just returned from
the south and they said nobody masks there. That's crazy. And
I'd be lying if I said I don't notice when people wear their
masks blatantly wrong. That zen only goes so far in reality.

Serial posting to add, this is mostly my coping mechanism for
myself. Because if I focus on all of the stuff everyone
everywhere is doing that negatively affects me then I have
trouble staying happy and also I feel like this kind of thinking
diminishes me as a person.
So I try (and fail!) to focus on tending my own garden.
This is a statement about me and what works for me.

Looks like omicron is everywhere already. If it's showing up in
wastewater then there's probably a lot of it.
Fingers crossed it's milder.

I am with you, Queenie. Being upset with/about the folks who
aren't getting vaxxed, etc. is just too enervating. I don't have
the bandwidth.

Speaking strictly for myself, it doesn't help anything and it
just distracts me from doing what I need to do.

Anybody adjusting their holiday plans?
Last year we had a tiny Christmas, just Mr. Q and I. The boys
were at my mom's house because we were recovering from covid.
This year we're invited to the giant Queenie clan thing. I'm
guessing 30 people and of course we'll all be inside crowded
together.
I do so want to see everyone. I'm not in the least afraid for
myself because, immunity.
What I'm worried about is my mom. She wants to see everyone
too, and of course she's vaxxed and boosted, but she's also 86
with a history of repeated bouts of pneumonia.
So I asked her: does she want to go to the big 'do? Or would
she rather have a quiet Christmas with just us?
HER: Well, what do *you* want?
ME: FOR GOD'S SAKE MOM, THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME!!!
Anyway, jury is still out but I need to RSVP soon. Ergh.

We adjusted to the extend of all getting tested right before.
Was supposed to be about 20 of us, but my sister came down with
a not-covid cold that shouldn't be shared either, so her crew
stayed home and it was about 15 of us in the end.
For Xmas it looks like it will be just me and Scritchy and we
will probably not seek to make more plans than that.
