way about are all extended relatives.

Thanks. I'm using the pandemic break from visits to learn how to
handle her better over the phone. Here's hoping that'll carry
over some the next time I lay eyes on her.

This will probably make it more successful at sticking around
long term.
If it doesn't kill the patients or make them so sick they get
isolated in a hospital, the patients can wander around infecting
others.

Covid isn't going away. Not enough of us (humans) have gotten
vaccinated to eliminate it.

transmission.

Nitpick: I think it’s better to phrase this as “completely
eliminate” or something that makes clearer that it does prevent
A Lot of transmission vs, doesn’t do it.

I haven't seen the data on how much it prevents or doesn't
prevent transmission so I won't argue.
But it does prevent death and hospitalization hence the
predictions that covid will become endemic.

Tangential: I know a person who has covid. He's keeping quiet
about it because if he doesn't work he doesn't get paid. He
probably contracted it at work.
You can disapprove all you want, but this is reality for a fair
number of people.

No shame here. I posted this on my FB back on March 9th, 2020,
and well, yeah - I regret to say that we've seen all of this:
Why COVID-19 is going to be much worse in this country than it
needs to be:
• Lack of sufficient PTO/paid sick leave. People are not going
to choose to miss work, no matter how well advised, when missing
work means they can't pay the rent or buy food for the next
week.
• People being UNABLE to go see a doctor for fear of a medical
bill they can't pay. Either due to lack of insurance or crappy
ass insurance with a high deductible.
• Businesses being unprepared and/or unwilling to allow people
to telecommute and work from home because it will probably cost
them money in SOME slowdown of getting work done efficiently.
• The erosion of a basic belief in science in this country -
particularly motivated by Trump and his administrative choices.
Trump, who any moment now is going to tell somebody that they're
"Doing a heck of a job!"

The only people I disapprove of in a situation like this are the
employer and our stupid government. A health care system that
protects everybody ultimately benefits everybody - why so many
of those with the power to change our system can't see this I do
not understand.
