student. I took my SAT at age 28, started college at 29 (in the
early 2000s), graduated in three years, then continued on to
graduate school for a Master's after that. Both of my degrees
are STEM. I also scored perfectly on the verbal portion of the
SAT but only slight above average on the math. I did not take
it again. I didn't have a super meaty application as an
undergraduate either and I had no problem getting in to the
state school of my choice. It was competitive enough. I knew
people who had been wait listed for my school.

Thanks for the perspective, very interesting. Yes, maybe her
       score is enough.

Parents have to accept that they have limited powers of
persuasion with children in their late teens. Try to talk to
her as if she was an adult, because she almost is. Lay out the
pros and cons as best you understand them and then allow her to
make her own decision. She will anyway - if she thinks it's
stupid, she might just blow off the math cram sessions or even
       blow off the SAT retest.
My child got a mediocre math score, did study sessions with a
tutor for 6 months or so, and got a math score 100 points
higher. That's a typical result for students who did no special
study before taking the SAT the first time and then doing guided
studying for a while and retaking it.
(I'll spare you my opinion of the value of college board tests
in general and how much they favor students from at least upper
       middle class families....)

I am a math teacher. I’d say the perfect English is enough. If
anything, she will be taking placement exams for both English
and math at whatever college she goes to. Unless, she’s AP or
tests out somehow. I’d concentrate on those. She can place out
       of courses.
The math she needs for science is not necessarily “pure” math -
as I call it - but more like using some math to learn sciences.
       Problem solving and the like.
You can’t really do any of the other subjects really well
without good English skills; I think she will be better than
       fine.
I am impressed. Perfect English. That is something to
       celebrate!!

is, she tests well for English but HATED her English class. AND
she has trouble, at least for classes, writing essays. At least
the way the teacher wants - doing drafts. She does the whole
       thing at the last minute.

I'm not sure what I'm doing where the quote is inside the box
and my reply is too, or when my reply is outside. Please excuse
that, I have no idea what I'm doing...

The trick is to look a the html tags. Make sure whatever you
type goes *after* the (/quote) except brackets instead of
       parens.

It's great that she can write a decent essay all in one go,
however that means there will be a learning curve when she gets
to college term papers that are too long to keep the whole
organization in her head and really need a draft or two.

You are 100 % right. For YEARS the teachers have been insisting
on drafts and she just...won't do it. First year will be a bear.

I had a close to perfect score in English and a good but lower
score in math on the SATs. I had no trouble getting into a good
state school with a very strong science program or into graduate
schools (biological science degrees). I'm getting close to
retirement and I've used good writing skills a lot more often
       than math skills.
